Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to RWBY Vol. 9, ep 10!!!!  WOW!!!!  I'm so, SO happy that Ruby finally learned that the one she needed to be all along, was her!!!
And also, WOW we got some reveals about Summer here....so curious to see where they're going with that!  And speaking of reveals, holy cow, who knew we were getting an extended World of Remnant in this one?!!??!!  So the brothers/gods DID come from Ever After.....a few of you out there predicted it!!!  Little is Somewhat, which I'm thrilled about, and will be taking good care of Juniper!!!!  And even Jaune got to go back to his old look!!  Even after all she did to us, I do hope that Neo finds some peace.  And now we go back to our world only to find....?!?!?!!?  What a volume you guys!!!  This was a rough emotional one but I think it was worth it in the end!  Can't wait till next time!  Great ep and great season!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

The ships from every kingdom over Vacuo at the end. They heard her message. 🥹❤️

Dreanner95

I loved how the second half of this episode was all about giving Ruby positive affirmation. First the Blacksmith told her that she could choose herself. Then her family greeted her with open arms, not resentful of the stuff she said while angry. Then she met Somewhat and learned that it was her influence on them that transformed them into someone who will protect others. And on top of all that, they return to Vacuo just to see ships from every Kingdom (including Amity Collusseum) which means her message did make an impact. Without it Remnant wouldn't know the stakes and would never have gathered in Vacuo. All that helps Ruby to see that her decision to stay herself was the right one. Because her imposter syndrome won't suddenly vanish just because she chose herself one time. She needs to continue to make that desicion. And everything that I mentioned will help her with that.

Darren

It was Vaquo with the remaining Atlas Ships etc, they were brought back to when they were needed so maybe a weeks after they fell, it looks like some time did pass because Amity Arena was there and it must have took some time for that to travel there knowing its not a speedy structure. xx

2023-04-25 17:25:17 So my personal theory is that ships from Argus Base scrambled to rescue Amity from crashing either into the sea or on land. After the Fall of Atlas, Argus Base remains the last outpost of Atlesian culture & technology. I just hope Caroline Cordovan could read the writing on the wall and throw her allegiance behind Winter Schnee, who by now is probably the new Commanding General of all remaining Atlesian forces. I doubt they will but it would be a nice touch if we find out Ciel has been the Atlas ambassador to Vacuo this whole time since the end of Volume 3. I always did think it was a little naive of Ruby to believe the world could rush to aid Atlas before it fell. That's a HUGE logistical undertaking. It can be done but it takes time, preparation, coordination, etc. It's as Nora and Ruby concluded...at the time (v.7-8), Atlas was only the *current* target, Salem would be moving on. Sidebar, I enjoyed the Raven cameo, and it also pleased me to see that though there was tension in the air, Summer and Raven were still clearly friends. It was important for Ruby to have that vision. I also think it completely recontextualizes Ruby & Raven's dialogue in RWBY5, Ch.11; I assumed it was simply the grudge of a first wife towards the 2nd wife's kid but I think it's deeper, more complicated than all that. I think it physically pains Raven to look at Ruby because she looks almost exactly like Summer and clearly there's a lot of unspoken and unprocessed trauma on Raven's part having borne witness to whatever happened after she opened that portal and they went through. That internal emotional pain is more behind Raven's lashing out in anger at Ruby...it's misdirected rage (at Ozpin, at what happened to Summer), not mere familial petty jealousy.

Hi Hime :) I'm watching your reaction, just after seeing the movie Justice League VS RWBY, so really served today ^^ Some have made parallels between Summer and Raven and the way Yang is with Raven as well, so Yang may have taken more from Summer than her own mother. We can see that Summer doesn't hold back when she lands a "you're the one to talk" at Raven, which is exactly what Yang does at the end of Volume 5 and even the passing shoulder slap is similar. But we can see that Raven was worried and we can assume that helping Summer through what led to her loss changed her, the weight of guilt made her heart dry... But her discussion with Yang, who must have revived all of her memories, must also have helped Raven heal in a way. I think that's why Raven went to Tai afterwards, to tell him how Yang was and the truth about Summer. Now we need a Raven with the bandits to help the others against Salem. I wondered what the point of Jaune falling with the girls was, but with this episode I got my full answer. I already suspected that it should allow to talk about his guilt about Penny, but it also allows to show something else. Weiss, Yang and Blake are good fighters, they're smart too, but they're so used to being with Ruby, that they have trouble without a leader, you can see it in the way they fight the cat, because even in the chess games with the Prince, they mostly reproduced an old Ruby strategy. Jaune was a leader when needed and he was reminded of that at the end. Jaune, all like Ruby have always been able to observe his surroundings and make plans, that's why Ozpin chose them both as leaders, the move to use the power of smoke on Neo is an idea I think , only Yellow and Ruby could have had. The cat fight was beautiful, Ruby fighting with confidence made me emotional. All while remaining herself, she has matured and progressed, she knows who she is and what she is capable of, which makes her extremely dangerous for her enemies. The next time she faces Cinder or another Salem henchman, I think those may tremble in front of her. Neo seemed to have reached a point of no return and the cat signed her demise, but the fact that she faces an ascent could be the redemption she deserves. I hope one day to see her again on the good side, helping the girls against Cinder. I don't think she will stay at everafter, Somewhat is the new guide that will help instead of the cat and there is not necessarily a need for permanent destruction, the everafter can stay as it is now. For the end, I think they arrived in Vacuo well, but it's been several weeks or months, as you said, there seem to be ships from Atlas, which suggests support military, as Ruby had requested in her message in volume 8. I think Volume 10, when greenlighted, will resume the run of events with the team ending up in Vacuo, no doubt other members joining (Sun and Neptune?), to protect the relic there. This volume has really helped get everyone back on their feet to be ready for what's next, it wasn't the vancaes they wanted, but the one they needed in a way, their resolve and their bond are stronger than ever.

Christopher Pope

Who knew such a bonkers volume would be so consequential for our characters (and possibly the series)? I wonder if this new knowledge about the Brothers may change the heroes' end-game strategy so that it's not just about Salem and the relics but about these "gods" and their right to judge Remnant when they themselves don't understand balance. Or...do they even intend to come back, or did they just leave Ozma with a never-ending task the way they left Curious? And what would that mean for Salem? I'm more sure than ever that, as with the Lost Fable, the writers probably decided from the beginning how Summer's mission went down (including its effect on Raven) and we're getting details piece by piece, leading up to a bigger reveal later. I love the fact that they chose to back the shot of Vacuo with an instrumental rendition of "This will be the day we've waited for..."—incidentally the line Miles sang to open his Cameo.

Nathan Poulain Cigrand

The end of another volume! Not gonna lie, at first I wasn't sure if I wanted a whole volume for the Ever After, but I'm glad with what they did, and now the volume 10 will begin the Vacuo arc ^^I think Volume 9 will be quite high on my ranking, and I'm happy to have witnessed your reactions from the beginnning. Unfortunately, I won't stick around for the cross over with DC, but see you later for Volume 10? Until then, I'll check your other reactions ;)

Okay just signed up! Ready to jump in!

My read on Neo's last scene with the team, interpretation of her body language thus: "I still don't like you. But we cool...I'm OUT! PEACE!" (jump, graceful descent) Also neat how her new tree branch incorporates the leaves to form her parasol.

2023-04-26 07:01:02 Yes, the Cat was tragically broken...a design flaw the Brothers didn't account for...the cat could fix broken hearts but what if its own heart was broken? Good thing it never made it to Remnant, it would've sided with Salem for sure. And since it couldn't itself ascend, in a way the Jabberwalker swarm put it out of its misery once and for all. Tragic, but removed as an irredeemable malevolent force in the Ever After....and while the Brothers could've maybe fixed the Cat, they do seem to be rather like neglectful, absentee landlords....they like building but hate doing upkeep & repairs. They're still jerks.

Sidebar, I'll hang around to watch your JL x RWBY movie reaction, looking forward to it, and maybe the OST react to RWBY9 when it drops.

Twitter definitely having fun making GIFs of the Summer x Raven scene, especially the way Raven looks Summer up and down like she's undressing her with her eyes, LOL. #Rosebird Definitely a contingent of FNDM that thinks STRQ was one big horny polycule, hehe.

John J Ronald

The way that Ruby reaches out for the falling Crescent Rose is a cool parallel to Oscar's reaching for Ozpin's cane when he's falling through the lower levels of Atlas....each reaching out to embrace their destiny.

Cody

I really hope we actually see what happened with Summer sometime, all the breadcrumbs are driving me crazy. The SECOND RLR started playing I was tearing up, Ruby coming back was one of the best scenes in the show! And her brief 1v1 against CC was crazy good, I can’t wait for the soundtrack! This is probably my most anticipated soundtrack! Neo staying behind was satisfying and leaves room for her to come back again and finally go against Cinder. The lore on the Gods was crazy, on top of learning that the Tree is the true god of everything?! And what an ending! Vacuo surrounded by ships of all nations (you can see Vale and Mistral ships in the background), Amity Tower being there which means Pietro and Maria are probably okay!

Chase Lazration

A week ago I jokingly predicted that the cat would die by getting eaten by jabberwalkers a la Scar from The Lion King. I think it's safe to say my prediction came true.

Tyler Stobbe

Im kind of glad this is the finale, because I end up writing a novella every week about the episode… more importantly, I need a rest from all this emotional turmoil… 😂 That being said, I think as far as finale episodes for RWBY go, this might be the best one to date. It’s a debate for sure, but it’s in the conversation. CRWBY has used this term often when referring to Ruby this volume, and it is a real thing, so I’ll leave the definition here. IMPOSTOR SYNDROME: Impostor syndrome, also known as impostor phenomenon or impostorism, is a psychological occurrence in which people doubt their skills, talents, or accomplishments and have a persistent internalized fear of being exposed as a fraud. More on this later. It’s ironic, that the last story Summer would be reading to Ruby and Yang would be this one. Ruby was obviously sleeping when Summer said her last words to her: “I love you just the way you are,” but apparently her consciousness retained that memory to a degree. When Summer and Tai are talking with each other, she tells him it’s an Ozpin mission. Interesting note is that even though they’re a couple, they still have an awkward mannerism around each other: and Ruby was doing something extremely similar with Oscar when they were going their separate ways in Volume 7 to take care of different tasks. Ruby definitely has a lot of traits from her mother’s side. Of course, the elephant in the room is that she’s lying. Summer met up with Raven to do something, and had every intention of returning. Since she’s so honest, her falsifying information would be almost unthinkable to others. But we still don’t know exactly what she was doing, only that it had to do with Salem somehow. There’s another side to this: Raven KNOWS what Summer was doing. She might not have the details, but she knows more than she let on. Im reminded of her offer to Yang in V5: “Stay here, with me (instead of going to Qrow and Ruby), and I’ll answer all your questions and more.” Also she portaled somewhere, and Raven’s Semblance only works on people she has “linked” to. We know she has portals to Tai and Yang, but those aren’t possible in the situation, and it can’t be Qrow, either - HE didn’t know about the mission. The only other option is Vernal but the timeline doesn’t seem like it really adds up for her yet, as this was a decade and a half ago. Meanwhile up at the tree, Jaune is undergoing a crisis of his own as the leaves from the fireball knocked him into a euphoric state like the Herbalist did with Team RWBY and he sees Alyx telling him, maybe it’s time to be who you always wanted to. When he pulls out of the stupor, his ability to strategize takes over and he knocks a tree branch into the middle of the fight, telling the girls to burn it. The leaves don’t affect the cat, but the cat forgot they were wearing Neo, and the resulting memories and emotions force the cat out of her. Ruby is obviously disturbed by the revelation and it just gets her more confused. The blacksmith points out even people she holds in the highest regard have their struggles and burdens to carry. Ruby thought her mom was “perfect,” and this basically shattered that perception so she knocks over the axe in disgust. As a result of this, Ruby starts to grow despondent, asking if there’s no hope, and it’s useless. To which the blacksmith responds is that REALLY what I’m telling you? Sometimes rhetorical questions do a better job than providing a straight answer. Anyway, Ruby’s out of time and needs to choose either someone who will leave her current burdens behind, or someone strong enough to beat them, but she’s still confused and looks at all the different choices… Ruby is definitely suffering from the weight of the aforementioned impostor syndrome, which has caused her to question everything she’s done, especially if the result wasn’t perfect. It’s kind of like, she started a YouTube channel and only read the negative comments about herself up until now… so of course that’s going to wear on a person’s psyche. This is probably my favorite scene in the volume. Ruby is still confused until one weapon calls out to her. Now I’m not sure whether this was a reflection of Summer’s voice, or it was Crescent Rose speaking the words as her mother, but it’s what she needed to hear: “I love you JUST THE WAY YOU ARE.” Ruby wonders what would happen if she chooses herself and the smith simply replies, “then perhaps ‘that girl’ is enough.” Hey look, I know that tune, it’s from the Red Trailer, and the imagery kind of matches it too, but either way Ruby finally “breaks out of her shell” and while the others are pleased to see her, they’re also a little puzzled, except Jaune. “She knew… who she needed to be… all along.” Eddy Rivas, who wrote the episode, says it’s very telling that she has all these different choices, she could have chosen anyone, and in the end, even with all she’d been through, she still chooses herself. Of course, Ruby comes out with a recovered emblem on her belt and a renewed confidence, and just starts going to town on Curious with the help of the others. Weiss’ Semblance might be broken the way everyone was using it to strafe the cat by the end of the attack. The team is functioning as one unit again because everyone has worked out their own personal issues. At the end of the attack Curious is returned to their original form, and wails that humans are selfish, broken and incomplete - but Ruby’s teammates finally say what she needed to hear from them, she’s none of those things, and that’s why they follow her. She doesn’t have to be perfect for them, her teammates already love her just the way she is. When the group tell the cat they’re going to Remnant and leaving them here, this angers the cat enough to try one more attack but it gets interrupted by a horde of Jabberwalkers conjured by Neo. And this is where I’d like to say… I called this last week. 🫡 The group is all extremely happy to have Ruby back and in her usual emotional state, but this makes Neo realize she was living a lie… all this time out for revenge and even when she got it, it didn’t bring any closure. She sees the bond the others have, something she never really got to experience, and realizes that the only way to fix it is to fix herself, so she hops into the tree and ascends. I don’t know if we’ll see her again, but I’m not going to rule it out in some capacity. Ruby’s still troubled that she hasn’t seen Little, and Blake is concerned they did to the Ever After what Alyx did and left it wires off… until a familiar face hops up… Little gas already ascended and has a more humanoid form - which makes Ruby overjoyed, but the mouse doesn’t recognize her. Which makes sense when she thinks about it. Im going to draw your attention to something, Little ascends fairly quickly and if you look at their getup, they’re walking on two legs… and they’re wearing a cape. They knew who they wanted to be. Can you think of anyone who might have had an influence on their choices here? 👀 When the mouse asks what they think they are, they give several answers, including a Yang pun… and they realize they’re not just any one thing… somewhat of a lot of things instead. This is a reverse play on when Little asked Ruby what are you and she said “I’m a human, a girl, a Huntress… I’m Ruby Rose.” Little responded with “That’s a lot of things.” - That conversation just went full circle. Nobody’s just one thing but the mouse adopts the name Somewhat. Ruby asks if Somewhat remembers her - and they say she seems familiar - like a happy dream I can’t quite remember. The cat said about ascension earlier, “though the person might be different than they originally were, the heart rarely forgets.” Jaune then asks Somewhat to take care of Juniper, and as the two ride off, the others step through the doorway. And I would like to point out at this time that you missed the most obvious spin off request we need to toss: Somewhat and Juniper’s Ever After adventures. Come on, those sell themselves, I don’t need to explain it further! 😂 Everyone ends up in the blacksmith’s shop, and they’re carving different characters, although not sure what the purpose is for. Some are still alive, like Juniper, and some are gone, like Hawker and the cat. The blacksmith is glad Jaune finally made it to them… by the way am I the only one getting a vibe from the blacksmith similar to the Armorer from Mandalorian? But Jaune wants to know if it’s true that Lewis went back, and the smith confirms it. Obviously this points out the smith cannot be Alyx. Ruby and Weiss notice two figures on the table - the god brothers… and it turns out that they were the first blossoms of the tree. The Ever After was here first. Before Remnant, even. Their purpose was to clean up the land and make it suitable for life by using methods of destruction and creation - stop me if you heard this one before… and even the tree didn’t see what they’d turn into. But that’s part of creation… Anyway apparently they got ambitious, and created their own life in secret: the cat, whose purpose was to heal the broken hearts of other Afterins - and then they created the Jabberwalker to balance the cycle, but it was so effective the God of Light thought they’d disrupted balance, but the God of Darkness refused to blame his creation… and would not destroy it. So, let’s get this straight… the two brothers refused to take out a creation that didn’t work, leaving it to run rampant in the Ever After - yet they had no problem wiping out the entire world of Remnant because one person wouldn’t fall in line with what they wanted? Hypocrisy doesn’t even begin to cover this comparison. The gods are not only responsible for Salem running wild in Remnsnt, Ozma’s continuous rebirth cycle, they also made the Curious Cat and the Jabberwalker to basically do their job for them while they went out to play “god” in other worlds. I’ll get back to my last tangent there in a second, but the smith points out the creations of the brothers have had quite an impact whenever they’ve come to the Ever After: even Ruby’s one act of kindness towards a strange mouse had a ripple effect and the Ever After gained a new protector, kind of the function Jaune was serving… while Alex’s one act of dishonesty broke the cat’s heart and caused it to turn into what it was. The brothers gave the cat the ability to heal the broken hearts of others but not its own… and so, when it needed to ascend and become what it needed to be, there wasn’t anything to help them do it. The gods left it with no fail safe. I’m not condoning the cat’s actions… but they’re as much a victim of the brother’s oversight as they are a villain. The brothers talk about balance a lot, but in truth, they’ve left everything in a state of turmoil whenever they leave - it’s no wonder that the tree eventually wanted them to get out of the Ever After with all their experimenting… basically mom told them all “you need to go play outside for a while.” The brothers are a menace and they need to be stopped. They’re responsible for EVERYTHING that is being put on every world and every less than ideal situation. One could argue, Team RWBY has more balance between the four of them then the “gods” ever did. They’re not even gods! They’re just rebellious creations that were selfish. The brothers ARE THE TRUE VILLAINS of this show, even more so than Salem, because they literally caused that situation. And then they just “peace out,” because the fallout of their failure isn’t their problem. Honestly, one can’t help but wonder if things would have worked out different if Salem was able to meet the blacksmith like Ruby did, instead of the spoiled kids who clearly had the wrong approach. Anyway, the smith has Alyx’s knife, but this is the first time Jaune’s seen it, but when he takes it Alyx “fixes” him, sort of… he gets to revert ri his younger self. I will point out he still has a white streak in his hair, and retained his memories… and he realizes what his voice sounded like and he’s somewhat mortified. Im going to notice this: Weiss has a scar on her face, now Jaune has a white streak in his hair, both physical imperfections - Weiss earlier asked if she used to be as arrogant as some people, and now Jaune’s realizing what he used to sound like… they’re both going through some similar phases. Anyway, the smith opens a door to WHEN they’re needed most. And they all walk through it, but it’s bittersweet, as Ruby says the last words in the volume to the blacksmith: “Thank you.” - that might also be interpreted as a message from CRWBY to the fans, as the future is unknown at this point. There’s a lot of uncertainty around what happens next with RWBY as Volume 10 has yet to be greenlit and production hasn’t started: the writers have begun an outline for the story, but no formal announcements have been made. All I can say is, they better get the go-ahead or there will be a riot act. I expect it to happen: it just hasn’t happened yet. Anyway the final shot is them stepping into Vacuo - with ships from all the other kingdoms there, including Amity Colosseum, so some time has passed since they fell. Atlas is underwater and this is definitely the Vacuo skyline. So considering what we know, it has to have been some months because Amity was crashing a fortnight before the fated fall. They wouldn’t fix that up in a day or two. But it also means Ruby’s message got out and all of the kingdoms are in one place. Oh, and the instrumental tune is, “this will be the day we’ve waited for, this will be the day we OPEN UP THE DOOR…” Coincidence? I think not. Now I’m wondering what Ren, Nora, Oscar, Qrow and Winter are going to think when five people probably presumed dead show up on their doorstep. Not gonna lie, I kind of want them to pull a Jojo WHEN, not IF, we get Volume 10 started and they crash their own funeral. But, Overall, one question has been running roughshod over this volume. “What are you?” She’s Ruby. Nothing more. Nothing less. And what she already is, is what everyone needed her to be. It’s more than enough. Speaking of enough, I think that’s plenty. But I am curious now (pun intended) how you feel about the volume overall and how you think it compares to the others, now that you’ve had a little time to think about it?

Manny

Oh wow that was fantastic 🥲 I love seeing Juane again. And I’m just so excited for the next volume! 😄

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

There are 2 things I can't help wondering about. First, who did Raven Portal to with Summer. The only person that we know of whom she has a bond with that wasn't where she started is Qrow. If that's the case, he needs to explain some shit. The other question is about the other 20 or so people we saw fall to The Ever After before Yang. Did Crwby just foget about that scene?

kamenriderhime

It was great!!! I feel like our group is re-centered now! I hope we see Neo again too. I was happy with where we ended up with Ruby too!! OMG I didn't notice the highlights in Jaune's hair actually!! :O Nice touch! I think you're right, we dealt with some STUFF here!! Ahhhhhh I'm so excited for the soundtrack!!!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!

kamenriderhime

Gotcha!!!! It looked like Vacuo but got confused over the ships. That makes total sense! Her message got through!!!!!!!!!! So inspiring! Thank you!

kamenriderhime

So well said! The ending basically solidifies that her actions did have an impact. I'm so glad she decided to stay Ruby!!!!!!! Such a great point too, that that's a decision to make each day! And this really proves the point that being her is the best choice.

kamenriderhime

Yay! Me too - I think this could have easily been a "filler" if they hadn't handled it so well. Cannot wait for Vol 10! I'm so happy you enjoyed my reactions!!! No worries about the crossover! I'll look forward to seeing you for Vol. 10 and for my other reactions, yay! Thank you!!

kamenriderhime

I know!!! That's the thing, I feel like we have an even broader knowledge now. Sure, Salem's the threat in front of us, but maybe we could do something even more bigger-picture. That's a good point, this may have been another version of a never-ending task. I can't wait for the reveal about Summer! It does make some sense about Raven's state of mind as well. Ahhhhh that's so fitting that Miles would open his cameo that way!!! Maybe he was hinting? ;)

kamenriderhime

That's a good point, it would have to be someone she was bonded too. Hmmmm....! Oh I had forgotten about that as well, to be fair!!! :/ Yikes, maybe something to deal with in Vol. 10?

kamenriderhime

Me too!!! I'm sure they're leading up to a big reveal! I know, Ruby's return was epic! The fight scene was amazing. I'm dying for the soundtrack!!! I agree about Neo. And about the lore, holy cow!! So technically yeah, the tree is like the Grandgod :P I'm so glad Pietro and Maria are most likely okay!!! I'm mad I wasn't clear on the ending at first but that's a big deal!!!! Can't wait for the next and last vol.!!!

kamenriderhime

That's the thing, I kinda feel bad because the Cat was doomed from the start thanks to the brothers. Yeah it is a good thing they never made it to Remnant. I mean, the jabberwalker did sort of give it the closest thing to peace, as grim as that is. That's the thing, the brothers just kinda peaced out. The landlord analogy is pretty spot on lol. Yeah I'm not loving the brothers!

kamenriderhime

Hahahha omg!!!! I didn't even pick up on that but wow!!! I can't even imagine the stuff swirling around online about STRQ, omg haha.

Cody

Assuming volume 10 gets greenlit, I think we have at most 3 volumes left, we usually spend 2 volumes in each kingdom, and then we’ll head back to Beacon for the final battle and the Relic of Choice. But has been very interesting seeing people react to how this could still be a satisfying ending to the show if v10 isn’t greenlit, cause it reinforces that all of Ruby’s efforts and hope wasn’t for nothing, that her message did unite the world against Salem.

kamenriderhime

Oohhh I hope so!! I thought they were ending it at 10! But yeah, at the very least this one leaves us with some closure. I really, really want Vol. 10 to get greenlit though!

kamenriderhime

Oh, that's a good theory! I never thought about who might be leading who but that makes sense. It would be nice if they threw in a reference to what Ciel is up to! I totally get wanting to save Atlas before it fell, but at the very least, we've done what we could. I'm so excited for the vision of Raven and Summer and what it means!! I agree, there's clearly more to it than that. It really does help put some of the past stuff with Raven in better context. It works as pettiness in that moment, but now we know there's an even deeper meaning to it like you said.

kamenriderhime

Hi Spadeas! :) Oh wow, I haven't see JL / RWBY yet, hope you enjoyed it!! That's such a good point about Yang taking traits from Summer. Summer getting sassy was interesting lol. Oh wow, that would make sense that Raven felt guilt, then felt better after talking to Yang, and went to see Tai to tell him the truth. I would love it if she ended up helping against Salem! That's so true that our crew is a little lost without Ruby to lead them! Yes, Jaune was awesome! I agree about his leadership. The fight between Ruby and the Cat was amazing! I love that she's found herself so much! I definitely think Cinder / any other enemy will have even more to worry about next time they face her! So true, the Ever After no longer needs that destructive force. Ahh yes, that would be why the ships are there! Thanks for helping to clear it up! That's so inspiring that her message got through! I can't wait for Vol. 10, I hope it gets greenlit! So true, this may not have been what anyone wanted to fall into another world, but they definitely needed it and are stronger for it! This volume was like a reset after 8 volumes of nonstop fighting. Can't wait for more!!

Sidebar, also looking forward to your Legend of Vox Machina Season 2 react this summer.

I've read some speculation that maybe it's the original Spring Maiden (that Raven later assassinated)....others said Vernal but then also noted the timeline doesn't really work for that bond. Or it's to some as yet unnamed person that would get them closer to Salem in any case.

2023-04-28 13:01:25 The JL x RWBY Huntsmen & Heroes Movie Part 1 also opens up new shipping possibilities. Heck, I've already thought of 2 names for Weiss x Batman.

I think the timeline wouldn't support the previous maiden, and it definitely wouldn't be Vernal. I'm sure it's someone we don't know or don't know Raven has a bond with.

kamenriderhime

Ohhhh hmm, those are interesting theories. The timeline is an issue, but it's fun to speculate! Probably someone new, which is even more intriguing!

kamenriderhime

Yay! Thank you! I finish Bad Batch season 2 in about a month and a half, then I'll get started on Vox Machina :D

kamenriderhime

Hey Tyler, just wanted to let you know I'm reading through this, I haven't forgotten about it!!! I'll be in touch soon :D

2023-05-02 06:23:09 This was an excellent one for sure, I honestly need to let it sit for a bit and rewatch it to really properly rank it, but it's up there! Imposter syndrome is very real, I can see how it relates to this volume a lot. It is ironic that Summer would be reading them this story isn't it. I see what you mean about Ruby having some of those traits from her mom! Right, Summer lying is a big piece of info here that we didn't have before, as is the fact that she went to Raven. Raven definitely seemed to know what she was up to, although who they were portaling to is anyone's guess. Jaune had some resolution here too mid-fight, being able to see Alyx briefly, which was cool. Poor Ruby, this really does shatter her image of her mom, and good comparison on the negative comments lol. But the rhetorical questions do get her thinking, I think. Sometimes you don't need advice, etc. - you really need a sounding board for your own thoughts. I absolutely love the sequence of Ruby choosing herself, coming back, and fighting!!!!! You totally called it with the jabberwalkers!!! And I think you're right about Neo - none of that pursuit of revenge did anything for her in the end. Not like the closeness of Ruby's friends did for her. I hope she finds some peace, and who knows, maybe we'll see here again?? OMG I could totally see how Little was influenced by a certain someone in their ascension! Oh, good point about their conversation being parallel to the one Little and Ruby had when they met. AWWWW we totally need that spinoff series, omg!!!! That's an interesting point that Juniper, who's still alive, is in the blacksmith's "shop" - I've heard people say that anyone seen there must be dead, but that would mean that's not the case. I totally get some Armorer vibes!! It's cool to know the origins of the brothers and the Ever After, but what they did with leaving the Cat behind is beyond irresponsible. I hear you that it doesn't justify the Cat's actions, but it certainly does explain why in a way, their actions were beyond their control. The brothers pretty much effed up EVERYTHING everywhere they went lol, it's an interesting thought to think that maybe even Salem could have had a different path if she'd found the concept of ascension. Good call about Jaune's white streak, a little souvenir from the Ever After I guess. Also good call on the similarities between his and Weiss' journeys. I really really REALLY hope that Volume 10 gets greenlit! Thanks for clearing it up that they're in Vacuo, makes sense. WHOA the open up the door line never even occurred to me but WOW!! Hahahaha I'd love it if they crashed their own funerals, Joseph style :P I love that we got the answer to "what are you", and it was everything I'd hoped for: enough <3 Well, I honestly think I need to let this one sink and watch it again in order to properly rank it!!! There were so many nuances and details that I didn't even full comprehend on a first viewing. But I can tell you it's up there! And that it really, really stands out from the rest - for obvious reasons like being in a totally different realm, but also in its style of storytelling, tonality, etc. I hope you enjoyed watching it along with me!!! Thanks for your patience for my response, I've been getting so behind on the RWBY comments!!!!
