A quick update to end the year! (Patreon)
Content
Hi all! I hope everyone is having a good year's end, whether it's spending time with your loved ones, having a blast playing video games (Cara in Creekmaw included!), or if you're just catching up on your sleep!
Small incoming update!
There will be one update to the game before the year's end, which will target several reported issues relating to the game, such as script errors, dialogue inconsistencies, and gameplay inconsistencies. All of these issues have been worked on and (because of my limited upload speeds) I will be planning this one-time update to address all of the issues all at once!
What's next?
As an opener to the new year that is soon upon us, there will be a poll on the 1st of January that will decide my next step in development! Following this poll (starting from the 5th of January), it will be the usual round of back-to-back polls post-release allowing everyone to vote on what they liked about the episode, what they didn't like, and how things can be improved moving forward.
There will also be minor restructuring of a few tiers and their benefits during January as well, where I will include new tier(s) and provide clear details of any changes made to existing tiers!
My key takeaways (summarized)
While this part will be something discussed in detail in my proper retrospective post, there are a few things that I have learned through this release:
- This is probably the first and last major episodic Christmas release (doing everything away from the comforts of home is far from ideal). Of course, this doesn't discount other ideas (for example a Christmas mini-series).
- This was said before during the post-review of E1P2 but this time for real: more time will be allocated to proper testing of the game even before the Alpha release. Now that I'm doing this full-time, quality should be an even greater priority than it was before.
- Ready when it's ready; instead of projecting a release window when I have about 70% of the game ready, I will instead opt to have this window when I know that the game is 100% ready (i.e. ready after a round or two of internal testing).
Alright, that's all I have for everyone! With that, I will sign off for the year 2023 as I look forward to the first full year of development of Cara in Creekmaw in 2024!
Stay safe and healthy!
