Defo a weird introduction to Amelia. I guess she was supposed to be like, a strong assertive female but really she was just being a MAJOR bitch. Not everyone is capable of taking care of a dog. Yes, Sam took responsibility by bringing it to the hospital, he wasn't asking for a trophy, he just fixed the problem he created. "If you're such an upstanding guy, why'd you hit the dog in the first place?" Like, it was maybe a friggin ACCIDENT? Hitting a dog with your car doesn't make you responsible for taking care of it for the rest of it's life, especially if it's an 80 lb dog and you live in a friggin car. Yeah, that scene really pisses me off too 🦖 Also, didn't Dean quit for a year? When he lived with Lisa and Ben and played golf and poker and mowed the lawn?

I've been waiting for this! I absolutely love the Purgatory flashbacks and storyline! Don't really care much for the dog storyline, much as I love dogs. Also, the way Amelia (the vet) was talking to Sam annoys the hell outta me, argh. Can't wait for you to learn more about Benny! One of my favorite supporting characters in the show! BTW, the filter of the Purgatory flashbacks was an aesthetic decision to set the mood for Purgatory specifically, it's not just a flashback thing (like, if the characters go there now, it will still look like that even though it's "the present"). I actually liked that:) it sets the mood there nicely in a low-budget way and it works for me:)

I love how they refer to the whole year that Sam normal life as "Sam hit a dog"

This is a really good episode and season premier. The show is in newish hands now - again. Carver has taken over the leadership role in the showrunner team.

Some of my top 10 episodes are in this season...looking forward to your reactions to them. I also liked the scene work between J2 - especially the motel room. Sam in the doorway, very relaxed and calm...exactly what I would expect from someone who took a year vacation and had the time to process their losses. Wanting to understand and strong enough to not only hear, but help his brother through the year of hell he just went through. And Dean...he could barely sit still, like he was itchy in his own skin. Major PTSD. He ended up on the floor facing away from Sam - like the bed was even too soft for him. It broke my heart, but in all the right ways this show is famous for. Beautifully done. As always, some very astute observations were made about this episode and where it could possibly lead. Time will tell. Great start to a great season.

Jared always talks about how that's the one part written he didn't like or agree with, that Sam didn't even look for Dean. Very out of character for him forsure!

I'm excited for what's to come!
