Hi all!

I'm really sorry this announcement is delayed this much. I wanted to do it last week, but life's been LIFE.

This week is admin week! Much needed, I've been struggling to get all the words I need to get done. We're approaching the end of BTDEM, and ending stuff is SUPER hard. Yeah, there's a whole book and a half to go, but I'm working on a smooth landing even now. (Remember - I've got about half of a book of backlog ahead of Patreon. 'Start of 15' for you is 'halfway through 15' for me). I want to do this well, and I'm finding it harder and harder to write. I do have the next story planned out, and it's making me vibrate with excitement. I don't have the capacity to write two stories at once, but it's not helping. The plot bunnies are distracting... and for once, I can't ignore them or easily slip them into BTDEM.

Christmas! I take plenty of administrative time, but I'm going to take the week of Christmas off! The week after that is the last December week though. I don't know if the week after that will be admin week, or a posting week. We'll see.

Thank you again for being with me every step of the way!

The Schedule!

Week of December 2nd: Admin
Week of December 9th: Posts as usual

Week of December 16th: Posts as usual
Week of December 23th: Christmas!
Week of December 30th: Posts as usual

This is the trouble with letting our authors not undergoing the robot conversion process. Bloody meat suits needing down time. Bring on the mechanisation revolution!

Given the depressing flood of AI-generated nonsense hitting the market right now, this is getting dangerously close to no longer being funny.

Trust me mate, ai isn’t anywhere near replacing authors like Selkie. Try holding a conversation with any ai, and it is still easy to see then fall into traps and just go into an error loop. AI still doesn’t understand why you can put a cup into a wardrobe, but not a wardrobe in a cup. Language is easy to replicate, but story telling is bloody hard, as it requires understanding the physical universe and how we interact with it in all our weird and unusual ways. When ai can successfully drive a car through heavy traffic better than the best driver, or hell, the worst driver, then is the time to get concerned. Until then, Elon can suck himself off and AI companies are money sucking leeches who tell us ai will go al skynet whilst still trying to advance ai.
