Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to season 2, episode 16 of REBELS!!!!  AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH no way you guys, we're doing this!!!!!!!  We finally get confirmation of what the name had already pretty much tipped me off to - that we knew Hera's dad in the Clone Wars!!!  Seeing them struggle with their relationship here was tough at times, but I love that in the end, Syndulla learned to trust and respect his daughter.  So sweet!  What a great cameo and reunion!!  Great ep! Enjoy!!!  ~ MH

So many great things in this episode. Ezra and Kanan slingshotting each other through the doors is so cool, their teamwork with the Force is unparalleled. The scene where Hera slips back into her accent is so good, her VA did great. And we got to see Numa all grown up! So bittersweet knowing the two who saved her didn’t make it.

I know!!! It was amazing!!! The accent, omg this VA was killing it right?? Numa!!!!! OMG!!!! Ohhh that's true, that is sad :((((

Yep we saw Cham multiple times during the Clone Wars, especially in the first season. I really like him, despite his questionable actions here. He is one heck of a warrior. You don't see Hera in TCW though, he picks up a boy in one of the episodes of Clone Wars, and its suspected its a son who died young too, whether through the war, or with the lack of supplies coming to Ryloth then. And yes his wife was also killed which strained his relationship with Hera further. Now here is a lovely easter egg for you, remember the little girl being rescued by the clones in the Ryloth arc? Well here she is, as Numa! I always remember one of the lines the clones say to her when leaving 'don't worry we'll be back' - well they did come back, as occupiers, and now she fights for her people, just as Hera now does for the galaxy. Great action scene with Ezra and Kanan teaming up to deal with the stormtroopers, not quite Anakin and Obi/Ahsoka standard, but impressive nevertheless! They are both pushing each other on, not just as Jedi, but as fighters too. Ezra's first mind trick is a hoot, but he nailed it!

The Twi'lek woman was Numa from TCW, Waxer and Boil found her and she helped them rescue her people. She also kept call them/saying Numa which meant "brother".

K'apeki

Her name is Numa, but what she called them was "Nera"

It seems that you don’t need a lot of exposition about a character once you meet their parents. Speaking of meeting the parents, Kanan looks like he’d rather be fighting Darth Vader than meeting Hera’s dad for what I assume is the first time. I mean, sci-fi or not, I think that probably isn’t a feeling that’s exclusive to Jedi… 😂 Oh, this is the rest of the crew. You forgot Chopper, Kanan!? That’s gonna haunt you later…. Honestly, the whole double cross plot twist didn’t shock me in the least. When you see two individuals as stubborn as these two butting heads you know it’s going to come to a… head, for lack of a better term. This is kind of bothering me though… Hera crashed the TIE fighter (why does the Empire keep losing their ships again? 😂) How was Cham’s crew planning on escaping after blowing up the cruiser and Hera’s crew? Did you really think this through…? Obviously this whole thing is just a trope to get both of them to actually start working together again, but it is true what they say… the hardest people to change the minds of us usually your family, because they’re usually a lot like you. Anyway, we have a place to dock now… oh, by the way, how many imperial ships do we have lying around the Rebel fleet at this point? Someone should start keeping a running count. 😄

Haha she is captain now! Man war does stuff to ya. When he said, “for you my people” you could here how he cared strongly for his own. And wow Hera…she has an accent?! Out of everything that surprised me the most haha. Poor Kanan meeting the future in law is always scary at first. But hey they got along well enough. Two very sweet episodes 👨‍👧

kamenriderhime

Yes! He's a great character. Ohhh I thought that was Hera, my bad! That's so sad about his wife. OMG!!!! That's the little girl!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe it, what an awesome callback!!! Hahah well, not every team can be Anakin and Obi-Wan or Ahsoka, but they did great for sure! They're good for each other in so many ways. Lol the mind trick was epic!!! Way to go Ezra!

kamenriderhime

YES!! It sure does....you can tell how much he cares for sure. OMG right?! The accent blew my mind!!! Hahaha Kanan being the nervous boyfriend/future son-in-law was everything! I loved both eps for sure!

kamenriderhime

Yeah, good point! Hahahha I mean whether it's a galaxy far far away or close to home, in-laws can be scary :P Oh Chopper will not stand for that! Good for you for seeing the double cross coming! In retrospect, it makes sense. Hmmm, not a bad point about the escape plan...!! They'll figure it out, they always do! That's the thing, the people closest to you can be the toughest ones of all to deal with! Hahaha hopefully, we have enough when it comes to those ships!!!

Thanks to crazy work hours finally playing catch up! This was one of the episodes I was most excited for you to see! I mentioned in an earlier episode comment to you when you were asking if we had seen Hera before or her family. I HAD to throw out a little smudging of a hint that you HAD seen the family before. When we hit season two I was biting my tongue hard saying “you’re almost there” lol. I loved the disfunctional Dynamic of Hera and her dad. And I loved Kenan being all flustered and trying to impress. Gotta say we will see something similar interaction later with another potential shipping couple that holds a special place with me. I won’t say too much but I know you’ll see the parallels. Also her accent was amazing. Venessa’s talent really shined here and the emotion she she added to the already beautiful animation. This is definitely in my top 10 episodes. Got several episodes to catch up on. (Plus you’re on spyxfam now yay!) I’ll probably go back and comment on more after I get caught up. But I’m glad you enjoyed this one as much as I did!

kamenriderhime

Glad you're able to catch up! Ahhh yes the hints helped me to put it together on my own! The family issues plus Kanan's awkwardness were all definitely interesting to watch. Aww can't wait to see what you mean about the ship! Oh yes this VA killed it, the accent was so well done! YAY hope you enjoy SpyxFam too! And hope you love all my reactions, enjoy getting caught up and thanks for watching along with me! ^_^

Nick

You’ve seen Numa and Gobi before as well 🙂 (I missed this connection for quite a while but it’s one of my favourite connections from Rebels to other bits of the Star Wars universe: especially Numa)

kamenriderhime

Yes, someone pointed it out, can't believe I didn't remember!!!!! NUMA!!!! :D So, that's who I thought Hera was at first. I'm glad they brought her into the mix!!!!!

Nick

Yes it’s really cool to have Numa in the show as a rebel 😎

Nick

There is a lot to remember and spot - especially for a first time through! Its possible Hera was in the Clone Wars as a child, as her father was holding a young girl in Clone Wars, but I don’t know if it is confirmed it was Hera.

kamenriderhime

Thanks for understanding! And yeah it's possible I guess!!! Fun to think we may have seen her before!

Nate Perkins

It is shown that there are more TIEs and escape pods, presumably they are using those.
