FYI. The guy who brought back Wei Wuxian (the lead) killed himself (hence all the blood and the ghostly man talking to Wei Wuxian at the beginning) and sacrificed his body to summon (ie. save from death) Wei Wuxian to get revenge on his relatives after years of abuse. The dead man wore a mask all his life, so they never saw his face and so didn't know that he had changed into Wei Wuxian. The family died by the ghosts and so the scars went away, even though Wei Wuxian himself didn't kill them. He does have some power over spirits, so he released the two men who were possessed to fight the woman in order to protect the others. That's why they fought her.

In the novel, Mo Xuanyu actually looks different. They probably just kept the actor the same for TU so you can connect with him more
