Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to season 2, episode 10 of REBELS!!!!  WOW, we are covering some major ground in terms of learning more about the Sith side of the Empire here!!!  Ahsoka joins in on this adventure, as she strives to confirm what I can only guess she already kind of knows.  And we get the new Inquisitors back for this one, woohoo!!!  I was watching thinking this reminded me an AWFUL lot of that Clone Wars ep, when Ahsoka pointed it out at the end hahaha!!!  So fun to watch our crew go on an adventure with a baby, and very important to the overall plot for them to know what's really going on with the Empire trying to grab a hold of all force sensitive kids.  Loved it!!  Great ep! Enjoy!!!  ~ MH

Seems like these two Inquisitors are a bit more on the ruthless side, I mean they killed an entire civilian transport just to make sure nobody knew what they were really doing. Seems like whenever you don’t think Ezra’s listening to your conversation, he’s right outside the door, but Kanan’s gotten used to it. You’re right about Chopper having no chill - he wanted to blow up the Inquisitor’s ship without bothering with the kid. He’s funny, but he does have a… if you’ll pardon the pun… “dark side” to him. Memo to the crew: don’t carry a kid around when you’re trying to be stealthy it doesn’t go well. Also you were squealing a lot so I think it might’ve flipped by you that Kanan was telling Ezra to use the Forcecto try and calm the kid down, but it wasn’t working since Ezra has his own worries. Lightsabers in the floor. Nuff said. It seems like whenever we get to a planet where there’s flying cars we have to have an obligatory aerial car chase scene. Hope those folks have some sort of insurance! “Palpatine was behind everything…” Come on, spoilers! XD Still haven’t gotten to Clone Wars yet, so I’m just basing things on what I see from this show. I don’t think Ahsohka has any suspicions yet that Vader is Anakin - all she knows is she felt something was off when they had that encounter, and it caused her to pass out so she’s like “what the heck is going on here?” - that’s why she’s investigating, now she’s curious about who and why. Chopper is taking care of the kids at the end of the episode. Am I the only one who feels slightly uneasy about this…? 😅

She's not wrong. Technically...she's no Jedi.....

2022-08-26 23:00:36 That opening is dark, ordinary people on a commute being boarded and killed by the Inquisitors just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Ahsoka with the hero shot, coming out of the light to rescue our friends, and completely outclassing those Inquisitors, she is pretty much a Jedi Master in all but name. It also shows just the levels above Kanan she is as a warrior, she fought the whole war, duelled Grievous twice, Ventress twice and Maul as a teenager AND was trained by those Inquisitors master - they never stood a chance. Also this was the debut of her white lightsabres as seen in The Mandalorian. You remember Mel how she dropped her sabres at the end of the Clone Wars? Well years later she runs into an Inquisitor (this is covered in the Ahsoka novel, though how much of that remains relevant is anyone's guess), and defeats him using the force to blow up his lightsabre. The red crystals from them she then uses the force to purify them, turning them from red, to white. This also subconsciously tells us she is neither Jedi nor Sith; and they are the only white lightsabres in Star Wars, outside of the High Republic books. I spoke about this to you I think on the Obi-Wan series Mel, that Inquisitors are excellent at dealing with kids, inexperienced Padawans, even like Kanan, and inexperienced Knights if they have the numbers. But experienced Knights or Jedi Masters, then they are completely outclassed, but thats when Vader comes in to deal with those. And you are right about their lightsabres, they have tricks and gadgets built in (some you haven't seen yet) to make an Inquisitor more formidable; but against anyone of the class of Ahsoka, they only make the Inquisitors look like children in comparison. Some Inquisitors are ex-Padawans found as Younglings at the temple, like Reva, or Jedi that have been turned by torture (this is covered in detail in the game Jedi : Fallen Order which you should check out sometime, or at least the video sequences, as it deals with some of the issues Kanan is going through here in Rebels); or perhaps like these infants here, just took by the Empire and trained up (which is horrific to think of the training they would have went through - perhaps akin to Maul when he was took as a kid by Sidious). Its never mentioned in the show but while Kanan and Ahsoka were at the Jedi Temple as younglings, they were in classes together working on their lightsabre skills so knew of each other even if they weren't friends back then since Ahsoka is around 3 years older than Kanan and then soon after, went on and became Anakin's Padawan. Kanan now looks to her as a kind of mentor and takes advice from her off screen when he can, to help him try to centre himself once more as a Jedi, which is ironic considering technically Ahsoka isn't one now. Dave Filoni tweeted a bit of a background with them to help flesh out their relationship when this first aired to help fans understand where Kanan was at. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DFT98fiUMAADxnn?format=jpg&name=small https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DFT98feUwAEvpMd?format=jpg&name=small There was also a collection of shorts made called Forces Of Destiny which you should check out sometime Mel, as some of them are very good, but I would only do so after you are finished with Rebels. One of them shows Ahsoka teaching Ezra. Chopper almost promoting infanticide as he wants to blow up the ship with the baby inside! Then after is seen playing with them! Would you trust your child with Chopper? :D Finally, this episode is the first to take place 3 years out from A New Hope.

Manny

This was an amazing episode. As cute as it was it was awful what the inquisitors were doing, and the end goal to obtain children is just malicious. The babies were so cute even chopper eventually joined in. 👶 👨‍🍼

kamenriderhime

Yes!! Seriously, it was cute throughout but the concept was pretty scary! Lol even Chopper can't resist a cute baby!!!

kamenriderhime

Yeah they're more aggressive and ruthless for sure. Hahahah Kanan is used to Ezra's MO by now. LOL Chopper has a total dark side, well said :P Ohhh thanks for clarifying that Ezra couldn't use the Force because his mind wasn't clear enough. You can't stick a cute baby in front of me and expect me not to squeal!!! Lightsabers + floor was the combo of the ep! Oh I hope sure these poor folks have aerial car insurance!!! Oh, sorry, I'll try to be more careful with the CW spoilers!!! >.< But Palaptine being behind everything is sort of an ongoing theme for all of Star Wars, so it's not a huge spoiler :P Yeah, I can't tell if Ahsoka has or is putting it together about Anakin - it doesn't seem like she is yet, but she knows there's something off and possibly familiar for sure. Hahahaha Babysitter Chopper, what could possibly go wrong?!?! :P

kamenriderhime

Right?! It's really dark, especially considering the usual tone of this show. Ahhh the hero shot was everything! Oh I hadn't even thought about that with the white sabers since I've seen them before! So interesting how they came about as well, I'd love to read that Ahsoka novel. I'd love to play Jedi Fallen Order actually, I've thought about doing a video game reaction/playthrough for it but I'm told by those around me that I'm not quite skilled enough to play it! But yes, I remember you saying that the Inquisitors are formidable against the typical child or semi-trained Jedi, but nowhere near the skill level of someone who was a Jedi during the height of the Clone Wars - particularly someone like Ahsoka, who fought so many skilled opponents. OMG, thanks for sharing the tweets!!! That's awesome!!! It helps fill in the blanks a bit. I'd like to see the shorts after I'm caught up as well! Hahahahahaha I mean, I don't know if I'd trust Chopper with anyone/thing as he is quite the wild card :P Thanks for clarifying the timeline again! I knew it, I just get confused based on all the Star Wars stuff I've been watching at almost the same time haha. Thanks!

Fallen Order is a good game, but yes it can be difficult, even on lower difficulty settings and I don't know how much of a gamer you are. I found it relatively challenging and I've been playing video games since the early 80's on the old Atari consoles! One of my first games, was Empire Strikes Back on it too! However I'm realising too that I don't have the gaming co-ordination for games like Dark Souls these days, and Fallen Order is similar in its gameplay design, though slightly less challenging. It is worth checking out the video stories of the game if you think playing it will be too much for you, as it is a good story about survivors guilt, again like Kanan here after Order 66; and trying to overcome that. There is a second game coming next year too, and I really have a feeling the character you play in it, we'll see sometime in live action, as the BD droid you partner up with, was featured in the Book of Boba Fett episode where Din was building his new ship in the hangar. Perhaps you could do a reaction to the game sometime if you feel like it; there are some really emotional parts in it. The timeline gets easier to understand later on, as essentially the beginning of series 3 takes place two years out from A New Hope, and series 4 is in the final year before the events of the film. I'll remind you when you get there though! :D I haven't read the Ahsoka novel, though I have a few audiobooks of Kanan and his story before and soon after he met Hera, that I need to get through; which were released during the first season of Rebels. For Ahsoka, I know they changed one or two things since, that we've now seen in season 7 of Clone Wars, but there is still elements of it that I think Filoni and co liked, that they kept.

kamenriderhime

Yeah that's what I heard! So cool that one of your first games as Empire on Atari! The coordination for some of these games definitely seems difficult. At the very least I'd love to see some video of it and react!! So cool about the droid, no kidding!!! Awesome that there's a second one coming too. Thanks for the reminders about the timeline, I appreciate it! I jump back and forth so much that sometimes I get confused haha. Oh nice, it's cool that there's so much background literature about these characters. I'm glad they kept a lot of original elements for Ahsoka too!
