Hey everyone! Here's my next reaction to MHA! Wow you guys, how do they ALWAYS GET ME with these villain stories!?!? It makes me wish we could all know each other's life before we started fighting! A lot of the villains and the heroes would have more in common than they thought...! I can't believe Mr. Compress is trying to carrying on his great grandfather's legacy of being a Robin Hood type, that's so not what they're gonna bring about! Under All For One's direction, all there will be is destruction - no justice! Speaking of which, Izuku recognizes something about Shigaraki now that he's been possessed by All For One - that he needs saving!!! OMG D: Great ep! Enjoy! ~ MH

2023-01-27 03:09:50 I love this episode especially for the Compress and Spinner stuff. The flashback is so good I love that it’s from Compress’s perspective. It fleshes out the world and makes sense especially if you think about the X men but it sucks that discriminatory groups like this exist in the MHA world like the real world. Also I have heard that Spinner was the one who suggested going after this group in the manga & it’s implied that the league went after them for him in addition to trying to find money which is a great way to the camaraderie of the league. It’s actually really sad that for a while they were living in poverty. I love hearing more about what led Spinner to the league and why he became a villain which has only been hinted at before. His background being connected to discrimination shows more of the flawed nature of hero society. Also discrimination/racism is often more prevalent in rural areas where he grew up. It’s sad that he just accepted that stuff as something normal he couldn’t change. I love seeing him ask Shigaraki what their goal is making him actually think about what he wants. Also this interaction actually happens right before they all 1st encounter Machia & the doctor for the 1st time where Shigaraki talks about his dream to destroy everything which was a direct response to Spinner’s questions and in turn inspires and makes Spinner want to follow and become devoted to Shiggy. I love Compress talking about the league not being united while there is the image of the rafters literally separating them. A lot of this Spinner stuff was supposed to be in season 5 so I’m glad it’s being shown now. It’s nice to hear that Compress also found a place to belong in the league. I think the way he escaped his bindings and exploit Best J’s weakness even though it was dangerous and hard to watch him destroy his body. The Oji connection to Compress was really awesome and interesting. Especially because while I was watching a video or something before the episode & I just randomly thought I wonder if Oji is connected to him somehow and I was so excited/happy to have been right. Also some people I saw reacting to this episode thought he was handsome when he took off his mask. The fact that he is related to a Robin Hood like character and that he strives for social reform makes things more complicated and maybe ironic what side he’s on because like you said it’s not the way to do it. Unfortunately at the present time many people see these kinds of terrible things as the only way to create real change. It’s crazy to see how much stronger Toya’s flames are compared to Shoto. It’s honestly admirable that Compress save his friends and allies. It’s harmful for his own well-being but it says a lot about Izuku that his 1st thought when waking up is if his friend is okay. I love this new quirk not only because it’s basically Spidey sense but also once he gets control of this power it will be so useful. The creator of this series loves comics but especially loves Spider-Man so a lot of Izuku’s powers being similar to or being able to be connected to that character makes a lot of sense. I’m interested in seeing how this power will be used as well as how powerful it will be and it’s limitations because Spider-Man has done some crazy stuff with that power. I love Compress’s theatrical and performer word play. It sucks that he is sacrificing so much and all he can do is buy time and cause distractions emphasized by him desperately grabbing at Mirio’s cape. Also I want to point out that music that often plays for heroes was playing for Compress’s escape act. The emphasis of Spinner’s devotion is great. Before all for one resurfacing was revealed I thought the stuff focusing on Shigaraki’s origins was great and it still is for showing how his character got to this point. The imagery of his house and family burning away alongside the music is well done and chilling. The idea that his understandable, rightful even anger and hatred just makes all for one’s vestige stronger and able to more easily control Shigaraki is horrifying and so messed up especially with the way his body is contorting and the sounds are disturbing. It is intelligent to give him a power to communicate with the Nomu if the tech was destroyed even if it’s a bad thing. All for one being very up front with how selfish he is and how much he doesn’t care about his allies shows how audacious he is. Also Spinner’s realization of this is really sad to see. The twisted logic that Shigaraki should be punished for failing is not surprising but not any less messed up. Seeing all the heroes giving it their all to stop him and being stopped at every turn just sucks. And it is probably the worst for Izuku who doesn’t want to be useless, most likely has some insecurities related to that and in this moment feels the most useless even though it’s not true. Although the way he keeps going with out arms and legs is awesome & insane. Seeing the remaining heroes rushing to the scene as well as how broken and beaten everyone is feels so defeating. Also something very interesting is that the part of the song Might U that was used here ends at the low point of the song before the vocals & instrumentals swell back up really does a good job of delivering the tone of failure and hopelessness but also resolve & hope. The sun coming out from the clouds and shining down on all the destruction to me represents there is still hope but also represents how bad things are. I think your discussion of the heroes and villains as well as your thoughts on Shigaraki & all for one were great. Awesome reaction & discussion and keep up the great work. :-) <3

That's so true about the discriminatory stuff happening in other hero universes like X-Men too. Getting to see Spinner's background was great! No kidding that a lot of it was supposed to be in season 5! Yeah no kidding about Compress' background! I love the idea of a Robin Hood but sadly like you said, things have gone so far now that the idea of shaking things up in the name of change has taken on a much more extreme idea. No kidding, I can totally see the love for Spider-Man!!! And yeah, Toya's flames are crazy strong. Yeah watching Compress struggle and sacrifice was intense, it's even more intense that they played hero music for it, sheesh, really blurring the lines here! Shigaraki's origins were done so well for sure. Yeah at least AFO is honest about not giving a hoot! It's gotta be hard for people like Spinner to see and accept that. It's so sad to see the heroes try and try and not succeed, especially Izuku. I know, the use of Might + U was really interesting and I agree it gave overtones of hope even in these dark times! I'm so happy you enjoyed my discussion! Thanks so much for all your kindness and support!!!!!! ^_^ Sorry for the late reply!!

Now that the arc is over get ready for Dekus best arc coming up

It seems like Midoriya's humanizing of villains is the sort of thing Toga is looking for, that she's a person and not just a force that needs to be stopped. Not sure how she'd feel about the idea that she needs "saving" from her villainous urges, though. As things are now, there's no telling when or if they'll get to have that conversation, as her encounter with Uraraka seems to have answered her questions for now.

Spadeas

Hi Hime :) Yes All for One is, as its name suggests, selfish and centered simply on itself. So does the league, focused on their own issues, but the difference is that AfO was never shunned by society, he was one of the biggest villains of the early quirk era, a real crime lord. The league wants to destroy society to rebuild on a new basis, erase what made them suffer. AfO wants to submit everyone to his power. Really different goals and even if it's extreme, the league has good reasons behind it in a way, whereas AfO just wants the power. It says in terms of writing, a good villain is a villain that you would like to see succeed, MHA has some that you would like to save if possible, which is not that far away. The advantage of MHA is that you have people who have suffered from the same problem, on each side of the law. Whether it's the villains and the heroes/students, there are some who have quirks more associated with evil (Toga with blood and Shinso with his brainwashing) or whose appearance could repel (Spinner or Shoji), this It's not just your quirks that define you, not how you grow up with them, but what you decide to do with them.

What got me about Deku’s last thoughts about Shigaraki is that the words were very close to what he said when he saved Bakugo in S1E2. “You looked like you were asking for help.”->“You looked like you wanted to be rescued.”

kamenriderhime

That's a great point actually! I'm not sure about the encounter either, I guess we'll see what happens. I doubt Toga would take to kindly to the idea of "saving" from her urges, but something tells me the League will need saving from All for One pretty soon :/

kamenriderhime

Hi Spadeas! :) Yeah, pretty much! That's the thing, AfO can't relate to what they've been through either. So well said that the goals are totally different. So true about the writing for villains, many times I've found myself rooting for them (maybe not what they're doing specifically, but for them the characters). Such a great point too, that both sides have had negative issues with some of their quirks. It's a shame that at the end of the day, the root of what everyone wants isn't so different - for people not to have to suffer. It's just that the League has taken to extreme measures to see that through!

2022-12-31 00:09:56 Yes, I'm dissapointed that it ends here, but we still have the consequences of this war, I just hope we're gonna get the next arc sooner than later cause I've been spoiled a bit by some manga panels and daymn...I'm thirsty for drama xD Loved your reaction, gonna wait for the next one, and please, for the love of the Lord....keep a pack of tissues near you at all times! You should be aware by now that animes use domestic violence against you ><
