I think it was a solid episode . Fleshing out Gilbert and showing the viewer how much of a good guy he was , especially to Violet. Also I have not thought about it , but you nailed it about Hoddgins character. The unworthy demeanour is def how i would see him. It is probably because he was in a war , because he lost his friend and such . So even from first episode it always seemed like hes never pushy or bossy . So the action set pieces. I am two ways about it. I reallly like it based on technical merits and just fantastic animation and just being anime as fuck that whole segment with Violet. But I think i would have preffered something uglier and more grounded/slowerit would have more impact i feel. But then again the show itself goes into those anime like set pieces from time to time , so its not like its actually new. I just thought the horrors of war and just the ugly side of it and Violet killing enemies was portrayed a bit idealized and stylized . Then again i am just nit picking , lol
