Hey everyone!  I'm back with Jujutsu Kaisen season 2, episode 16!  WHOA!!!!  You guys, there was SO much going on here!  The stuff with Toji was insane!!!!  I can't believe he did what he did.....like I know he's not father of the year or anything, but that scene says a LOT, don't you think??  And The stuff with Jogo, well, it went about how I thought - but yeah, the gap between him and Sukuna was just SO VAST it wasn't even funny!  Meanwhile other members of our school crew are just trying to survive, and Geto's followers are out here trying to avenge him.  Now there's more going on with Sukuna?!  What's next, honestly!!!  Great ep!  Can't wait for more!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

I'm not the first to point out that Jogo got two different responses from the strongest in the show Gojo called him weak and didn't consider him an opponent Sukuna acknowledged that he was strong and told him to be proud of himself I don't care much for Jogo but I think is kind of Sukuna to reassure him as he "gently" ferried him away to the afterlife, being praised and recognized instead of being cursed to death

“This situation is not good.” This is probably the dramatic equivalent of calling this series of events the Shibuya “incident.” Fushiguro was basically fighting a puppeted Toji until something triggered a memory - after realizing that he was fighting his son and confirming he was making his own choices, he was pretty much like, “yeah, no need to stick around.” It could also be said that he was killing himself to stop himself. The reason Fushiguro went all out is because that the principal brought Ieiri with him, without waiting for Nanami to call for her - she’s the school doctor - it’s even revealed that Ijichi and Ino are only still alive because she was already on site and her cursed technique recovered them. This also makes her location a priority target. Panda’s accomplice just didn’t want to get involved under any circumstances - but Geto’s cronies had other ideas… And then, we’ll, there’s Sukuna… who’s just out here living his best life for the time being and soaking up all the chaos. It was described as elephants vs ants but it’s worse than that - also he used Jogo’s meteor and it apparently blew up not only Geto’s cronies, but Panda and the other character as well. I don’t remember who Uraume is, but Sukuna seemed very happy to see her. That can’t be a good thing… also if Ponytail Curse is so freaked out he’s trying to get Fushiguro to wake up. Well, I have no idea what it is, but it didn’t look human. It’s obviously incredibly dark and twisted, but does this method of storytelling remind you of the Ant Arc from Hunter. Hunter the way we keep bouncing around without too much time elapsing? (I just finished that arc, btw.) Get out the large board, we’re gonna need a lot more conspiracy red thread theories to keep up with everything going on here. 😅 (Btw, MAPPA just called, they said you should probably take a break from their stuff for a little while after the last two days! XD)

Jogo could definitely do it. The end of the last ep you could see it in his face. He knows what’s up but he had to try. More than anyone else, he knew Sukuna was no ally and was to be taken seriously. I hope people realize that because him vs Gojo and now Sukuna, probably has him underestimated by a few but he was powerful. We saw that with that meteor attack here. I gotta give it to him, he took blows and lasted long. I was never rooting for him all this time but the last scene had me feeling something. I have to appreciate his gumption and will. He sought out his vision and was willing to make it happen, even if he wasn’t going to be the last one standing. It’s weird to root for the evil guys but they were very ambitious in there efforts. You can’t deny that. It was evil to us, but it was something to them. Okay Geto’s group— I’m not sure we’re supposed to know them yet. At least not enough. Besides the two girls, I vaguely remember the name Miguel but that’s it. Everyone else I don’t think we’ve introduced or met officially yet. The person at the end with Sukuna. We’ve seen once in a very short, abrupt scene. (I’m forgetting the scene so forgive me)— I think Ijichi interrogated the guy who wanted to turn Gojo into a coatrack last season. After the sportsfest interference was dealt with, the teachers were trying to understand what happened and I think it was coat guy who told Ijichi about someone with a bob cut among the curses. We see them very shortly in that scene. But we never properly met them. Again I’m fuzzy on the episode but I’m pretty sure it was a one and done shot of this person. Okay Fushiguro vs Toji was a nightmare. That felt like a nightmare. Imagine being Fushiguro during that fight. From my understanding of the subtitles, it was like he was running on autopilot, doing what he usually does. Definitely not father of the year but he may care after all deep beneath that tough exterior. I don’t know what to make of that but that was interesting. His eyes changed back after stabbing himself. I wonder what that means. And absolutely no clue on who or what that thing was about to get ponytail but can’t wait for another pummeling of that dude. 👊 Man two fights that were so one sided. Let’s give it up to the underdogs. Curse enemy or friend they held their own. There’s a lot of strong dudes everywhere. I don’t blame the dude with Panda for trying to avoid any overpowered strong danger. Like he said they’re just disappearing and reappearing throughout the place. I call it a victory if you’re able to survive somehow 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏

Hi Hime :) It's funny to remember that Toji has the same voice as Dio, because the scene where he uses the debris to destroy the rabbits, he moves so quickly that he gives the impression of having stopped time for the others, Toji The World lol. But yes, Toji may seem not to care about Megumi, in the end, he is still very happy that he did not join the Zenin. Also, hats off to Megumi for managing to survive this long against Toji. As a reminder, Toji "killed" Gojo and played with Geto when they were Megumi's age. So this proves that Megumi is at least as strong as the Geto of this age. I won't come back to Jogo vs Sukuna, the episode speaks for itself. Instead, I just want to talk about something that's been on my mind recently. Gege Akutami, the author of Jujutsu said he was a fan of HxH, Togashi the author of HxH said he was a fan of Jojo. You, who like me have seen all three, will perhaps come to the same conclusion, but for me, this connection explains this arc. If you remember the end of Stardust Crusader (and I'm sure you do), from the moment the group approaches Dio's mansion, the series goes to another level with deaths, sacrifices and a tension that builds to a crescendo without ever really coming down. I guess it marked Togashi enough for the Yorkshin city or Chimera Ants arc to be what they are. It's also filled with tension to the point that you fear for our heroes with every step they take. For me this arc is Gege's response to that, his desire to do an arc that is in the same state of mind as the end of Stardust Crusader or the Chimera Ants arc. But we're not yet at the end of this arc and just to say, knowing what's coming, even I'm not ready yet. I would say that the next 3, maybe 4 episodes, are going to be the hardest for me.

Hahah yeah it's an understatement right?! Right, it seemed like he wasn't really Toji until that moment. That's what I figured too, he was stopping himself by killing himself. Ohhhhh ok thanks for clearing that up about the doctor being there! I know, can you blame Panda's partner for not wanting to get involved lol. Sukuna really is just having a good old time! There's no way Panda really got blown up though!!! I don't buy it! Ok cool so I'm not the only one who didn't recognize that person at the end. Omg I can totally see similarities to the Ant Arc! Whoa, how did you like it!!! Oh jeez, time to get out the red string! Hahahha Mappa's kicking my butt these days, what the heck!!!

kamenriderhime

Yeah you really have to hand it to Jogo here! I hear you on not rooting for him exactly but at the same time, really appreciating all that went into his efforts, and the fact that to him there really was something behind his motivation, you know? Ok cool so I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't know Geto's whole group then! Ohhhh ok, I didn't remember that person at all! Good call, wow I'd forgotten all about that but you're right!!!! Thanks so much! Ooohhh I know, that whole fight between Toji and Fushiguro was like a horror movie!!! I can't even imagine being him! Yeah he definitely cared despite not being a "good" dad or person by any means, but wow! OMG I hear you, as long as ponytail guy is getting his butt kicked I'm good lol! Seriously, both fights the people were way outmatched but still gave it their all! I don't blame that guy with Panda a bit now lol. Seriously, as long as you make it out right!!!

kamenriderhime

Hi Spadeas! :) OMG he was totally using The World wasn't he haha! That's how fast he was moving! I know, he does care deep down. Omg you're so right, this really goes to show how strong Megumi is! Wooooowww that is actually so awesome about the way that Jojo and SDC influenced HxH's author, wow!!! I love that so much! I can definitely see so much inspiration there. In fact I talk about that a bit in tomorrow's Jojo reactions. OMG I'm scared for what's next, from the sounds of it it's going to be way too intense!!!!!! >.<

I don’t think I can properly describe how much I love this episode but I am going to try. 1st things 1st though the animation was incredible the animators deserve all the praise in the world. We can only hope everyone who worked on this episode are getting a good wage,, time off & proper credit for the amazing jobs they have done. Something important someone I watch said is that we can still appreciate the episodes while condemning Mappa for its actions as a company but should try our best to thank & compliment the workers not the company and credit specific workers if we know any names which I unfortunately don’t. I like that starts off with a little in media res of Jogo confirming what we all knew that he stood no chance against Sukuna but is shocked the power difference is so great. Sukuna’s face that we see for a second at the start of the episode is so disturbing but very well drawn which is true about all of the animation/artwork in this episode. I love the direction of the entire episode but Megumi seeing Toji and turning around looking for an escape route & Toji Is already on the other side of the street is amazing. I love that Megumi is trying to imagine a way to win even against such a strong opponent. At 1st I thought he might have been running because he couldn’t win but I love that it was actually to give himself the opportunity to win. Toji sensing where Megumi is by instinct inside the swarm of rabbits is crazy. I love the choreography in the entire episode but I think my favorite choreography is in the 1st part of Megumi vs Toji. I just love seeing the extremely fast martial arts from both of them and I think we should commend Megumi for even being able to partially keep up with his dad without dying. I have to tell you I was not expecting 1 of the bunnies to start using martial arts LOL. Also Toji catching & throwing that same rabbit with his teeth is insane. The move Toji pulls creating all that rubble to destroy so many rabbits so quickly it looks like he has 8 arms is ridiculous, awesome & terrifying especially the strategy behind it putting the bunnies in a position where they could not move to make them easier to hit. It’s up there as 1 of the craziest attacks I have seen in a show. It still boggles the mind that he can create a miniature earthquake with a stomp of his feet. I actually think Kusakabe being this pragmatic, scared sorcerer when compared to many other characters we have seen in the story so far really interesting. They had a very minor role overall so it’s not surprising you didn’t recognize them but Geto's followers who were not the girls were in JJK 0 I almost didn’t recognize them. I am super impressed by whichever animators worked on the character & object movements during Toji chasing Megumi. I like that Shoko’s skills are emphasized here as potentially the only sorcerer who can heal others with her cursed energy it shows the importance of that kind of role. Also her thinking of the past makes me sad because she lost Geto as well. I love Megumi thinking about the timing of Toji’s attacks because it’s similar to Yuji in episode 13 looks like good friends think alike. So much strategy went into trying to attack his dad once it was really awesome to see Megumi’s intelligence at work as well as his resolve to let himself get hurt to make it possible. But of course Toji is too fast to be like caught off guard like that. I love the subtle look of recognition when he sees the clans main technique. I love the minimalistic nature of everything about what happens here with the insistence that he doesn’t care (I think the apathy is a defense mechanism so he won’t get hurt again which probably happened a lot in that family) telling us he does care. I can’t believe what Toji did here but it makes sense and works really well thematically with his character and how it connects to his trauma from his family with the hypocrisy of parts of himself that caused him to go against his nature which led to his 1st death. I love how happy he is that his son is not tied to his cursed clan much like he did. He got himself away from his family in a dark way & Megumi gets to do that in a hopefully better way. I think there was also pride in the look he gave his son pride that his son is free from the family & at his son’s strength/skills. You can see that he loved his son in that look it’s unfortunate that he only realized/was able to show this love before he dies both times in fact. And yeah he most likely killed himself here because having gotten control of himself/awareness again he realized it’s only a matter of time before the séance technique takes that awareness away again. To protect his son from that inevitable rampage as well as being another example of taking control of his life Toji decided to choose this. I love that his eyes turn back to normal at the very end. This was a very emotionally well-written moment & I think a fitting end for an antagonist like him who did love his son & very likely his wife as well. I felt that there was something missing with his character for me when he was originally introduced/with his story & involvement in the flashback of the 1st 5 episodes but with this episode his character fully clicked for me. I don’t know exactly why but I think Megumi not knowing/possibly never knowing this was his father makes this moment better maybe because it was all Toji without outside influence. Also blonde ponytail is a cockroach like damn. I like that we get to see nuance with Geto's followers with the different things they want to do as his family like how they will continue his will as well as some showing their grief more openly. Some being neutral is interested & I like the big guy making sure they don’t forget that they are a family. You recognized the name Miguel and that’s because he was the guy who fought against Gojo in JJK 0. The lights going out and then just hearing Sukuna’s maniacal laughter is absolutely terrifying. There is so much to love about the Jogo vs Sukuna fight I couldn’t some possibly go over/into everything. One thing is that this fight being so extremely detailed is really impressive and awesome. Also seeing this level of speed & power in action was mind blowing. The coolest and best detail is the sign measuring temperature going crazy because of Jogo’s attacks whether it was originally in the manga or was added for the anime it’s brilliant. I can really appreciate Jogo’s resolve & determination to fight someone clearly stronger than him because of the opportunity to get Sukuna to help him and his friends accomplish their goals and desires to have the same place as humanity. At one point because of the light of the moon & shadows Sukuna’s face looks like a skull. Also the way he says keep trying to Jogo is the same thing he said to the cursed spirit in the prison.during the start of season one when Sukuna had control for a little while. The elephants & ants comment from Kusakabe is a great way to describe the world of JJK & him clarifying that they are the ants amuses me. I’m not sure I was expecting besides Jogo putting up a good fight what I didn’t expect was for him to go off so much and start melting city blocks. Also him surfing on the lava was a fun and cool touch. I like that he went in with some martial arts/close the combat against Sukuna even if it didn’t go well. The craziest thing in this fight was how no matter what Jogo threw at him Sukuna was unaffected. Jogo was literally unable to put a scratch on him which is insane especially when we see his ultimate technique creating a meteor out of surrounding materials it looked like. Like you were talking about I think it says all anyone needs to know about the strength difference that Sukuna has no problem playing a game with the humans during this crazy and dangerous (to anyone else that is) battle. Sukuna using fire like Jogo has got me thinking about his powers/abilities more it’s fun to try and speculate. Side note I don’t know who the voice actor is but this is the perfect voice for a villain like Sukuna. You know things are serious and the animators were serious when the aspect ratio changes when we see both of them getting their attacks ready for this contest of power Sukuna proposes. Also that fire arrow looks sick & I mean that positively. I honesty love what felt like a heartfelt sendoff for Jogo as a character & seeing him talk to his friends like this really makes you think about stuff because of how it emphasizes that intelligence curses are not all evil and how the world of this story is not black and white they care about their friends & have desires. People made jokes about Sukuna walking into the final thoughts as you are dying moment because that really doesn’t happen or at least not often. I like this gave us a little insight into Sukuna with the whole dialogue about destroying everything and being a little kind to Jogo even if I think it’s impossible to really understand him at this point until the author decides to go really deep into his character which I do feel is coming. I personally think & this is just a theory that Jogo was crying because from what we have seen throughout the story it has felt like all he wanted was acknowledgment to some degree which he got from Sukuna because if he says you’re powerful you know it’s true. And really interesting how the episode ends with the introduction of someone Sukuna knows and is friendly with and I have questions which I know won’t be answered right away. The big one being how has this person been around since Sukuna was alive 1000 years ago especially if they are human which they seem to but you really can’t tell in this show. It’s got me very curious at least. It was really cool that they had the ending song start playing before the ending itself started giving everyone the chance to hear more of the song during the episode. I like the wording of Mahito being a reflection of the evil of humanity and the imagery of him here was creepy. I don’t have theories really because of just how crazy things are getting. The one thing I was thinking about is maybe Sukuna can copy or absorb other people’s/curse’s techniques which is how he did the fire this episode. I think we are all feeling like you about how it’s unbelievable how much crazy stuff is going down & so quickly. The waiting for a pizza analogy you made when talking about Sukuna was amazing LMAO I love it. Finally I think Panda and all those humans escaped the giant attack because they were moving really fast when the word now was said or maybe I am just hoping. Awesome reaction & thoughts. Keep up the great work. :-) <3
