My friends, I had to start with the facade even when logic was telling me to paint the rusty shack first.

I tried to match the colors and the wear with the reference images. The warmer tones contrast very well with the remnants of white paint! On the other side, the faded wood on the wooden barn door will be very similar in tone, so I'll have to figure out some sneaky trick to increase the contrast.

Most of the base coloring was done with sponges, followed by a layer of chipping fluid and the same colors were applied more heavily - this helps to increase the visual texture in a very subtle way. The chipped white paint was airbrushed, but each layer of chipping fluid was applied with a large flat brush. Enamel washes took care of the cracks and various stains, and off-white acrylic highlighted the chipped edges. I'd love to do some more work and start painting the bricks, but this was actually quite time-consuming!

More to come soon!

P.S. The metal shack covered in grey primer looks so neat, almost like a 3D render! :)
