I was amused when Maple mentioned The Lord of the Rings, because of course, one of the actors from it was in Alien. Can't wait to watch the reaction.

its pretty common nowadays, but back in 1979, its was really groundbreaking to have a strong female character in a leading role--Sigourney Weaver killed it in this movie!!

YES her character did so much for female protagonists in an industry that was very biased at the time. The original script was actually written with unisex characters, and they didn't decide to make her female until it came time for casting. Thank goodness they did!
