Of the many wonders and oddities one can encounter while traversing the Shattered Isles, there are few more revered than the monolith known simply as ‘The Ancient Sword’.

Seemingly carved out of a dark stone, the sword is driven deep into a rocky precipice high above the raging waters below.

Though few civilised people live in the region since The Fall, it is said that the local bands of cutthroats and pirates use it to aid navigation owing to its height but more importantly as a site to settle feuds.

Indeed, while not known for their honour, even bands of brigands evidently require rules. Two aggrieved parties will meet beneath ‘The Ancient Sword’ and if resolution can not be reached through words, they will duel to the death. Accounts speak of the victor then being required to place the heart of the vanquished atop a crude altar, while the body is consigned to the depths…....
