Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to season 1, episode 10 of Chainsaw Man!  We're really in the aftermath of everything here, and it looks like there's some personnel changes going on with the devil hunters.  That means Aki's getting an upgrade I guess!  Speaking of Aki, poor Aki :(((  The letter was so heartbreaking!  I just want him to be ok.  Meanwhile Denji and Power are getting some training and DANG, if this doesn't toughen them up, nothing will!  At least they're getting clever and using ideas from manga to try and get ahead lol, not that it seems to be working!  I think we've got a lot ahead of us!  Great ep!  Can't wait for more!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Hi Hime :) Makima's power, even knowing it as I am up to date, remains difficult to understand. But as for the scene, she forces the convicts to say the goons' names, using their lives to kill the goons from a distance. You see the body of the condemned collapse, which confirms that they are dead and you add the fact that they were given a packet of food in the truck, being their last meal. All I can say about her power is that when you learn it, everything will be clearer and make sense. I would also like to come back to another fact about Makima, or rather, the way Mappa handles Makima. In Jujutsu, it's easy to realize how Mappa makes Gojo, Nanami or even Mei-Mei sexy, in Chainsaw-Man, it's the same thing with Makima. There are several shots of... her butt during the series and we have several seconds of Makima changing in the episode which even if they don't show anything, remains sensual in a sense. And I want to say that even if the manga shows her a bit like that, Mappa greatly accentuated her sex appeal, they know very well what they are doing. But it definitely helps to make her seductive and frightening at the same time. We see very well why the antagonists are afraid of her given her power, but with her subtle lies or when she says "she doesn't have to reveal secrets to a civilian", we feel that she knows more that she doesn't say and that she is the type to make sacrifices if it is for a greater cause. Since we have the symbolism of the apple as a forbidden fruit, Makima would willingly be the tempting serpent whispering in Eve's ear. Kobeni now, she's a ball of nerves and anxiety forced into a world she didn't want, but who has the capacity to survive it physically, mentally, that's another story. We don't know if it's just her basic physical abilities or if she's helped by her contract (she said it was a secret after all), but yeah, when she's in serious mode, It's better not to have her as an opponent. The ending of episode 9 is by Aimer, which actually has a lot of themes from Fate, but also from Demon Slayer, Fire Force, Vinland Saga or even Ranking of a King. So yes, she is a fairly well-known artist. Denji and Powy's sensei is called Kishibe, but his name is not said in the episode, it may be in a previous episode when we see him with Aki and Himeno. As for his voice, it's Kenjiro Tsuda, who you know at least for Bruford (Jojo part 1, the one who gives the sword to Jonathan), Kai Chisaki/Overhaul (MHA), Nanami (Jujutsu), Vesta (the minister /scientist who will be exiled from the kingdom of dwarves and will end up working for Rimuru in Slime). He has a very recognizable voice, I must admit. I really like Denji and Powy's training, because roughly speaking, it takes into account their ability to force them to progress, but also it's so funny to see them trying to be intelligent. They actually wear glasses to appear more intelligent, which doesn't last very long lol. But I have to admit that Powy with glasses and tied hair is super cute. The relationship between Denji and Powy is also evolving, we compared them to that of cat and dog last time, but now they are almost brother and sister, and it's something that I really like. If only, Powy hitting Denji to restart his brain after all his deaths, it's certainly violent (we're talking about Powy after all), but she also does that for Denji.

I feel so bad for Aki though... In any other manga, two years would be the cost the Curse Devil would take... But in Chainsaw man? Naw, two years is all that's going to be left. You can see how brutal Devil Hunting can be... Which is why you should be wary of old men in this kind of profession. ...Kishibe's pretty great, isn't he? Doesn't he remind you of Mads Mikkleson? ...I don't know if it was ever confirmed that Kishibe's design was inspired by him, but the resemblance can be pretty close. xD ...Also I'm hoping next week's episode is the right subs. I mean if you're using an official source digitally, I'm pretty sure it's the right version, but one line certainly benefits from being lifted from the manga. ...Also if you've watched the Fate Series, I do hope you catch Fate/Fake Strange. o: That's going to be a real, Real, REAL good anime that twists and plays with a couple of tropes that's shown itself throughout the Fate Franchise.

The scene at the start when Aki starts crying is, kind of, in a twisted way, him fulfilling Himeno’s wish: “Don’t die on me - because when I die, I want you to cry for me.” Denji and Power hanging around Aki kinda remind you of pets hanging around an owner when they sense their master’s down huh? Denji is having a emotional crisis not uncommon among young men. It’s something even I personally wonder about myself, sometimes: see, I don’t usually get very emotional reactions to things (I would make a horrible reactor lol.) But as some one who wears their emotions on their sleeve, I’m sure you have people in your life who are like that. It doesn’t mean someone’s cold, they just internalize their feelings a lot more. Why is the drunk teacher giving me Qrow vibes? (Also he has not given his name yet.) Did you get Hunter x Hunter training arc vibes in a twisted way during all these shenanigans? Leave it to Power to come up with something that underhanded… whatever else you can say about her, it’s never boring when she’s on screen. Are you gonna eat that apple? 👀

The way Makima made the enemy's massive assault actually perversely work in her personal favor by creating the circumstances allowing her to consolidate power sure does make you wonder if she too has a side contract with the Future Devil herself, doesn't it?

One thing I love about Chainsaw Man is that for all the blood and gore and seriousness it can still be really funny.....the Drunken Master Sensei scenes had me cackling with laughter my first time through.

Ohhhhh you're so right :(((( Omg yes, they're totally like pets hanging around when you're down lol, that's so accurate! Haha nooo, reacting's not all about screaming, it just is for me :P But I hear you, and I do know people like that, who just process/express their emotions differently than what's typical, but that's ok. Ok cool, I thought I forgot the teacher's name! OMG I can totally see Qrow vibes lol! I can totally see the HxH vibes here, whoa! Yeah it's never a dull moment with Power around for sure hahaha. All this talk of apples has me thinking of Ryuk from Death Note!!!

Hi Spadeas! :) That's interesting about Makima, her power does seem really mysterious and it sounds like that's intentional. Oh that's a good point about how Makima's sexuality is really emphasized here, I hadn't really thought about it but you're really right! She definitely is seductive and frightening all at once! The symbolism of her as the "serpent" works really well. Kobeni really stepped up! That's true, it might be her contract too, good call. Right, Aimer's done SO much!!! Ohhh ok cool, thanks for the info on the teacher's name! No kidding about the VA, dang!!!! I knew he sounded familiar! Omg it was so fun seeing them trying to be clever wasn't it haha. I love that they wore glasses just for that reason lol!! I love Power's look too, omg! I can see that their bond is growing which is really fun. That's so true, hitting his brain like that is kinda sweet when you think about it haha.

kamenriderhime

OMG seriously, that was SO drastic!!! Oh good call, anyone who's lived to old age in this profession must be legit and probably pretty scary. Omg he does remind me of Mads Mikkelsen haha! You're so right! Oh I'm using crunchyroll so I hope it's right! Ohhhhhh I hadn't heard of that Fate!!! I've seen a few of them and even made a little Padoru for my Christmas tree :D That sounds amazing!!!

kamenriderhime

That's the thing, she was the first one I thought of when they mentioned people who had contracts with the Future Devil! I mean, that does kinda make sense, it's almost as if she knew how it would all fall into place....!

kamenriderhime

Omg it really can be quite funny!!!! Well dark humor works for this kind of show though. The sensei is quite comedic in a brutal way so far haha!!
