Today I announced a change in the way RFR will be distributed here on Patreon. While all of the exclusive content like Babu Freaks, RFR Q&A, etc will continue to be posted here, the Weekly RFR and After Show audio podcasts will be available via subscription to our free main feed on podcast services like iTunes, or downloaded directly at our website. This move is to direct traffic to our main feed for any podcast we make publicly available and benefit the overall growth of the show. Those show files will no longer be individually posted here, yet we will post a link to every episode, and Early Bird releases are no longer possible unless someone can figure out a way to add an extra day to the week.

This means you will have an additional feed to get the free shows. The show will include advertising, and this is an issue many have with the change. We keep our advertising as minimal as possible considering the show averages 2 hours. We think our sponsors offer great services and products that are worth your while and we appreciate their support as well as yours.

I explained in the post why its a move we'd like to make, but since we are a community here, I am all ears and interested in what you think.

Adrian

Really wish I hadn’t just saw this now and missed like 3 shows.

Adam from Indy

Same here, Adrian! 😂 it’s really not a big deal, but I did really like the ad free version on the Patreon feed.

Dominic Paruta

Makes sense. All good guys. Whatever is best for the show! Thanks for letting us know!

Dominic Paruta

Can you work on that Jersey meet up now with Kyle and Kevin 🤣?!?!

David

I want RFR to succeed. If that means directing more listens to your feed - DO IT!!

Matt Marks

Whatever is best for RFR

Chris Hansford

I’m guessing the full show video will still be available here?

Simon Abram

100% in support. It makes sense and it is what is best for RFR to keep thriving.

Jared Cantor

I want RFR to do what's best for the show wrt listener numbers (and I accept that the early Bird episodes are a thing of the past). I'm voting that I'd PREFER not to see this change because it means ads, which is true, but I also accept that it may be necessary.

Nick Zolotko

I want RFR to stay on top of the charts. Ads are minimal compared to any show on terrestrial radio or some other 2 hour long shows. While I did voice my opinion (against ads) in the other post, I fully support this move.

Blake Weaver

I really enjoyed getting the main show a day early so I could enjoy it at work. But the changes really don’t make a difference for me so I’m cool with it.

Rick B

I am fine with the change. Will miss the early but it is understandable. The ads are minimal in my opinion.

Colonel Angus

Whatever is best for you and helps keep RFR moving is just fine by me. Thanks for all you do!

Steve S

Whatever you need to help grow RFR.

Eric from Phoenix

Totally fine. I never use the Patreon site to listen to audio podcasts and I don’t care about the day early anymore. So much content that I can’t usually get to the early bird before it’s released to everyone. I did struggle getting this set up correctly on my IPhone but that is most likely operator error. Think I have it set up correctly now.

Todd “Suds” Sedlacek

Here’s the way I see the ads being in the weekly and after show - I don’t pay for those shows, I pay for all the extra content you get on Patreon that is ad-free. Whatever you need to do is just fine by me. Love you guys!

Nick Zolotko

I am usually a week behind so early bird is no longer a "perk" for me as well. Totally agree with you Eric.

Brian Frith

With the amount of work you put into the shows I personally don’t mind listening to the ads and not getting early access. I prefer to listen to the show when it’s released for general public anyway. Great work as always.

Harrison

Ya'll already put so much love and effort into the show. I'm down for whatever makes it easier for your guys and continues to help the community grow!

Calvin McPherson

No complaints here. Try listening to an iheartradio podcast. Shows are half the length but have 10-15 minutes of ads. RFR doesn't even come close to that.

Jonathan Jones

I prefer the ad-free RFR, but i’m ok with the change. I always wondered about how the two feeds affected the podcast stats. Even at the $1 tier, RFR has more content than anyone else in the game.

Todd F

The RFR ads are fine, the ones inserted by the podcast app are the annoying ones. Thus why we have a skip button... What ever helps the show guys!

Drake Widlake

I found RFR through ITunes years ago. If this helps bring in new RFR listeners like me who dumbly found you. Go for it!

Kelly Ishikawa

Love the show; happy with whatever you have to do!

Pistol Pete

It’s a bummer Patreon can’t link the RSS feed to the main podcast show on the iPhone app but it’s not that much work to go back and forth and if it helps the show I’m happy to do it.

Pistol Pete

Sounds like you just have to bounce between the 2 shows on the iPhone podcast app. Main feed and RFR Patreon feed. Not a big deal. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Chief

I use a pod catcher app (pocket casts) on Android, I have a Patreon feed in there. I guess this means I'll just have two separate podcasts feeds in there now? Kind of annoying, but I get it.

Valentin

Will I still get the show on stitcher ?

Adam Taylor

Perfectly fine. I pay for RFR to support RFR, the extra shows are a bonus. I’d like to think people understand how much content we get from two married working men with families. It’s a gift.

Adam Taylor

If you have the rss feed and the main show subscribed they both just pop in to your feed, there’s zero anyone needs to do after the initial click of the follow button.

Pistol Pete

Interesting. I always have to go back and forth by going into the app and picking the podcast and the show I want to listen too

Pistol Pete

Actually I think I avoid the feed because so much gets muddled in there from other shows I’m subbed too. Thanks for the help

Tom Davis

No complaints here. Whatever is best for RFR.

MrPickles

Maybe if I hear more "MeUndies" ads it'll remind me to change my underwear.

Orange County Carlos

I don’t get it, right now, but whatever works best for you guys! I’m here to support RFR however RFR works! It’s the content I like, not the way I receive said content.

Jared Cantor

I take it this change has already gone into effect? I just subscribed to the regular rfr RSS feed and I see the after show for this week's bad batch episode is there but it hasn't come through on the patreon feed

Michael McManus

Whatever is the best fit for RFR is what matters. No worries here guys!

Melissa McGuire

I actually only listen to the Patreon feed via my subscription entered into iTunes so I think this will be no change to me. And I’m 100% fine with advertising. Whatever keeps you on the air

Jeremy Hopper

I actually like this better because I'm subscribed to both in my Podcasts app on my iPhone, and I already am having to ignore one of the shows posted to both.

Chris

Rock and Roll, RFR.

Federico

Good evening, everyone! How do you Subscribe to the regular Rfr RSS feed? Forgive my ignorance, I am trying but I Just can't find it

Todd Stewart

I'm always happy to do whatever supports RFR. I even try out - and sometimes buy from - RFR sponsors.

Federico

Thank you for your reply, Jimmy! time to enjoy another great Rfr podcast!

Gabe Mines

I stayed subscribed to the free RFR podcast when I signed up the for the patreon because I didn’t want you guys to lose a subscriber on the main feed! Whatever is best for you guys works for me. So grateful for all the work you do to get us the BEST Star Wars content out there!

Tyler Page

If you haven’t changed em yet I feel like you gotta keep going

Andy

Whichever is best for you guys, feel lucky to have y’all available.

Dave

I was subscribed to both anyway to keep up the numbers. I wonder how much impact this will have. Hope it helps!

Jarchewa

No biggie for me! I appreciate everything RFR does!

Matthew Dillingham

Jimmy and Jason! thank you for your openness and willingness to hear what your followers think! Overall I think the changes will be fine. But who knows for certain, always in motion is the future.

Connor Tully

I dont use iTunes, whats a good option to listen to the main feed not on patron?

Rebel Force Radio

There are more podcast platforms than I can count and RFR is on all of them. Most popular seem to be Amazon, Apple, Spotify, Pandora...And you can always use the links we provide here.

Clarence Brown

While i like having everything in one feed, i don’t mind it too much.

Jim from Sweden

The risk of spreading out too much. You have Patreon, RFR Homepage, YouTube and all the different podservices that distribute your shows.

Jim from Sweden

I remember asking you once when I found you on Spotify too, where I do mmost of my podcastlistening, which service was best for you, paid the most revenue etc. But you did not answer then. But if you could name the best way to support you financially by just listening to the shows, which one would you recommend?

Rebel Force Radio

It’s not really a matter of money. It’s about numbers. More people listing to our main free public feed increases our visibility across the web.

Cole Ziegler

No problem at all! Whatever is best for RFR. Thanks for being transparent.

Adam Cosier

Damn I just signed up to avoid the commercials on iTunes.

Jim from Sweden

Good to know. But I assume then that Spotify is also an OK source to give you the desired numbers? Or would you prefer another? I have no issues with switching provider if it helps you.

Chris Sorrentino

I trust you guys, whatever you need to do, do it

Danny

No issue at all!! and if its better for the show, heck yes, it's a good idea!!

Ryan Parker

So has this happened already? Do I need to re-sub to the main feed in my podcatcher?

Randy Koch

Will the video feed only be kept to patreon? I mean that and oxygen was the only thing keeping me.

Eric from Phoenix

Yes, the video and Patreon only content will continue to be available on the Patreon app or the RSS feed

Christopher Ceresa

Will there still be full show video posted to Patreon for all access?
