Hey everyone!  Here I am with the fourth ep of Oshi no Ko!!!!  Oh man, we've got a lot of moving parts here, what with the new dating show, Ruby and Kana making a go of it with their idol group, the CURSED COLLAB hahahahaha, etc.!  It's interesting to see how orchestrated even the "reality" shows can be.  And OMG you guys, I was not ready for the collab!!!  What on earth did I just watch hahahaha!!!!  Also, we're still on the hunt for info about Ai after finding out the producer isn't related.
So hopefully we can find out who this mysterious person was that she was seeing....as soon as the dating show thing is done!  Great ep!  Enjoy!!!  ~ MH

Hi Hime :) Kana having to play the face of a young girl falling in love with the protagonist, is not really played when she falls in love with Aqua lol. And if you think she's already gone bad, you haven't seen anything yet. Aqua using what he can to push the other actor to play the right way, reminds me of another series, Skip Beat, where our heroine is an amateur actress who will be confronted with a professional actor, who has will make it play correctly by provoking her to bring out what is needed. But not having liked being his "puppet", will try to progress to become a real actress and my god this series is good for that too. There's a scene later in Oshi no Ko that also reminds me of Skip Beat, I'll probably come back to it then. Ruby and Kana's reaction to "Aqua" for the reality TV show killed me with laughter. Between the sister who doesn't recognize her brother and the girl in love who doesn't recognize the one she has a crush on, it was ideal, the "drop dead" in unison was the peak. But at least Kana and Ruby agree on this. I knew that Pieyong was going to be fatal for you, between his already contrasting look and his voice on rather rock music, everything is designed to make us react with "WTF!". But this scene not only shows that our two Idol wannabes are serious and gain Pieyong's respect, Ruby also earns Kana's respect through it. Kana letting her choose the name of the group, shows that she trusts her and is finally ready to recognize herself as an idol at her side. And for the name, that's it, B Komachi was Ai's group, Ruby wants to take over by honoring the memory of Ai but also of the group she loved so much. As for the tone of the series, since I only have two episodes left to watch, don't let the silly aspect of this episode distract you, that's all I would say. Edit : Oh I forgot to remind you to learn the dance for the next time. And seeing that I finished the show yesterday night, i just want to tell, Kana is too precious and definitely my favorite girls in the show.

So Ruby is very eager to become an idol, obviously, even to the point she starts gushing about Kana’s “qualities,” before she’s even approached her. Her enthusiasm is understandable, but even Aqua finds it a bit off putting. Kana’s getting praise for her performance in the drama, but she kind of just stops thinking about everything when Aqua calls her… but it’s not what she’s expecting. When Ruby tells her of her intentions, the risk is extremely high to her - and failure would mean a collapse of not only her idol career, but also her acting career. If only there was SOMEONE who could be persistent enough to convince her to join… this actually shows just how observant Aqua is. He knows what Kana’s buttons are and that if he continues to push her, she will cave. As he put it, he read her like a book. It’s impressive. It’s also a bit of a scary talent. And despite her misgivings, Kama recognizes the potential Ruby has inherited - and that might be the ultimate thing that gets her to at least “give it a try.” Or, as she said…. She and her career both needed a shot in the arm. Her hope is short lived when she finds out Aqua’s in a dating show - and Ruby is none too keen about the prospect either. Both girls are rather defensive regarding Aqua and other girls - Ruby because she wants to protect her brother… and well, Kana’s motives are written all over her face. They hardly even recognize the guy they see on the show though, and Miyako points out everything is a performance in this industry. There will be some recurring faces from the dating show, so it’s probably a good idea to get to know them as they become more prominent. For now, the one who has the most interaction with Aqua on the show is Yuki - and she points out how to read direction in a unscripted setting and while it seems like she’s flirting - she’s noticed the camera is still rolling and is trying to make the shot interesting. This tactic will be important to note later. Aqua does admit part of his difficulty in opening up to others is he’s still hung up on Ai. It’s complicated doesn’t begin to cover it, Ruby seems to think she can run Aqua’s romantic life and just decide how the show goes… I wonder how Kana would feel if she found out about this side of her? 😅 (btw Nope, you can’t pick a ship yet. You’ll understand why when we get there.) Ruby’s dream of becoming an idol is risky and Kana tells her not to put all her eggs in the same basket, but have a fallback plan as well. But in the meantime, the internet’s as good a spot as any to put yourself out there - but you need views. You know this yourself - you can’t get people onto your Patreon without the YouTube videos being put out ahead of those. Popularity travels through recommendations and word of mouth. To get noticed, first you have to get someone to click. I knew you were going to have a reaction to Pieyon… I didn’t expect it to hit you quite that hard though… there’s one shot in the reaction where your expression and Kana’s look exactly the same at the same time, which you need to clip. 😂 Oh, and while we’re at it, I challenge you to talk like him for five minutes around someone tomorrow without cracking up. B Komachi is indeed the name of AI’s idol group, and it’s the first thing Ruby thought of after the workout - so now it’s out there for everyone to see and hear, so now we wait to see what kind of traction the two girls will get. Will it be a success? Or is this endeavor of theirs strictly a cheep knockoff that goes for the birds? Also, the next episode is probably one of the most powerful ones in the entire season. Be prepared. :)

Man now that you brought it up I wish I could go back to the 2000s. More networking was involved when being on those kinds of shows. Now everything is more interactive with the audience. 🤳 Sigh my youth *cheap cheap 🐣 🐥 💪 🐤

OMG yesssss I think about the 2000s all the time haha. It was totally different right?! I'm right there with you, good times XD XD XD

Hey Melissa:) In these episodes I was very surprised to see how well Aqua can act. I was really blown away by his acting skills and I think he can definitely become a great actor. I found it very interesting that they brought it up in this episode how bad it can be for mangaka when their work is animated or made into a live action film and then it's not true to the manga. I'm currently watching an anime that reflects exactly this topic. The manga deals with a controversial topic when it comes to romance (a 26-year-old man date a 16-year-old girl and they now eachother since childhood). I actually like that kind of thing, but the anime is animated so badly that it's almost funny to watch it because we got so many still images that you can no longer call it animation. the manga itself is really beautifully drawn and also has some very nice romantic scenes, but they are implemented very poorly in the anime so that you can hardly tell what the characters are actually doing. I don't even want to imagine how the mangaka feels when his work is so defaced and no more effort is made to deliver a good product in the end. I've been looking forward to your reaction to Pieyon for a long time because I knew you would really like it. Like you, I laughed so hard at these dance scenes and I thought this could be a scene in Jojo. the dating show where Aqua is currently taking part will take up a large part of the season. I always found it very interesting to see how Japanese dating shows differ from German ones because the quality is definitely visible. I find it a bit worrying if you film a dating show with minors, but as long as nothing shady happens, it's still okay. From the next episode onwards it will definitely be really exciting again.

I know, Ruby's really into this whole idol thing! It's sweet but I definitely get worried for her. I know, at first I was like, Aqua is TOTALLY taking advantage of the fact she likes him here lol. But honestly I think maybe he doesn't totally get how Kana feels about him. He does read her like a book in every other aspect though, which is kinda scary. If there's one thing Ruby and Kana can agree on, it's that they don't want Aqua doing this show lol. Thanks for the heads up on the new characters from the show! Interesting about the tactics that Yuki is using, I'll be curious to see how the dynamic goes on this whole dating show! Yeah complicated doesn't even begin to cover his feelings for Ai lol. Awwwww man I still can't pick a ship?! If you say so!!! That's so true, I know all about views and having to get attention on my videos starting from scratch!!!! Hahahaha I was NOT ready for Pieyon!!! OHHHHH is there really a shot where we're having the same expression? Well, that'll be the thumbnail for the YouTube version for sure :P Thanks haha! OMG, I could never do it - that voice would have me rolling on the ground! I mean, it's bold taking the name of an already existing, popular group, especially one with some controversy around it due to Ai's death. It'll be interesting to see where it all goes!!!!! WHOA, thanks for the warning about next ep!!!

Hey Leonie! :) Yeah Aqua has some serious skills!!! It's too bad about how these adaptations must affect authors, right? Wow, I can't believe that about the anime adaptation you're watching, that's too bad! I've never seen an anime with that many still images, yikes!!! What a shame that the translation from manga to anime didn't do the beauty of the manga very much justice. It must be really hard as a mangaka to see that happen! Your work is such an extension of your personal self, you know? Hahahaha I'm so glad you liked my reaction to Pieyon!!! HAHAHAHAHA ok I didn't say it but the first thing I thought was that this looks like something that belongs in Jojo :P That's interesting about the dating show, and also about the differences. That's a good point, I'm not sure I've ever seen a dating show with minors before? I feel like most American ones are people over 18. I can't wait to see more of this season!!!!

kamenriderhime

Hi Spadeas! :) Oooohhh good point about Kana's role lol. I've heard of Skip Beat! That's interesting, it's quite a skill to know how to motivate others. I'd be curious to know what the other scene is that reminds you of Skip Beat when we get there! Hahahaha their reaction to Aqua on the show was priceless!!! At least they can agree on that, so true. LOL Pieyong!!! I couldn't handle it!!! They did make quite a bit of progress through this experience though! That's a big step to take Ai's idol group name! Whoa, sounds like the next episodes will be intense! OHHHH thank you, I do need to learn the dance!!! Awww so glad you finished it!!! I'm loving Kana so far :D

Luckily Strawberry Productions owns the "B Komachi" Intellectual Property and song rights....if nothing else they can sing cover versions of OG "B Komachi's" greatest hits. In the early 2000s I was going for my 2nd Master's degree (Library Science) and got married (and divorced).... I'm OLD ;-)
