Hey everyone!  Here I am with Red vs. Blue, season 10, eps 17 - 19!  Whoa!!  Lots going on in this one....we finally get to see how things went down with Tex, when Wash had Epsilon, the confrontation between York and Carolina, and even Carolina "dying"...!!!  Oh yeah, and the uprising of the Meta, super scary!!!  And in present time, it would seem that Church unlocking those memories made him a bit more aggressive towards their mission??  That's how I read it!  It's so sad to see them all at odds with each other, but DANG the satisfaction it gave me to see Wash stand up for his friends!!  I knew I was right to love him lol!  Cannot wait for the finale!!  Great eps!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Okay timeline wise this all took place years before the mini serieses, because Tex goes on her mission with York around seasons 4 and 5. And by that point she had been brought back to the program and forgotten all of this. Because when Tex and Church first meet again in RvB season 1. They act like. "Yeah we were part of this project" And Church would talk about how he didn't like it and had a feeling Tex was being used. But turned out he had altered the memories he had left to believe he was human. Tex never shows any signs of knowing more. She became a Freelancer trying to stop the aliens in the war. My guess is at some point the director found her and did something to give her the same sort of amnesia as Church. (Can't imagine how she forgot all this, what he did to her.) Also alot don't notice this. But where the ship lands is the base that Tex and Epsilon visited before in the previous arc. When Epsilon says, "I remember this place. Wait... why do I?" And then Tex tells him, this is where Alpha was kept and after we went rogue (her and York and North) we were determined to find the Alpha and free him. But he was already to broken by the time she got to him. Also fun fact, when Alpha recalls Tex, he says that she was fighting alot of guys in a snowbank. At the "outpost" he had been stationed at. It's fascinating seeing what Alpha remembers even if the details got scrambled for him. He didn't even know why Tex was fighting in that memory but that she quote, "left him alive." Memory is quite an interesting thing.

Can't wait for the finale. It's gonna be good.

Some comments mentioned this before but this season really reminds me of Star Wars, particularly the last couple episodes of Star Wars The Clone Wars and Revenge of The Sith with how we had Tex and Church talk about the Freelancers and later we go back in time and find out what they were like and seeing all the Trauma that Alpha, Epsilon, and Wash went through, seeing them turn against eachother and Maine pretty much losing himself completely to Sigma and becoming the Meta, killing all the Freelancers and taking their A.I. and equipment. The fight between Tex and Carolina on a falling ship on the glass really reminded me of the boss fight between Starkiller and Rahm Kota in Star Wars The Force Unleashed. The lighter that Carolina threw was York's lighter when they first met at Club Errera. She just throws it in his face. And while that fight was happening the music that played was a sad piano version of Carolina's theme. Really looking forward to the last batch.

"I don't know what's gotten into you, but you need to figure out the difference between your enemies, and your friends." - Carolina to Tex, after their fight with CT Carolina just had her words thrown right back in her face by Wash, without him even realizing he was doing it. I think she's focused so much on being better than Tex, that she's taken on the worst aspects of her to do so.

I’m reading all these comments. And I have watched the entire show so many times. Maybe 100 times. And all of these points I never even thought of. So thank you to everyone in the comments not just making it clear to her but also helping some of us who have seen it so many times understand it even more.

Zach Feifel

Can't wait for the next batch. You will cry. Hard. It will be ugly and I cannot wait to see it. I love your reactions.

After ten seasons, there’s finally an answer. The Director is why everyone is here. Either directly or indirectly everything he’s done has led to this point. “I know who you are, Texas. And I won’t take orders from a shadow.” -Connie So based on this, Connie knew already that Texas was the “Beta” as opposed to the Alpha. This is when I remind you that the Epsilon unit was the memories of Alpha and that it tried to kill itself while being surgically implanted into Washington’s head. The result of this was so concerning that they scrapped further implantation of AI units. Is Caboose starting to ship Washington and Carolina based on what he said about “taking their relationship to the next level”? That seems a little volatile at this point… but he probably doesn’t have any concept of that. 😂 Carolina’s gotten so obsessive over getting Justice for herself that she’s become the same kind of tunnel visioned narrow minded person at this point. Case in point: Last batch: Carolina: “Will the others be joining us on this mission?” Director: “Leave personnel decisions to me, Agent Carolina.” This batch: Carolina: “Leave personnel decisions to me, Agent Washington.” Regarding Church it’s probably overwhelming that everything came back at once and he just sort of snaps on everyone. The fact he’s in the holo room makes it that much more potent visually. But it also puts off all his friends and they all leave. Even Caboose… the one person who’d do almost anything for him. He does t say a word. He doesn’t need to. Walking away says everything. Meanwhile Washington repeats a line to Carolina that was uttered in the Project Freelancer scenes -although I can’t remember who was saying it to who at the time: “I don’t know what’s going on with you… but you need to start telling your enemies… from your friends.” Carolina’s getting very close to becoming the very thing she’s trying to destroy. Okay, so in the last episode there’s a lot that’s happening: but I’ll just hit the bullet points. York STILL can’t pick a lock undetected. He never has been able to. Texas’ raid on the facility is because of all the information Connie left her. I should point out that clip of Allison saying goodbye is present visually in the files she’s looking at (they played during the Washington surgery scene.) The scene with Texas punching a grenade back at a soldier while fighting on a tank is a reference to something Monty demonstrated personally at a panel he appeared at. The fight between York and Carolina would be the last time they saw each other, given what happens after. The lighter Carolina tossed up after him is the lighter from the nightclub where they first met, if you remember that story. The crash site for the ship is where everyone went at the end of Season 8. Also referring to Season 8, the scene between Tex and Church is literally being replayed here - but this time the roles are reversed as previously Church was the one trying to chill Tex down. So now it’s come full circle. Meanwhile, the Meta has literally been created by Sigma and you’ll notice Tex had a very visceral reaction to Carolina’s “death.” As Church said later, Tex commented she’d do anything for her, but Carolina didn’t buy it. Regarding her fall, obviously this is why Tex thinks she’s dead. However this will not be rectified during the series itself and it’s really hard to piece together unless you go over everything with a fine tooth comb. Carolina still has the grappling hook gun from the Spiral mission on her, and she also used it to pull Wash in the ship earlier this season. She still has it. Now, a bit of housekeeping because it’s important: Don’t worry, I’m not going to spoil anything. But in the last episode there’s a very key visual cue for context - so please make sure you’re paying close attention on Episode 22 - it’s important. :) Second: the last episode should have full credits at the end. Do not skip through these. Repeat: DO NOT SKIP THROUGH THESE. There’s more content inside. As far as the OST, you doing good there? I’ll release the next information sometime this weekend but I’m off to Las Vegas Fri-Sun so it might not be up quite as early as it usually is. I’d say goodbye for now, but neither Church or Tex would like that. 🙃

This is all kinds of messed up, Maines manipulation made into the meta, the sad fights, church losing his cool, freelancers being taken out, the bad placed timed ads. Oh gosh the bad placed timed ads! 👊😖 Im just gonna soak every detail till next week. I can't cope with it all rn

Jacob Laflamme

So, Texas broke out just after seeing those files. Hence, she had no way of knowing that Epsilon was all of Alpha's memories, split off because they caused him too much pain. She thought Alpha was aware he was being tortured, but it took the form of endless impossible scenarios where he saw people he cared about die because of his failure over and over, so he wasn't actually aware they were splitting off pieces of himself, until Epsilon. Hence why Texas was confused that Alpha didn't want to leave the Project; he was in a horrible, confused state with no memories, and so didn't know that where he was was a horrible place to stay.

Jacob Laflamme

Regarding Allison, she died during the Human-Covenant war, and her leaving was that memory that kept flashing in front of Wash's eyes. She is the Beta fragment; the Director, and thus Alpha, was so focused on their memories of her that when Alpha was created, Beta was as well. She was then installed in a robotic body and given a convincing reason for not having a human one. Hence, why she never used the locker room except for that one time she was looking for Carolina, why she had her own personal medics after York's training injury, and why her arm sparked after being hit in the same scene. After her ship was blown up by the Reds and she crashed, her AI somehow ended up in the freelancer storage site where she kicked the guys' asses.

Chase Lazration

I love how Maine picks up Carolina the same way he picked up Tex in Season 8

kamenriderhime

Right?! It's all so sad! Hahha the ads were the saddest!!! Sorry :( It's a lot right?! I can't wait for the finale but I'm scared!!

kamenriderhime

That's awesome, so glad you could find new details to enjoy! I love getting all this info, it truly makes my reactions so much more enjoyable!!!

kamenriderhime

Ohhh yeah she did! Good call. And yes, it's like she's adopted a lot of the worse tendencies on her mission to try and prove she's better.

kamenriderhime

Oh thanks for clarifying! That makes a lot of sense. Who knows how the Director could have gotten her to forget, but it seems she did. OHHHHH that was the same place? I don't think I did catch that, but how fitting! That makes the quote about the outpost make more sense too. Memory is indeed a fascinating thing!

kamenriderhime

Oh I could totally see that! Even the fighting has similarities like you said. Thanks for clarifying about the lighter too. Ohhhh the music....! Can't wait to see the finale!

kamenriderhime

Yes, it was the Director all along! That quote is pretty powerful, whoa. Yeah, she had that knowledge before anyone else in the group did. Yes, I was reminded of what happened with Epsilon, I think, somewhere in my comments on the last ep. Horrifying!! Hahah Caboose may not be fully understanding the details of that relationship, but a ship's a ship I suppose! Oof, right down to the quote, Carolina is becoming the Director! Poor York! Right, that's what I thought - it wasn't the AIs, but the info. The clip of Allison was so wild to see. No kidding, that's awesome about the Monty reference! I do remember now about the story of how they met, that's what the lighter was in reference to. So sad that this was their last meeting! Oh yes, I think someone pointed that out about the crash site! And the Church/Tex scene! Truly full circle. The Meta was so creepy! And yeah, I think Tex felt very differently about Carolina than Carolina felt about Tex. Ok, I'll be sure to pay close attention on ep 22!! Ok no skipping the credits, got it!!! Yup, got all the OST info, thanks for checking! Oh, have fun in Vegas! Hahah yeah they wouldn't approve of that word :P

kamenriderhime

Thanks for clarifying! That makes total sense that he'd be really disoriented but Tex wouldn't be aware of that due to not knowing all the Epsilon stuff.

kamenriderhime

Wow, I feel like I knew that about his extreme focus producing the "Beta" of Allison but thanks for the reminder! Makes total sense as to why she'd need literal special treatment on everything. I appreciate you clearing up the timeline/details!!! There's so much they're fleshing out from previous seasons here that it's nice to have the refresher!

Pinkandahalf

The current Tex was extracted from Epsilon. The original Tex, Beta, was in the Meta when the EMP went off. You can actually find her in the group shot of the AIs.

2022-12-31 00:12:05 This set of episodes has so many hype & shocking moments. I knew you would be really excited and engaged great reaction. It’s great to see Sarge being sensible and from the way he’s talking it seems like he’s tired. It’s interesting/crazy to think about the fact that so many of the events in the show are because of the Director. I like that Wash hearing this & other moments with the guys this season influence what he does at the end of this set. I love the conversation between Church and Carolina about Tex. I think it’s important that Carolina talks about her anger and hatred since it is probably necessary for her letting things go. It’s interesting to learn that there’s more we don’t know about Tex with her seeing Carolina as a friend possibly due to the information she knew. I love Church’s point about Tex not being the best it’s harsh and sad but needs to be said. The voice acting shows Carolina’s inferiority complex well. I think it’s a great decision to have Tex go through the files faster & faster as we see what happens with Washington as a way to represent the intensity of everything. Also it’s interesting that Tex is seeing the video of Allison while Wash is seeing the actual memory of her. The reason the Director wanted to see Washington immediately after the surgery went wrong was to make sure he didn’t see any memories of any of the confidential and illegal things the project was doing. The entire scene of Maine or should I say the Meta suiting up is very unsettling/disturbing because of the music and knowing that Sigma is now in control. The fire is a little cliché but I like the shade of red that was used for Sigma. The tattoo is the symbol Sigma created after the class where he asked about the meta stage of AI development. The Director didn’t want anyone to know about the Meta so he blames Tex to protect his secrets and she did defect so it was easy to motivate people to go after her because he wants her under his control. I like that because of their conversation North trusts Tex and makes a very good point that she would not leave evidence if she did attack Wyoming. And of course the Director would care more about the project over his soldiers. Poor York can never catch a break with lock picking. I’m glad Carolina & Church decided to start being upfront with the others unfortunately it was a little late to get their trust. Honestly I don’t blame them for being tired of risking their lives all the time. Also even if it wasn’t her intent Carolina did seem willing to put them in a lot of danger. Not being willing to help Church did suck but Church being so harsh was unnecessary. I think his anger at what they put him through was genuine but I agree with you that having all his memories back amplified that anger a lot. And obviously he didn’t mean everything but once he realized he had gone too far it was too late. I love Wash’s character development coming to the defense of his new friends. Seeing all of them slowly leave was sad especially Caboose because of who he is/what he’s like. Church’s regret is well conveyed by the voice acting. Nice discussion about the 2 of them starting to become like the Director. All of the action of episode 19 is absolutely incredible especially with one of my favorite songs from this show playing during the action. The choreography is impressive and really gets the audience hype. Using pickaxes as weapons is brutal & metal as hell. It was great to see York getting to show off his awesome skills when taking down Wyoming. York grabbing a pinup of a sexy lady at the end of the fight is a funny detail. I love York doing everything to cause as much trouble as he possibly can. The whole who is shooting at us? We are. Part feels like it describes the entire project as a whole. Carolina vs York is extremely emotional for anyone who loves his character. I think what makes It hit so much is how hard he’s trying to help her as well as the slower music. It’s frustrating & sad that she can’t accept the help and is unable to see the truth. Her giving him the lighter back probably hurt more than anything physical she did to him. Tex and Carolina’s fight is great & satisfying because of all the buildup in the past that has led to this. Also fighting on top of the front window of a space ship is a crazy visual. The entire conversation between Tex and Alpha is just sad especially his demeanor being very confused after losing much of much of his memory during the creation of Epsilon. I like how their voices are much gentler here because of what Alpha has gone through & Tex’s understanding of the situation. The goodbye line hurts. It was rough watching how Carolina was attacked by someone who used to be her friend. To be honest everyone thinking she was dead probably protected her from the director going after her. The way the episode ends with the Meta saying they will get Tex eventually is scary. I’m glad you enjoy the action scenes in this show as much as you do. I would say a lot of the parts in the past give you a lot to think of that but I think this episode in the past is something to dwell on a lot. Awesome reaction & discussions. Keep up the great work. :-) <3

It does!!! Yeah it's always jarring when Sarge makes sense, you can tell things are wearing on him. I love the cumulative effect that interacting with our crew has had on Wash, too. Yes the scene about Tex was great and in retrospect, makes SO much sense! The editing for Wash's and Tex's scenes was done so well, and thanks for clarifying about why everything got scrapped after that! The Meta emerges, what a moment! So sad to think Maine lost control to Sigma. I agree about the fire, it's a nice touch! Ohhh thanks for clarifying about the tattoo. Yeah if Tex really wanted to go through with that, there wouldn't be any evidence. Poor York lol! Yeah I get all sides of the argument when it comes to Church/Carolina vs. the rest of our crew. They both have some good points but it's always sad to see friends part, especially after all they've been through! Good point that awareness of what he'd gone through would make Church angry too. I adored Wash defending his friends!!! The song, action, etc. during that scene was fire!!! The pinup lol!!! Priorities I guess :P Oh man, the "we are" statement really does sum things up doesn't it. I know, the lighter!!! Sad :( And the Tex/Alpha scene was so heartbreaking on a whole new level. Ahhhhh the goodbye line :(((( The Meta is scary for sure. Yes I love the action!!! Gotta say I think the action on this show (and RWBY) is like the best action I've ever seen. Thank you so much, I'm happy you enjoyed my reaction and discussions!! Thanks for being so awesome and sorry I took forever to get back to you!!!!!!!!!
