Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to season 4, episode 14 of REBELS!!!!  OMG another great one!!!!  HONDOOOO!!!  And our clone crew!!!!  We've put together quite a little squad here, and I LOVE the double-triple cross that we had with this plan!  They almost had me going for a minute!  Of course Pryce would be fooled into falling into this trap - and was even arrogant enough to stand there confidently after she knew it was a trap!!!  Like that wouldn't have something amazing up their sleeves like....WOOOOOLLLVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!  You heard it here first, dogoos will save the world!!!  I've been saying it for ages!!!!  So proud of our crew, we most definitely needed this!!!!!!!!!!  Next one is the finale.....so bittersweet!!!  Great ep!  Enjoy!!!  ~ MH

I'd love to chat more about Ahsoka now that I'm caught up!! Ohhh no kidding about the LotR reference, so cool! It is jarring to see Rex in the rebel gear right! Haha I love the idea that the Ghost is a bona fide Rebel too, not just a ship! That's awesome about the AT-AT upgrade, such a nice touch! And who would've thought Hondo would become such a warm-hearted ally?! It's all on Ezra now for sure. Yeah I don't like Pryce but seeing her squirm is alright haha. Chopper takes no prisoners, dang!!! Yeah Zeb looked like a boss!! Ohhh the cave moment is so good. He's really come into his own here. Such an iconic visual! Yeah they've got some stuff to work out, those wolves lol. OMG I hear you, I usually don't go in for unnecessary violence but, in Pryce's case, I'll make an exception haha. Losing the base is too bad but they got Pryce! HAHAHAHAHAHA the squeaky cut, omg!!!! I'm grateful that such a thing exists, holy cow!!! I need it released immediately!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay, thanks! Ezra's come into his own for sure. Oh that's so true about the callback to connecting with the animals, only now he's fully let go of fear and anger. I love this crew we've put together! Ohhh I'm sorry, I never should have doubted Mr. Krabs hahha!! No kidding that the VA has been in the franchise so much, wow! The double-triple cross was a nice touch though. Ohhhh I hope Rex knows about Ahsoka!

I love how even so close to the end Rebels doesn't shy away from its more comedic elements. And excited for Bad Batch!

Vader thought Ahsoka was dead, as just before he falls through the floor at the Malachor Temple, he sees she isn't there. We can talk about the Ahsoka show after Rebels is finished if you like, as by then you will have caught up with the rest of us about moving forward and specluate about what will be in it; though I do know one or two things that have been leaked (there is still The Bad Batch of course but that is currently running so will be its own thing just now I reckon). This episode's title "A Fool's Hope" is from Lord Of The Rings (there are many nods to Lord Of The Rings throughout this series). I don't know if you have read the books Mel or seen the movies; but there is a line from Gandalf in it where he says "there was never much hope... only a fool's hope" - him being the fool who organised the plan to send Frodo to Mount Doom. As The Ghost flies in and we see Rex, he is donning the rebel armour that will be seen in Return Of The Jedi; to see a clone from the prequels, swap clone armour for Rebel Alliance gear in the original trilogy is brilliant but also discombobulating! We haven't seen much of The Ghost in season 4 as its been off with Rex, Kallus and the other rebels at Yavin doing missions for them. To me this suggests now, its not so much just Hera's ship, but a rebel in its own right! Wolffe and Gregor have upgraded from their fallen republic tank, to the AT-AT that Kanan, Zeb, Sabine and Ezra used to save them, love it! And we see why Hera comes, to call in others to help Ezra, as he and the Jedi have helped them in the past. Even Hondo, who as two-faced as he is, always had a soft spot for the Jedi, and he really took to Ezra, so much so that now he is willing to do anything to help him. That line brings tears to my eyes, to see that Hondo has a heart in there someplace, and is willing to fight the good fight for Ezra. Ezra meditating on his own now, something I don't think we have seen before in the show as Kanan was always there and did that. Its up to him now though, and he sees its now or never if the plan is to succeed. I despise Pryce, but I kind of like seeing her becoming increasingly ruffled about finding the rebels to try to get back in Thrawn's good books. Chopper picking up that stormtrooper and dropping him to his death will never get old! I love that droid! Zeb as well with that heavy gun, they should have given him something like that earlier in the series, he looks frightening in full flight wielding that thing!! Again the music scoring is superb as Hera comes in to finish the plan to get Pryce. Using the Return Of The Jedi theme, then when the clones jump off the Ghost, they switch to their themes. Wonderful. Ezra's cave moment with the wolves sends goosebumps down my spine, its glorious. Its an echo back to the first season, when Ezra used the giant beastie to stall the Grand Inquisitor using anger and fear. Here though, he is completely balanced, in full control of his abilities, and showing his power through the force as he gives the command to the wolves to go after the stormtroopers changing the course of the battle. The image of seeing Ezra with his gorgeous green lightsabre in the darkness, followed by the light of the eyes of the wolves, may be my favourite image in all Star Wars, and that is saying something considering all the great shots we have in the franchise. Ezra is becoming a Jedi Knight... The wolves destroying the stormtroopers, this is them unleashed now, and they are dishing out some vengeance on the Empire literally. Its a horrifying sight, but they too have shown just how much they want the Empire off Lothal. I'm not a sadist, but I really enjoy seeing Pryce beg not to let the wolves tear her apart, and cower in fear. This plan cost the rebels their base here, but getting Pryce was the main goal in assisting everyone to try and rid Lothal of the Empire. Finally, a fun bit of trivia for this episode is that there was a version made for the creators where all the screams of the stormtroopers, as they are taken out by the wolves, were replaced by squeaks from chew toys! I hope that gets released one day - go on Filoni, release the squeaky cut!! :D

Another fabulous episode, and glad you liked it, Mel. One thing that stands out for me in this episode is again how far Ezra has come, with the help of Kanan and the rest of the Ghost crew. He has now taken the lead, just as Kanan had predicted he would need to in Jedi Night, and just as he had ultimately been trained to do. One direct comparison that illustrates this involve Ezra in season 1 episode “Gathering Forces”. Remember when Kanan and Ezra lured the grand inquisitor to that old disused clone army asteroid base? They managed to defeat the grand inquisitor because Ezra connected with the nocturnal monsters but in doing so he gave in to the dark side by calling on the really big one with his anger and fear. In this episode he similarly calls upon the wolves to attack, but he does so in a calm, focused and determined manner, but devoid of fear and anger. It’s a powerful moment. Also, of course love that Honda, Kallus, Rex, Wolfe, and Gregor are back, as well as others. Honda had come a long way since the Clone Wars, and we see the influence of all his interactions with Jedi, including Ezra, has had on him: he is genuinely risking his neck for the rebellion now. My only complaint is that you momentarily doubted the loyalty of a character played by the voice actor of Mr Krabs in SpongeBob SquarePants (Clancy Brown!). Quite shocking 😀 But that double cross was well done and I was certainly doubting Ryder when I watched this the first time. Do you reckon that the whole ghost crew, including Rex, now know Ahsoka is alive?

Hmm, so the trope of “we’re going to make the opposition think we have a traitor” has been done a lot, but what they did here was a bit more clever: first, they let it string on for a bit, and second, everyone else acted like they didn’t know anything. The thing though is, I kept being skeptical because Ezra and Hera seemed to be expecting to meet up with each other and didn’t seem all that flustered. Though, when Hondo’s around, things seldom go completely according to plan, do they…. Sabine mentioned it at the start of the episode but it’s still really unclear just what his connection with the Loth-wolves entails. (Maybe he’s got Stark blood in him… wait, wrong series again.) I guess if you asked Ryder about this mission he’s probably tell you the Pryce of victory was right? Also the Stormtroopers are all upset because Chopper’s over here doing cliffhangers. So it sounds like there’s going to be another battle involving Lothal for the finale… but you already know who’s going to show up because he was nowhere to be found in this last arc and he’s too big a plot point to leave unaddressed. :) I’m calling it now: Chopper becomes a Jedi Master and saves the day all by himself - and then turns his family into his loyal servants to wait on hand and foot… too much? I should probably stop for the day. 😅

Oh I've seen Clancy Brown play plenty of baddies in the past, even multiple times here in Star Wars itself with Savage Opress, the Inquisitor in Tales Of The Jedi that Ahsoka slays with ease, and the red Devaronian in Mandalorian that Din has trouble taking down. If anyone could have pulled off the double cross, it would be him!

Saltire

Chopper a Jedi Master? Can't see that, but I could see him being a Sith Lord! Imagine the horror!

Manny

I was shocked and hugely disappointed too but a part still couldn’t believe Rider “ratted” them out. Phew that bugged me throughout the whole episode 😮‍💨

Glad to hear Bad Batch is after this! (the 1st season anyway haha). Looking forward to next week :)

Yeah they got me there for a second! Hahahaha Hondo is a wild card :D LOL yeah wrong series but Ezra has always seemed to have a connection to animals and creatures. HAHAHAHAHA stop I'm having pun overload!!!! OMG I've seen the finale now (filmed it a bit early) and WOW is all I have to say!!! HAHAHA the alternate ending with Chopper sounds like a winner too :P Chopper being a sith lord makes WAY too much sense!!! Move over Emperor, the galaxy's got a new ruler! I like this one a lot better :P
