Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to season 2 episode 13 of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime!  Well, we get to really strategize in this one, which I'm sure we're gonna need!  Oh yeah, and let's not forget that we also get to introduce everyone to Veldora....can you imagine, having what's basically been the god of the forest for so long like, right in front of you?  Oh yeah, and he's SO extra, I love it!!!!
His personality and energy are just the best.  Can't wait for what's coming next!
Great ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

I should, before I dive into this episode, cover a couple things from the “recap” episodes that were worth mentioning. Basically it’s Veldora trapped inside Rimuru and playing shogi with Ifrit. They discuss the events that happen to date, and how they feel about them. There is official confirmation that Milim is indeed the “Dragon Princess” from Eren’s story - and Veldora at one point mentions during the Megiddo scenes that “it’s extremely dangerous to anger someone who’s typically so mild-mannered.” Regarding the episode itself, the new opening/ending plus the previous recap seems to indicate a new cour, so a lot of this is just recapping and setting up the pieces for the next arc. I didn’t know Veldora’s VA was JP Sun but now that it’s mentioned it does make total sense that they’d get along. However, leaving Veldora alone with access to all that manga and him using them as “life lessons…” I’m mildly concerned about how this might end up going. When Rimuru brought Veldora back into town the reason every one was so slow to respond was they didn’t really believe it: I mean, they’ve seen Rimuru do crazy stuff, but even this is on a level hard for them to believe. That might’ve been why Diablo was amused, he may have been the only one who got it, until Treyni showed up and confirmed it for them. Is it just me or does Tempest seem to be having a party quite often…? Where are you getting all the supplies for this? I would hate to see the grocery bill for this kingdom. Speaking of cooking… well, we KIND of solved Shion, and yet… we kind of didn’t. If she can make her dish taste like anything she wants that’s GOOD… but does that mean it’s actually gonna be good for you? She might want to look at some of the recent IQ pics of the Beacon Cafeteria for inspiration. Also, she was dead set on using her sword until Rimuru said he was going to give her a cooking knife, and then she 180’d. Seems like a lot of this episode is just Rimuru trying to convince everyone he’s actually doing what he says he is. First it’s the villagers then it’s Fuze. Also, he apparently thought everyone partying resulted in a bunch of corpses. Actually, they probably just need a barrel or two of coffee. Also, way to show up, guys. Good job. Oh well, at least they tried… but there’s a part of me thinking Rimuru probably could’ve done most of this without help if he had to. It’s the principle of the thing, though. I think the blank response when Rimuru said he was a Demon Lord in the meeting was not confusion as much as “We know. What’s your point?” They’ve always been 100% on board no matter what. They’re probably1000% after the events of the last few episodes. Which, by the way, this entire saga of my calculations are right, may have taken less than 24 hours from start to finish. So maybe Blumund’s tardiness is more of a logistical issue. Either way it does seem that everyone wants in on the action, both his past friends and future ones. Also it seems Gazel and Erald don’t actually get along well. I mean, Elves and Dwarves at odds… can’t think of any other times I’ve seen that trope, have you? Also, overprotective dad much? Rimuru’s probably the last person to take advantage of someone like that, but of. Purse, problems arise when you attack without even talking to him… ask Falmuth. Rimuru did mention seizing the Demon Lord’s throne, before I forget. So we know he’s after Clayman, but does this mean he intends to take over ruling them and uniting them kind of like his JTF? That may be more problematic, since we obviously have Clayman, and we still haven’t dealt with Leon, either. Welcome to upper management, Rimuru. Stock up on aspirin, everybody wants a piece of you! 😅

Manny

Bosom buddies 🐲 💧 ❤ He is that one friend that can't help but be extra. Once you get pass the flames Erald seems like he'd be a decent guy. 🔥 👦

kamenriderhime

Hahahha there's always that one friend right!!! Yeah Erald's not so bad, when he's not making fiery threats haha.

kamenriderhime

Oh thanks for mentioning the stuff from the recap! Isn't that funny about the VA! Oh yeah I'm sure JTF was shocked!!! And yeah, we like to party in the JTF! Hahah so fun about the cooking knife, and good point that even if it tastes good, the content might still be pretty bad. It must get real old trying to convince everyone all the time haha. Hahah yeah Rimuru probably could handle it but still! Oh yeah, I figured the reaction was because they knew and were already on board! Haha I totally blanked on the elf/dwarf trope but it's great. Yeah, I mean Rimuru's definitely got some great goals but there's one or two issues that might arise!! Hahahaha he's definitely gonna have to figure out some work/life balance. :P

This is just a couple comments for now. What Rimuru meant was that he was going to try to be an official Demon Lord, that is, get recognized by the other Demon Lords. Not because he wants necessarily to become official, but advertising it, as he wants to do to protect JTF, would automatically mean a challenge to the other DL's. Because there's a fixed number of official ones. So Rimuru can't get around it.....Hey, I think it was only about 11 days at most since the attack on Tempest and when Fuze arrives. I think that's pretty good.....I agree that Diablo smiled when Veldora was first introduced because he did indeed know who Veldora was....I think Gazel and Erald do indeed get along, they just act like they aren't friends.

Since you didn't watch the recap, Veldora's Diary #2, . Basically these diary episodes are about Veldora and Ifrit in Rimuru's Stomach. They play Shogi in there and sometimes watch the outside world. When Veldora talks about playing at the Ryuou level, that's one of the top tournaments in Japan, and it means Dragon King (Ryu- ou). Great Sage and Veldora occasionally communicate with each other, and GS tries to get Veldora to do his side of the analysis of Unlimited Imprisonment, and after Rimuru becomes a DL, Raphael visits and says to Veldora: I forcefully expanded your Computational Space, and you can go 345 times faster, so now keep it open with your own power and get an Ultimate Skill already. Incidentally, only Veldora's core was actually in Rimuru's Stomach. When he was released, normally it would take him some time to rebuild his spiritual and astral bodies, and come to full strength. But Veldora became fully established in energy, through the Soul Corridor that Rimuru established. In addition, Veldora's memory is stored in Rimuru, so he can regain it anytime through Rimuru's new Veldora Ultimate Skill via its Restore Storm Dragon subskill. Normally when Veldora dies, he comes back to life after a certain amount of time but he loses his memory each time. This has happened to him several times before. Most of the people in the world don't expect Veldora to be at full strength for a while, plus he's learned to hide his aura which people also don't expect. The word "bombastic" is the perfect word for Veldora! Carrion has been spelled so many ways in translation. Carrion is an English word, so people are basing their pronunciation on that, but your original one sounds to me like what the voice actors are actually saying. I love that opening song too. Rimuru can handle all those troublemakers on his team, but he's not as good with women. There are some people who he calls -san in the show, and usually they are women he thinks are a little intimidating, one example being Treyni. If you notice, she is one of the few who seem to be able to maneuver him to do things he doesn't want to do (and she doesn't want to either). Btw, the 'sword friend' is a mistranslation, it should be 'sworn friend'.

Slime Diaries talks about how they got into the banquet, party, and festival habit, they're always looking for an excuse.

kamenriderhime

Ohhh ok, got it! Thanks for clarifying. Wow this is still pretty close to the attack! Interesting about Diablo's awareness!! And lol they're just those friends who bicker all the time but it's part of their charm, I guess!

kamenriderhime

Thanks for summarizing the recap ep, I appreciate it!!! It's interesting to know exactly how things work for Veldora vs. how they work now that he's been with Rimuru. And also fun to know how he was spending his time in there!!! So this is is first time coming back but still having memories, interesting. I'm so glad you liked my word for Veldora lol! Ohhh so maybe I was right by saying it "Carry On". Thanks! The opening is awesome. And that makes a degree of sense that Rimuru wouldn't be the best with women....he certainly does fine interacting with them but the intimidation kind of makes sense. Ohhhh thanks for clearing up the "sword friend" issue haha. I appreciate all the info!

myst0dreamer

Strength recognizes strength, literally, here, about Diablo and Veldora. Probably vice versa, now I think about it, but Veldora is just oblivious that anyone might care to know this information. He's like that sometimes.

myst0dreamer

I just realized I never explained something about Shion's Master Chef Skill that's never explained but kind of important. It has a subskill called Guaranteed Results or Certain Outcome. It allows her to alter the laws of nature to get the results she wants. Sometimes she accomplishes something that seems impossible, in a fight or other situations. I think it's mostly when she uses her sword.

myst0dreamer

I just rewatched that Veldora's Journal #2 Ep., because I was looking for a specific piece of information and I realized that there was more than I thought in that episode, some of which we discussed before and after this episode. There's too much to go into detail but there are 4 categories: (1) Thoughts about the differing ideas about death that humans and monsters have, and acknowledging Rimuru's POV is valid; (2) Ifrit's POV of his time with Shizu is explained. It's quite different from Shizu's; (3) How Ifrit warns Veldora not to do anything rash outside so as not to make Rimuru hate him-- another explanation of why Veldora doesn't rampage; (4) When Rafael (Rimuru) resurrects the dead, Ifrit says, "Could it be the one we thought was Rimuru is actually...", and Veldora says, "I knew. I could tell he was special from the start." Ifrit scoffs at that. (Quotes are paraphrased.)

myst0dreamer

I made a mistake above. I changed some things near the end of the first paragraph.

kamenriderhime

Oh thanks for bringing this to my attention! Interesting! There was actually a lot in there that subtly hints at bigger concepts. I didn't realize or I would have watched it!! Thanks again :D

kamenriderhime

Ah yes!!! Thank you! I actually noticed how folks were not expecting him to be at full power in the most recent eps I watched. I was slightly confused at first but started to see that this was just something that was misunderstood by outside parties (maybe for the best!)!

myst0dreamer

I didn't remember those concepts either, I tried to get people to watch it based on #4, but I realized we discussed some of the other things.

kamenriderhime

Yeah I just thought it was a straight up recap, I really appreciate you filling me in on things that took place!

darkchaos125

Ah shoot......I think it might be because you're watching Crunchyroll, but Veldora's lines got some typos. He described Rimuru as "Sword friend" but this is a subtitle typo, he actually said "Sworn Friend" so its akin to One Piece brotherhood blood bond. It's sorta like marriage but the main point is, they're basically 'family', as you know they share the name Tempest/Storm as a 'family' name. If you do get into the Fate/Stay Night series, keep in mind Crunchyroll airs censored and edit some scenes out.

kamenriderhime

Oh yeah that was brought to my attention, oops!!! I watched Fate/Stay Night a while ago, didn't know some scenes were cut and censored!!! :O
