This has been a long time coming for fans like me because we've literally been waiting for this for 10 years.

Hi Hime :) In Alice, the White Rabbit is always late. Jaune going back in time is not behind, but too far ahead now. Nice irony on the part of the authors... You noted it yourself but yes, Lewis is of course a reference to Lewis Carroll. The question I ask myself is, they assume it was Alyx who came back to their world and told her story, but what if it was Lewis instead ? To make it the author would be most relevant and he would have written this story so that people take his sister's example to improve themselves. When Ruby walks past one of the water mirrors, we see Summer reflected in it. For Weiss it is Atlas that falls. For Jaune it's Penny and the young him. All this seems to be related to what is troubling them at the moment, Ruby looking for herself, Weiss who no longer has a home and Jaune Penny's death and his past mistakes. For a brief moment, after Jaune takes Alyx's poison, you see the cat's eyes behind Alyx. Did he just observe or was he the instigator ? Regarding Jaune, given how he is now, I wonder if he would like to come back to Remnant... He seems to have made his life here and given up on who he was (well, not quite since he has Juniper). I don't really like to think about that, but that's the direction the story seems to be going... What I would love for him would be for him to come back with the girls and reunite with Lewis, because from the way he talks about him, I feel like there could be something between them and that's all I wish for him. Now some lyrics from BMBLB: There's a garden where I go If you meet me there, no one will know In the springtime, in the sun We can be alone without anyone Now the flowers are in bloom And you've chased away my darkness and gloom When the wind blows through the trees And your voice is like a song in the breeze My doubts disappear every time that you're near Clouds seem to run from the sky The thought of your kiss Sends my soul into bliss, I get high I suspect that they didn't necessarily have the scene in mind at the time of writing the song, but we can appreciate that CRWBY is paying homage to this one with this scene.

I personally think the Cat is mostly disappointed that team RWBY distrusts them so easily. They don't seem to grasp that their job to "help" Afterans seems to be them manipulating people without their consent. This is where the divide between people from two different worlds comes to light. And technically team RWBY never told the Cat that they only spend time with them to get to the tree. But team RWBY being upset about the Cat's manipulation while technically also manipulating the Cat is a valid point to be upset about.

The flowers that show up when Yang and Blake finally confess their feelings are White Lillies which symbolize "Rebirth" and "Purity" and are often used at Weddings (And in Yuri Manga since Lily in Japanese literally translates to Yuri lol) so not only did Yang and Blake get together on that platform they were basically Wed on that platform. :)

As someone who has been a fan of RWBY and Bumbleby for only 4 or so years, I am so happy for all of the people who have been fans of them for 10 years! We finally had our moment! We now live in a post-bumbleby confession/kiss world!! And it was so sweet. My favourite thing about it is that they both highlight aspects of each other that they didnt always experience in their lives. "You do what you say" from Blake about Yang directly links with her experiences and trauma surrounding her relationship with Adam. And how it's so important to her that Yang is the type of person that is honest and true (and good but that's a given). "You never give up. You know what matters to you." About Blake from Yang connects to how Yang has had people (ie Raven) abandon her because they gave up. And while yes Blake left too she didnt give up and eventually came back to stick around, which I imagine is also extremely important to Yang. The dynamic of Ruby and Jaune has always been a favourite of mine because they were the sparks of light for their respective teams that led them into battle with hope that their fight will lead to a better tomorrow, but while they were burdened with that responsibility, they could still lean on each other. But now, not only are they both dealing with their own respective traumas, they are both now in two different places experience wise and in terms of dealing with their trauma. Jaune is pushing them away emotionally while still trying to be physically there for them, and I think its because he now feels even more responsiblity for them in the sense that BECAUSE he has been in the Ever After longer he knows its ways and now has to be like a guide and protector for them - not to mention he no longer sees life the same way some of the others would anymore. Like his only purpose in the narrative now is to be the adult that guides the kids home with no support to lean on. Whereas Ruby feels like she cant lean on anyone at all anymore, she has to bare her burden on her own, because if she doesnt who even is she? And even then! She's still not sure if she still wants to do that, not sure if she was to deal with the burden and stress that seems to come with being a silver eyed warrior huntress, being a leader... being Ruby Rose. The two brightest lights who used to burn together in a similar spark, have dimmed. And it's so sad to see. So yes alot of sweetness this ep but a lot of pain! And I'm sure there is even more to come!

Sunset

Also a little thing to remember "[weapons] are extensions of ourselves! They're a part of us!" ... and yet Ruby seems to be rejecting Crescent Rose here...

tishfish1145

ITS BEEN 84 YEARS… no but seriously i’ve been waiting 10 years lmao. it was so beautiful and all i could have ever wanted. i’m so happy, this has made my year!

Darren

She looked at Cresant Rose with such anger :( she adores that weapon :( I do remeber in episode 3 the cat did mention he had seen humans before in a sense but he worded it different, like it said "less interesting then the others i met" . I personally dont think he will stay older when he leaves, i think they all go back to their original time but he will retain that experience but who knows lol i feel the next few episodes are gonna be crazy xxx

OMG, there is so much I want to say, but I'll try to keep it short. The Bmblb kiss was everything, it was so beautifully done! I didn't think it would ever happen, but they're finally cannon now! I've been shipping them since volume 5. Barbara and Arynn did such amazing voice work in that scene, I wish they would've said more things that they love about each other. But since it's only a 17-18 minute episode they didn't have a lot of time. I am forever grateful to the entire RWBY team for gifting us with such a beautiful moment! I remember in the beginning when Blake was saying how life isn't like a fairytale, but she got pretty much the most fairytale style kiss/declaration of love. Yang said that she chose to be a huntress because she wanted an adventure where she wouldn't know what tomorrow would bring, then she discovered that falling in love can be the greatest adventure ever! I am a 33 year old man, and when Blake and Yang said I love you to each other, I squealed like a schoolgirl. Then when Casey's vocals started playing I cried like a dang baby. Words just cannot describe how happy I am that this is now a reality! 🖤💛🖤💛🐝🐝

John J Ronald

Aside from the practical reality of the run time, I feel like the punderstorm / Ever After was giving them a subtle push....the weather cleared up but the gap widened back up as if to say "ok, quit pussy-footing around and just confess already."

John J Ronald

The most interesting thing to me is how the Curious Cat let slip that he himself genuinely wants to go see Remnant and was hurt when Alyx supposedly tricked him and left him behind in the Ever After. I'm not so sure I trust the Cat anymore myself after what Jaune had to say and his disposition towards the Cat generally. On the other hand, if Team RWBY can bring the Cat back with them to Remnant with his heart-touch magic.....he seems to have almost God-like powers ....stun Salem with a Silver Eyed blast then let the Curious Cat give Salem "a piece of my heart" and maybe she would finally "understand the importance of life and death" and find release from her curse.....or maybe find a way to banish Salem to the Ever After? The Curious Cat could be the key to turning the tide in the war, if they can patch things up with him....

John J Ronald

I'm also not sure what to make of Ruby's negative association towards being reunited with Crescent Rose....the music got ominous, the light dimmed and she seemed almost in a trance until Jaune spoke to her. She recovered enough to thank Jaune for finding and keeping Crescent Rose, but then looked back into the container with a look of anger or disgust and slammed it firmly shut. It has to be a reflection of Ruby's own self-loathing...she built Crescent Rose herself at Signal Academy under Qrow's tutelage....she related more to weapons than other people when she was younger and more awkward. With the appearance of Summer Rose reflected in the Wall of Water, maybe Ruby will offer up Crescent Rose to the Blacksmith in exchange for her Mom's weapon in the Blacksmith's shop....I would say "if she can find it again", but like the Cat spoke of the tree earlier, I think the Blacksmith and their shop/forge will find RUBY when the time is right.

John J Ronald

Gotta love the little bit of #WhiteKnight we got for old time's sake...bi-curious Weiss? Hehe. Last episode gave is a little #WhiteRose tease, when Ruby led Weiss by the hand with her other hand on Weiss's shoulder, guiding her into the heart of Jaune's hideout inside the Lotus Blossom.

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

I can't believe that scene that everyone has waited for made me tear up. I always liked The Bumblebee ship, but I was as big a fan of The Black Sun ship too. That was worth the wait.

Christopher Pope

I find it hard to express how much I am hurting for Ruby right now. It seems she feels her Summer-inspired ideals are a path to failure, but it's all she knows. I wish she'd had time to absorb what Yang said to her near the end of "Risk." Everyone's reached out to her to some degree, but I'd love to see an extended drop-everything-because-our-friend-is-more-important-than-our-situation moment.

Tyler Stobbe

There’s always a lot to unpack about the RWBY episodes, but first, glad we were able to run interference for you and make sure you were able to avoid all the carnage over the weekend. Okay, well, first off, it’s kind of interesting how when Jaune falls he sees Crescent Rose and goes straight to it, because he knows what it means… after all Ruby was gushing over it way back in Volume 1. I’ll try to get back to that later. Look, I know he’s confused… but why would you pick a strange clock fruit from a strange tree without even examining it? Clearly the consequences are what put him in this position in the first place. Yes, yes, I will address your ship and my personal feelings on it later - but don’t think I didn’t see those White Knight hints - I’m going to have my fun, I’ll let you have yours. Also the still shot of Weiss blushing after her little grin also has a very sadistic smile on Blake and Yang. They noticed. Which I prefer to read as “You were shipping us, now the shoe gets to be on the other foot…” So now that they’ve met up with Jaune, they’re up to date on what happened regarding the Relics: she has two and a maiden to get the third but no idea where it is. It’s interesting how they all argue over what they did in Atlas here - clearly the result of them failing to protect the relics and the kingdom’s destruction is weighing very heavily on all of them. Weiss wonders if they could’ve saved the place, Blake was more concerned about the fact they saved that many people, but Ruby, as Yang noted, was thinking kind of along the same line Ironwood did. What’s the point? I need to specify again just how concerning it is that none of her teammates, particularly her own sister, have picked up that Ruby is not okay currently. To be fair a lot is happening and there’s a lot they’re each having to deal with, but you’d think someone would at least notice she’s very off. According to Jaune, the tree they’ve been trying to reach is death by ascension as it erases your memories and changes your purpose. The cat so far has been very particular with what it has and hasn’t told the girls, but I do feel it’s important to point out the cat wasn’t interested in taking them to the tree in the first place: they lured it, so who is really to blame for this? Of course, just as this is coming to light, the Punderstorm hits (but Ponderstorm might be a better word for it) - basically it’s a physical manifestation of a mental or emotional problem. As Weiss says, it the pits… boy she sure likes to go from one side of the screen to the other this year, doesn’t she? Ruby does notice Blake and Yang aren’t anywhere close by, and Jaune comments they must have had bigger issues… huh, can’t imagine what they would be dealing with. So I’m not sure if you picked up on this but the water spouts that look like mirrors kind of reflect what’s on the person’s mind. When Ruby walked past one, it was very brief but it looked kind of like Summer… or was it Ruby dressed as Summer? Either way, that’s weighing heavily on her… Jaune saw Penny when he looked. I don’t need to recap the details on why he’d be thinking about her. Weiss’ mirror looked a lot more like the fall of Atlas is her biggest weight. Okay, I guess it’s time for me to get into it: first off, no, I’m not going to be a party pooper and get out the bug spray this week: honestly, I don’t think I’d have enough for this anyway. You’re already aware I’m not personally on this ship’s bandwagon, so I’ll address it from a more neutral point of view: First, I think this particular scene between the two of them is done and written quite well. It was very well executed. And I find that somewhat irritating for the following reason: how this ship has been handled leading up to this point. The relationship arc between the two of them has never seemed fluid to me. Honestly, I believe including this scene there’s a total of seven scenes in the series where they had a one-on-one conversation with each other - and most all of them had nothing to do with their own feelings. Also, I question why it was necessary to spend five volumes developing Blake’s interactions with Sun if this was originally planned. It feels like a mislead, and in the overall scheme it seems like an unnecessary switch. The biggest thing that’s bothered me about it though throughout the series is the fact that the ship itself never really weaved itself into the plot that much. It feels like every time it comes up to date we’re stopping everything else to address it. I’m not here to argue whether or not it should be happening, whether or not it was forced, or any of the other angry debates currently going on in the internet. But I also lament the fact that for the most part, it seems that all anyone cared about regarding these two characters is whether or not they’d get together and nothing about their individual development. Blake and Yang are both interesting characters already without each other, so the obsession got old for me quickly. It’s ironic because I just finished another series with two female leads in a similar dynamic, but their relationship was very well tied into the plot and everything else happening around it. I guess my feelings on the ship being confirmed overall are, I knew it was headed this way, I was under no illusions about that: but I feel like the WAY we got to this point could have been handled a lot better, both for the sake of the overall story, and for the sake of the people who actually are shippers of them. Honestly, it’s been my biggest criticism of the show since I started watching it. I am glad the payoff scene was worth the wait for those people, though. Okay, one more thing, then we’ll move on: they’ve been dealing with this will they/won’t they thing in Remnant for 2.5 years: they’ve been in the Ever After less than a day and the entire realm was already sick of it and basically told them “get over yourselves and address this already!” That’s both somewhat ironic and actually quite hilarious. It’s literally the narrative version of ripping off the bandaid. What will be interesting to see now that they’ve decided to dive head first into this is how, if at all, it will effect the storyline in the future. I’m just hoping that it becomes more integrated into the plot than it has been to date. The writing has gotten better, like I said before, so here’s hoping at least. Returning to the other crew, Jaune’s story about Alyx is troubling and obviously didn’t do a whole lot for his mental state. Of course then the cat shows up again. By the way picking up on Lewis being a reference to Lewis Carroll is a good flag. It seems that both Jaune and the cat know that only one of the siblings made it home: but neither of them were actually at the tree when it happened. The cat, it seemed wanted to go to Remnant, but was tricked by Alyx, and therefore believes the other humans were tricking it too… which isn’t really fair. Team RWBY isn’t really those kind of people but the cat doesn’t know that. Also the way it shifted the blame to Ruby was very manipulative. Oh, I need to go back to this: Jaune said Alyx changed after visiting the Herbalist… it’s somewhat safe to assume he smoked out her past as well and that might’ve changed her… which makes me wonder if something similar is currently happening to Ruby. It’s not a pleasant thought, but right now in her current state, who really does know what she’s thinking? When the storm passes, admit some rather crazy visual reveals, Jaune takes everyone to his village. It seems like the storm overall might’ve been a good thing for most of them as they kind of identified their emotional baggage. Hopefully now that we’re done with all that drama, people might be better equipped to help Ruby. Speaking of which, Jaune found Crescent Rose for her. Which everyone else is happy about but when Ruby looks at it she sees… tendril shadows and it feels very foreboding… which is extremely unlike her. We know how much she loves her weapon so for her to have that kind of reaction is telling. Jaune THINKS that Alyx traded Lewis to the tree for a ticket home. But I need to stop here and point out: neither Jaune, nor the cat, actually do know what happened. They’re all guessing. And just like Ruby is not the same girl she was two years ago, is Jaune the same person either? There’s so many moving parts to this “fairy tale…” Also, it shouldn’t be lost on people the irony of the real story being different from the fairy tale - just like the Disney versions are not the original stories. RWBY has used those quite often. Anyway, Ruby closed the lid to the box with her weapon without even touching it. Which leads me to once again wonder if what happened to Alyx is now happening to Ruby. And let’s not forget there’s another bomb that’s yet to have been dropped on her… neither Weiss or Jaune have shared the entire story about Penny with the others… and I’m not sure any of them, but Ruby in particular, are ready to hear that… Well there’s a lot to unpack this week. I hope I was able to convey my thoughts on the ship stuff without sounding like a downer because that’s not my intention here - you bee fans should enjoy the week, I’d be doing the same thing if it was my ship. But now that this episode is over, let it be known this week is the one and only reprieve you’re getting, the bug spray will be back in full force next week! You’ve been warned! BWAHAHAHAHA! 😈

Manny

Did anyone else sort of hear a “can you feel the love tonight” within the melody 🎶 💕

kamenriderhime

Hmnm, that's a good point! I think this might be a difference in ideals, and that's true that they weren't completely transparent about their intentions.

kamenriderhime

I know, it's so sad!!!! :( Hmm, good point, I guess maybe they did mention it in a manner of speaking. I kinda hope he's not older when they all get back, I'd be sad!!! But yeah, we have a lot coming our way for sure!

kamenriderhime

It truly was!!! They did an awesome job! So much to be grateful for for sure! OMG, I hear you, there's no age limit on the emotion that this episode provoked :D Hahah true, the punderstorm was just what they needed!

kamenriderhime

It is interesting that the cat really seems to want to go to Remnant. But yeah, I'm not sure how much we can trust them either. Whoa, it would be pretty crazy if the cat was the key to defeating Salem though!!!!! I bet the Ever After was never taken into account when that "Salem can't be defeated" statement happened!!

kamenriderhime

I know, it was so sad to think she has those negative feelings towards it! It's like she hates herself :((( Hmm, it would be interesting if she exchanged it. Or maybe even had it forged into something different? Upgraded? To show her own progress?

kamenriderhime

I hear you!!! It's so sad to watch! I know, I feel like we really need to address Ruby's situation head on at some point.

Hi Spadeas! :) Ohhhh no kidding, I didn't even catch that connection to the white rabbit! Nice, glad I guessed it about Lewis! Hmm, that's an interesting theory that it was actually Lewis. Good point about the reflections being troubling moments. Oh interesting about the cat, were they the instigator of the poison??? It might be a hint that they were right behind Jaune at that moment. Aww I know, it would be nice if Jaune could see Lewis again! OMG BMBLB!!!! I love this song and listen to it all the time <3 They definitely did some nice homages to it in the scene too! Love it!!!

Manny

For that one special kiss lol yes I can totally hear that one now too! 😆

Darren

I was just thinking and this is a bit of a stretch, but do you think Ozpin knew Jaune was the Rusted Knight hence why he let him enter Beacon knowing somehow it may lead him to this, i do feel i am reaching to far with that lol

kamenriderhime

Hmmm....actually though, it would make some sense!!!! :O It seems like it would have been kinda hard for one to actually "cheat" their way into Beacon, honestly.....so maybe?!?!?!

kamenriderhime

OMG yes that part, it's perfect hahaa! "OHHHH I can't believe it's happening to meee"....was what I said during the whole scene LOL!!!

John J Ronald

Belated reaction....hurr durrr......Lewis is obviously an allusion to Lewis Carroll, the actual author of Alice in Wonderland/Beyond the Looking Glass....what if Lewis is the one that *actually* made it back to Remnant and NOT Alyx? That would make the OP sequences make more sense, if Alyx was merely "repurposed" by the Tree.....and is still kicking around the Ever After....

John J Ronald

Ironwood wanted to keep Atlas Technology (and its relic[s]) out of Salem's hands at all costs, and was willing to sacrifice millions of people to achieve this aim. I don't think Yang's making a fair comparison when Blake points out how it must count for something they saved as many innocent Atlesians as they could. Salem has magic and was willing to sacrifice Watts so that shows how little she values Atlas "tech" as an end unto itself. "Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed." --Darth Vader

John J Ronald

Still not sure if I trust the Cat now, despite wanting to....as a person who has seen the original Madoka Magica series, reminds me a little too much of Kyubei right now....but I still think the Cat will prove to be important beyond the Ever After as an important means of defeating Salem.

John J Ronald

The craziest theory I've seen on Twitter is that the Cat (not unlike Jinxy's wares) is actually the Beacon Relic (Crown of Choice) in disguise.....or more to the point the Jinn-like spirit within it.....it would at least explain why Salem can't find it at Beacon, if Ozpin somehow managed to hide it AS the cat, inside the Ever After......

John J Ronald

Frankly I also think Glynda is a Maiden incognito which explains why she's always so crazy OP in Volume 1 and beyond.

kamenriderhime

Ohhhh I can totally see the Kyubei vibes! I could see the Cat really being helpful in the fight against Salem though!

kamenriderhime

Whoa!!!! That would be wild if it ended up being true!!!! I mean, that is one heck of a hiding place.

Nathan Poulain Cigrand

So someone said to me that the episodes 6, 7 and 8 were "interesting"....my poor heart has been changed into a yo-yo, from bumblebee's happiness to Jaune's misadventures....And of course, the Cat couldn't be trusted ! Two times this VA betrayed me, he's good xD. Loved your reaction, and gonna wait for the episode 7...Bless our souls xD See you soon :)

2023-05-01 01:21:18 Lol thank you guys as always for helping me not get spoiled! I know, Crescent Rose has such meaning to Ruby. Lol picking the clock fruit may not have been the best choice, who knew? Hahahha I knew you'd love that White Knight tease!!! Yeah, now we're all on the same page, and we're seeing how everyone deals with it. It's scary to see Ruby sound like Ironwood here. And it is a little concerning that no one has really picked up on just how hurt she really is. I know she's not really volunteering a lot of info about it, but she's clearly not okay. But I guess none of us are, so maybe everyone's a little distracted? I mean, that's not a bad point that the tree was the girls' idea. Ponderstorm would be a good name too! Right, I figured those things would be reflecting a person's thoughts or even fears/regrets maybe. Haha there's not enough bug spray in this world!!! I see where you're coming from with your thoughts on the ship, though. I know you're not the only one who feels that it could have been handled better. Honestly I think they probably originally were planning on Sun being Blake's love interest for sure, but maybe the love from the fandom for Blake and Yang caused them to go in a different direction?? I've liked them together ever since the "save me a dance" comment lol but like I said, I get where you're coming from. LOL they totally ripped the band-aid and were like "just do this already"!!! I'm sure now that it's a thing it will be much more integrated. Yay, glad I was able to pick up on the Lewis Carroll thing! Yeah poor Jaune, as if he didn't have enough going on. Right, there's a lot we don't know about how/who made it back from the tree. I thought the cat turning things around was a bit weird too! I can see how maybe they have reason to be a little upset but the two situations are clearly not the same lol. Omg, the way that Ruby looked at Crescent Rose, it's heartbreaking! I think it's safe to say that Ruby is changing for sure, although I hope it's not as bad as what happened to Alyx. Oh man, I can't even imagine what it's gonna be like when everyone hears the Penny story :((( Oh yeah, no worries at all about your ship feelings!!! Everyone's allowed to have an opinion/preference! And it was conveyed very thoughtfully and respectfully so no problem :) LOL no amount of bug spray can take me down now!!!!!!!!!!! >:D Can't wait to see this week's ep, sorry for taking forever to respond!!!!

2023-04-07 09:45:49 This episode is incredible for so many reasons. I enjoyed how you described people telling you to stay off the Internet for this episode and I’m glad the cast and crew was warning everyone to be careful of spoilers as well. I really like that you are able to talk about and know about all the theories. 1 theory about Jaune that didn’t come true but one I still think has thematic connections to him is that the time travel was him being or feeling like he was always too late to save others and not wanting that to be the case anymore & the EA helping him with that by sending him to someone who needed help Alyx. I think Jaune immediately goes after crescent rose because he knows how important it is to Ruby. Of all the mistakes he has or thinks he has made picking this time fruit was the worst one although to me this was just the unluckiest thing ever. It’s ironic that someone who always felt he never had enough time then gets all the time in the world. I can’t praise Miles Luna enough for his performance as older Jaune being able to represent his sadness with a more soft-spoken voice, still retaining some of his more happy/goofy aspects in the voice and showing what he has been through and his newfound experience with the rough/harsh parts of his voice and how he is depicting his anger as well. While he is traveling back in time you can see the order of those who fell down in reverse really quickly in the sky which is such a cool detail. The way his voice almost breaks when saying he thought he might never see them again and if it is really the girls hits hard as well as how he was longingly reaching for the sky when he sees Alyx & Lewis arriving. And it’s shown to us that the blue things falling to the EA in the intro were the siblings and not connected to the relics although I still think this world has some connection to the gods. That hug between him and the girls was heartwarming as all hell. I’m happy that the people who love it got some white knight stuff I actually found it hilarious and almost ship it at least I can see it. Also there are naughty/mature jokes going around because of this especially that Weiss is into older men because of daddy issues LOL. Another being Pyrrha in heaven wanting to kill her for this although let’s be honest she would be happy is he was able to find love again. Her voice actor says it’s his maturity that Weiss found attractive and I’m just like okay sure LOL. And apparently there were those shipping him with Weiss’s mom after last episode so that’s a thing. I think her reaction after she realized what she said is amazing it’s like the SpongeBob “oh no he’s hot” meme. The looks from Blake & Yang were definitely this is great teasing material. I think the girls reactions to knowing how bad their loss was make sense and brings up good points even though it’s sad to see the way Ruby is thinking. At least Yang was comforting her. It's rough to see how hardened Jaune is with saying they have to focus basically while trying to be understanding. It’s impressive that he has created an entire village. As soon as he said what cat I was like oh no the people who were suspicious of them might be right. Seeing Jaune’s rage was scary. The way the music and tone shift here Was so good. With Curious its now shown that they mostly talk in half-truths. It makes sense to think of Ascension as death. The reveal of Lewis being part of the story but not in the book is crazy and I love that the name is based on Lewis Carroll which is important to a theory I will talk about at the end of this comment along with other theories. The reaction to this information is really understandable after how hard they have tried to follow the story so far. I love the use of shadows on people’s faces this volume and in this episode it was used for Jaune to great effect. I like Curious’s pose right before the storm starts standing with their tail. This storm being a physical representation of emotional/mental problems is such a clever/interesting concept. Although I agree with others saying a better name for it would have been a ponder storm because they are literally pondering their feelings & issues. Also both environments in this storm having such strange architecture is real creative. Weiss needs to learn not to test the EA that pit scene was hilarious LOL. A slightly sad detail is that back in volume 1 jaune caught her and now when she might want him to catch her he doesn’t. As soon as he said that Blake & Yang had something big to work out I had a feeling but as soon as Yang said how do we take the next step I knew what was happening. I love how the water mirrors reflect the problems/issues inside the people passing by them. For Weiss it’s the loss of her home and failure to help the people, for Jaune it’s what he did to Penny/failing to save her, all the mistakes in his life most likely including not stopping/being able to save Pyrrha shown by his young self in the mirror. And it’s a blink & you’ll miss it moment in the 1st mirror Ruby passes is the reflection of her mother showing her internal issues are focused around her mom probably about not living up to her ideals/potentially Summer’s death. And we once again have another fairytale where the truth is very different from the story. I love the art style choice for what we are told happened to Jaune. I like the design of the siblings a lot. It’s sad to see Jaune go from happiness & wonder as he learns that he is the hero from his favorite story to how jaded he is now. It’s disturbing to hear what Alyx was really like especially how her face looks. I felt so bad for Jaune thinking everything going wrong was his fault and especially when he says that he couldn’t be a hero in a story since he always wanted to be a hero and not living up to that is a big issue he has always been facing. The music at the end of his story really set the dark tone especially as he was being poisoned. Also someone pointed out that you can see Curious’s eyes like they were watching the entire thing go down. Oh and I want to point out that Curious did not like being at the herbalist’s place but after seems to be just enjoying the chaos. And after going through all of this he spends like 30 years alone. Now it’s time to talk about the best & my favorite part of the episode the confession. I have been waiting 9 years for this since volume 2 episode 6 and some people have been waiting 10 and it was everything I could have asked for and more. I love how even the EA an entire other dimension was tired of Blake and Yang dancing around their feelings LOL. I think this was a great situation and opportunity for them to do this because once they get back to Remnant they wouldn’t have had time for this confession until the end of series. Also as someone pointed out to me I don’t think Yang would have admitted her feelings without a push like this. I love that the way to get past this problem was to talk about their feelings. I enjoyed seeing them slowly figuring this out. Yang has not gotten any better at flirting with her good brain since volume 1 with the whole “I like your bow it goes great with your… Pajamas” scene LOL. Also she is using humor once again to cover up her fear/anxiety/nervousness like Ren pointed out last volume at least I think so. I adore her little movements like the dance while saying nailed it and the wordless way she says your turn to Blake. It’s so heartwarming to hear all the heartfelt compliments/thoughts/feelings they have for each other that reflect their personalities, personal development & how much they have helped each other directly or indirectly. I love how Yang goes from very confident to shocked & emotional once Blake starts talking about her feelings because she doesn’t really expect people to say these things about her. I love that Blake’s dialogue is about Yang’s bravery & honesty with how it connects to what Adam was like and how different Yang is from him not having a mask always being upfront about who she is and what she’s like. I think it’s so 5 waiting the longest but I also think it was Miles speaking through him as one of the writers who have been planning this for a long time. Ruby looks upset looking at the hand holding but I think she’s definitely happy for them however as people I watch have said when you are going through the things she is like depression/trauma it’s hard to be happy about anything & seeing the other girls happy and looking like they have things figured out is definitely not helping. The idea that Alyx basically killed her brother to escape this place is horrifying. However we have to remember that both Curious & Jaune were not there to see whatever happened and are biased sources of information. The moment of Ruby and her weapon is a red flag for where her head is at & gives me a bad feeling. Now I want to talk about Bumblby. The reactions were amazing and really wholesome. For example someone I watch a trans woman named Hunter got really emotional because this show helped her realize she was trans thanks to a lot of things including fan fiction which touched the & is inspiring. Another channel I watch is a lesbian couple who talked about how the show and this ship is how their relationship started because they did a cosplay thing of Blake and Yang & it was sweet to hear them talk about their nervousness when they 1st met and other stuff. This just shows that this moment is important to people for many reasons like these characters being important to people, loving the ship and how much representation like this means to the LGBT+ community. For me it was Yang meaning a lot to me and the ship/show helping me learn a lot about the LGBT+ community and become a better person. Moving on Barbara (Yang) has a show she created called Always Open with different topics & guests and the most recent episode the guest was Arryn (Blake) and was all about bumblebee. And it was confirmed that this relationship was planned from the very beginning. They talk about the ship, the big moment, voice acting these characters, love language for the characters and other cool/interesting stuff. I won’t say anything else and here’s the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyhtrJy0jo0 in case you want watch it on your own time or react to it as bonus content one day. Now I am fine with people not liking the ship/having criticisms as long as they are respectful but many are not/are downright toxic which is sad. To those who are willing to listen I want to say some things about the criticisms. When it comes to the criticism that there was not enough build up and they didn’t have enough scenes together I can understand it but I don’t agree because there were most likely moments we didn’t see and moments alone are not the only thing that can be build up for a relationship. And the moments that were shown in the 1st 3 volumes had such lasting positive and negative effects while they were apart and when they came back together. One reason they both were able to have such great development was because of each other in addition to those around them like Blake wanting to not run away anymore and being able to face her past and learn to forgive and take leadership roles and Yang becoming smarter with how she fights and realizing what matters to her. And they are often thinking about each other and talk to others about how they feel about each other. About the idea that they were building up to a relationship of Sun and Blake you can have feelings for more than one person at once and realize which feelings are stronger and I always saw Sun as wanting to be there for Blake as a friend & not looking for a relationship wanting what’s best for her and this is from someone who ships Sun, Blake and Yang and the ship was confirmed to be planned from the start. One last thing I want to say about this is that while they were apart I like to think about the saying distance makes the heart grow fonder. Now onto theories about what happened to the siblings at the tree. After hearing a lot of discourse I have decided and agree with the idea that Lewis was the one who got back to Remnant and wrote the story because of the original author of Alice in Wonderland and probably wrote the book in honor of his sister. One theory is if Alyx really was that bad she tried to sacrifice her brother but it backfired because it was some sort of test to see who she really was. Another is that Jaune is wrong about her it’s just that with what he thinks happened he looks back on her in a biased way thinking she was worse than she really was and she actually sacrificed herself to help her brother get home because she realized she was being selfish because she wanted to stay here but he did not. And we don’t even know if there is a sacrifice aspect to this maybe she found a way to help her brother and then ascended. Also there is talk about who she became after Ascension potentially Little because of Alice’s last name from Alice in Wonderland being Liddle or Juniper because Alyx wears a rabbit emblem or even the Jabberwalker. I like your discussion at the end it made me realize how much we do not know and your absolute joy because of the moment was so wholesome, heartwarming & enjoyable. Finally higgedly piggedly is a fantastic phrase. Awesome reaction & thoughts and keep up the great work. :-) <3

Sorry I missed this comment! I couldn't agree more!!! Such a good point about there being a lot about their characters/development in their words too. I know, Ruby and Jaune have always been those people for their teams but now it feels like they both have too much going on to do that, it's sad. That's such a good point about the contrast between their two positions right now too, well said. It truly is sad and I can only hope we get on a good path to healing soon! Oh yes, great point about Ruby's treatment of Crescent Rose! It says a lot doesn't it :(

LOL I'm glad you enjoyed the way I described it! That's a good point about the theme of Jaune being late. Seeing the details of him falling was fascinating and I couldn't agree more about Miles' performance! Oh good lord, I'm sure the stuff going around about Weiss is quite intense lol! The White Knight nod was nice though, so was the hug. OMG there was a ship with Weiss' mom, what!!! Haha! Yeah the reflections were really sad and poignant, thanks for pointing that out too! Hearing the whole story was interesting but rough, poor Jaune indeed! Details like the shadow and storm are great for sure. Omg the confession was everything! I couldn't agree more about how well done it was on every level. I love that this is the culmination of a lot of planning on the writers' part. Yeah nothing right now is really helping Ruby's situation, and the way she looked at her weapon was really telling and sad. Awww I love that this Bmblby moment was so meaningful for the LGBT+ community too! It's awesome that they could use this show as a conduit to help more people learn about the community and appreciate it even more, that's awesome! I love that it was planned from the beginning! Honestly, with all the Sun stuff, I wasn't sure if that was their intention. But I've been shipping them since they saved that dance for each other waaayyy back when! I totally get it if it's not someone's ship too, but it is sad when people are blatantly disrespectful! That's a great point about the Sun situation too. I've heard the Lewis theory a lot!!! I wonder what really happened. Ohhh no kidding about the Little theory, wow!!! Awww I'm so glad you enjoyed my reaction!!! It is a great phrase for sure!!! Thanks so much for being so awesome and for your patience while I got back to you!!!! ^_^

2023-04-10 18:04:28 Little bonus the concept art for Yang & Blake’s first kiss is beautiful and breathtaking especially with the stylized way it is drawn. I love the 2 of them as characters and as a ship so much <3 <3 <3.
