Like most of post timeskip. This arc is nerfed by bad pacing. Its adaptation is sub par imo, but it’s one piece, so it’s good either way. Can’t sugarcoat. Though toei did get better at anime canon this arc. Can’t blame toei too much, as they were being held on a leash to commit to bad pacing by shuhiesha and fujitv.

The pacing challenges stem from the fact that they are limited on time (since it's been a weekly anime for 25+ years), while at the same time having to keep behind the weekly ongoing manga. I get that it frustrates people, but it's a story-heavy manga/anime so it's difficult to meet the pacing demands. Luckily the remake won't have the same issue since by the time it releases the story will be finished or very close to it.

Watched weekly, this arc made me drop the series for two years with no sign of returning. There was a big disconnect, even though the manga was great, the anime is what hooked me, so watching it was a cause of irritation for what happened to one of my favourite Shonen. Return once my friend told me what was happening in the manga.

I don't think Shanks would go to the Five Elders to talk about Kaido. I mean Shanks isn't worried about Kaido at all. Remember back when Shanks arrived to Marinrford and the marines said Shanks was at Wano and stopped Kaido from coming to the war and that they had some sort of "clash"? We didn't get to see what actually happened between the two but that's what we were told as the audience...
