Star Wars Rebels 2x20 "The Mystery of Chopper Base" - reaction & review (Patreon)

Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to season 2, episode 20 of REBELS!!!!  OMG YOU GUYS!!!  WHY, why did it have to be spiders!!!!  Our crew runs into a pretty major problem at the new base, and let's face it, the whole base situation in general has NOT been easy.  But leave it to them to figure things out together!  Speaking of which, there's something else this ep does, and that's stir up some feelings about Kanan and Ezra's next mission.  It's sad to see Hera have to deal with it, and I liked that she and Kanan had a nice moment at the end.  So help me, if anything happens...!!!!  Great ep! Enjoy!!!  ~ MH

Owl? What owl? Well Kanan doesn't have red hair , so hopefully those things from that other show won't happen here. I hope

The last shot of the episode, right before the "Rebels" flashes on screen, is some kind of bird/owl I think lol? Hahaha oh dang, the red hair thing got me, oof!!! I hope not!!

Its not the owl thats ominous, its whats coming... First time we have ever seen lightsabres in training mode. If you get hit with it, it merely stings, instead of cutting limbs! Chopper chasing one of these little snail things on the Ghost, reminiscent of a cat chasing a mouse! :D The spiders were originally another one of Ralph McQuarrie's concept drawings. And they make a reappearance in Mandalorian, when Grogu is eating all of Frog Lady's eggs! Rex still showing he's an absolute boss in tackling them, he may not be what he was, but he can still fight with the best of them and is still fearless! Ezra and Kanan putting too much on their force push and almost killing Sabine, thats something they need to practise on!! As noted by Sabine herself, this is when she could use a jetpack of her own. Surprising she hasn't built one as she is a tech genius. Got to love Hera, she is always amazing as a pilot, leader, 'mother' to our crew and is the glue that keeps everyone grounded; but you can see she is deeply worried about Kanan and Ezra going to Malachor. Such a well rounded character. This is more of a contemplative episode, taking the spider battles out - the calm before the storm if you like. Finally, I love that it is official Star Wars canon, that one of the bases the Rebels use to fight against the Empire, is named after that little lunatic, Chopper!!! Finally getting the recognition he deserves! :D

I think the owl at the end is the one in the last episode of Clone Wars, where Vader turns up at the crash site. Probably.

🎶 The itsy bitsy spider went up the power cord Melissa started the episode and certainly was not bored She went to the kitchen and turned on the water spout Because her entire reaction was freaking the heck out 🎶 😁 You know, you’re squealing again. But somehow these sound a little different than Spy x Family… I wonder why? AP-5 and Chopper are still going at it. He’s asking if he can expect everything to be late around here since the Empire always kept a strict schedule on him. I kinda feel Chopper would sound like Barbossa if he could talk. “Around here, we refer to schedules as more like guidelines than actual rules.” During Kanan and Ezra’s training he pulls a sneak attack on the kid, in which Ezra asks “when did you ever become my enemy?” Kid, I think you probably need to have a chat with Obi-Wan, he can tell you all about that. They’ve made an entire series around one night in Coruscant. So, I’m guessing your with Zeb? Big bad guy until spiders get involved, and more than two legs is just excessive? You must’ve had fun in LOTR. (Speaking of which, again, you need to do Rings of Power, it started this week and it’s already amazing two episodes in.) I do like the way everyone’s thinking on their feet, but the whole spider sequence kind of felt a lot like Aliens crossed over with a horror movie, and maybe that’s intentional. There were definitely a lot of horror tropes here. “Spiders… why’d it have to be spiders?” And did you notice they could survive cannon fire? I wonder if this could be used to their advantage if a stray Imperial scout were to wander into the system, however… hmmm… Oh, by the way… Sabine finally let Ezra sweep her off her feet! Although this might be slightly too literal. The focus is on Kanan and Hera’s bond here, but from Sabine’s face, I don’t think she wants Ezra to go deep down, either. How are they being tracked, is it just a case of force sensing force or is something else up? Also, the owl by itself at the end isn’t ominous… but when you’re playing a slow, melancholy Imperial March tune underneath it… Welllll…. So, another spider episode? Or Vader constantly breathing in everyone’s face the rest of the series? You must choose! 😄 Huh… A show that’s cute and fun until it isn’t and people are dead? I have no idea what you’re talking about, good ma’am! Are you sure you weren’t having a… Nightmare? 👀

Oooh, that sounds ominous...!! Hahah yes total cat and mouse vibes! Oh interesting about the concept art. Ohhhh yes I remember the famous egg eating! Oh Rex has most definitely still got it! Hahaha yeah the force push could use some fine tuning :P That's true, I wonder why she hasn't built one of her own. Maybe someday! Oh I know, Hera is truly the heart and soul of our crew, so sad to see her so obviously deeply affected by this. Calm before the storm, that doesn't sound good! Hahaha YES!!! Chopper deserves all the recognition!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA the little poem!!!!!!!!!!!! It's so accurate!!!! XD XD XD Oh yeah, these were not happy squeals lol. LOL that sounds pretty accurate on what Chopper would sound like! Their bickering is fun. OOF, the enemy line does make one think of Obi-Wan's journey. So sad!!! I have to believe that will not happen again!!! But still, Kanan seems pretty serious rn. Hahahah I'm totally with Zeb on this one, but not sure if I consider myself a big bad in any other situation :P LOTR freaked me out for sure, I saw it when I was a lot younger and even more scared too lol. Oh yes, I heard that series started! Oh yeah this was definitely them doing a love letter to horror tropes. Hahaha I wonder....!!! LOL yes, Ezra finally swept Sabine off her feet!! Yeah the rest of our crew for sure doesn't like this either, despite the main focus being on Hera. Oh yeah an owl plus somber music equals nothing good. I do wonder how they're being tracked!! AHHHHHH what a choice lol! Hahahaha oh I did feel like this could be a nightmare....a very GRIMM nightmare.....!!!!!!!!!!! XD

Yep, R2 for all his heroics, never got a base named after him, Chopper is one-up on him there!! The owl has a story of its own, and you have seen it before, not just in Clone Wars either - much more on that later however! Brace yourself for the next few episodes, it is one hell of a finale to the season! ;)

That owl is called a convor and it’s actually been in both the Clone Wars finale as well as Ahsoka’s episode in the Mandalorian :)

Hahaha poor R2! But yay Chopper Base! I'm hearing that it also showed up in the Mandalorian as well as having to do with Mortis!!! :O I'm watching the last 2 of the season today, pray for me lol!!

Yeah I guess it's kind of a spoiler even though I've seen that arc already so I guess I could have put it together on my own? I didn't though haha. Oof this finale hit me hard!!!
