I also have a story about sperm donation…. A friend of mine married a slightly older man that had his own kids and a vasectomy before they met. His vasectomy didn’t reverse successfully so she used a sperm donor from California. She didn’t want any donor near Ohio so her kid wouldn’t have random siblings around. She also chose a 1/2 Korean 1/2 Caucasian man because her husband is 1/2 Korean 1/2 Caucasian. A lesbian couple in our small Ohio town also used a sperm donor from California so their kid wouldn’t have random siblings around. They chose a 1/2 Korean 1/2 Caucasian man because the birth mother is 1/2 Korean 1/2 Caucasian. She ended up having twins. You can see where I’m going, right? When their 3 kids were 6 yrs old they all got notifications about the shared father. All 3 kids had just gotten accepted into the Spanish immersion class. That means from 1st-6th grade they were always in the same class. They are all in 6th grade now and still have no idea that they are all siblings!

The Reddit deep dives on Kyle Gordy, the sperm donor is beyond disturbing. I am not sure how I feel about watching him. There’s video out there of him telling women in other countries, that by being “inseminated” with his American sperm, they can be citizens. Nope. That requires the American birth father on the birth certificate and claiming those children as legal his. This man is pathological in his pursuit of impregnating women.

My anecdotal evidence regarding transitioning in a relationship… from the outside in, I think it’s pretty challenging to do! My dear friend and her partner of over a decade just split up after one of them transitioned. (And before that, the same situation with another close friend of mine!) Of course, there’s always more going on than we see. But that’s a whole lot of change, euphoria, discovery, grief, fear, soul searching. If people can do it, that’s incredible. But that’s a lot for a relationship to hold. I’m kind of with Poodle. Maybe not always having to wipe the slate clean but I could see needing time and space to process those changes and emotions and if you find your way back together then that’s a bonus.

Now, my opinion of Kyle is definitely biased by my own experiences, but was someone who has C-PTSD, my mouth was agape at the entire segment. I agree Poodle, IT DOES NOT FEEL SAFE, and Mattie, I also agree that the points system is one of the worst parts. I totally thought he was kidding, but when he patted her and said “good girl,” my blood turned to ice. And of course I know my reaction probably seems overdramatic, but I’m pretty stunned they aired this. I am guessing they can get away with it because Kyle looks very young and not physically threatening. Thank goodness Ani is 39 and there is a film crew there, but I can honestly say I have never been this “triggered” (that word is so overused, but I use it with the absolute technical definition) by something on 90 Day. So sorry for the essay!! I just had to write it somewhere. This season overall looks fantastic, and I can’t wait to listen to my favorite duo talk about it!! Love you guys 💕

I’ve seen the opposite - I know three different couples where one spouse has transitioned where as of now they’re still together (in one case it’s been like 15 years, in the other cases maybe a few years). These are just “people I know” not super close friends who tell me all their business so who knows but they seem happy 🤷🏻‍♀️. Also - when it comes to doing a lot of caretaking .. in all of these cases the spouse who hasn’t transitioned is a cisgender woman soooo like that’s what relationships are for us anyway

Very interesting perspective! Kudos to them. That’s a good point about caretaking. Between my friends, there was both MTF and FTM transitions. But again, there’s more to it than just the transitioning. If there’s already cracks or doubts of course it could crumble under the weight. Anyway, I feel like it’s not talked about often or in straight spaces at all especially so I appreciate hearing others experiences even if they themselves didn’t transition.

When Kyle was marking the locations of all of his children on that map my mouth was agape. It reminded me of how serial killers keep documentation/ mementos of their victims. I think there is psychopathy there. He’s also incapable of emotionally connecting to women (he isn’t able to date or be in relationships) which also leads me to think this man is a psychopath. I’ve been watching every spin off of 90 day for as long as I can remember and no one has triggered the level of ick in me that Kyle has. I found myself as a therapist getting very concerned as he described this clearly predatory behavior. Yes, we can agree that it’s technically consensual intercourse. However, I doubt there’s any mental health screenings going on to determine whether or not these women are cognitively and emotionally on the same page. Clinics exist to ensure that both participants in this process are aware of all of the potential repercussions of engaging in this exchange of goods. Kyle’s constant insistence, that what he is doing, is somehow for the betterment of the world and not just a way for him to have unprotected sex with women with zero repercussions/responsibilities is deeply troubling. The producers decision to allow him on this show is shocking. At a certain point there has to be a line between weird behavior and predatory behavior when considering casting.

So this storyline w Allia and Shawn. This exact thing happened to my sister. A month or so before her wedding her fiance (a man) told her he was going to start transitioning into a woman. She is now Katherine & better than ever. She's so much happier & I am so happy for her too. But I did have concerns and talk to my sister about it. My sister is younger than me but so wise. She told me it's the same intelligence, same humor, same person inside. BUT she fell in love with Katherine as Matt so I really worried about her having to grieve Matt and fall in love again w Kat. My sister is not gay. Unfortunately it didn't work out & they are divorced but she really did try so hard with Kat. Fortunately they are still friends and they still have lots of love for each other It's just that the romantic part of it is not there anymore
