*sigh* I was afraid of this day... Goodbye, Korra. I reaaally loved you...

Jaime Diaz

I’m so glad to have been part of this journey with you. Your reactions to this show and ATLA brought so many good memories.

Dreanner95

You may find out the nature of Korra and Asami's relationship pretty soon if you start reading "Turf Wars". But it isn't really a secret. The writers were pretty quick to reveal that this end was supposed to be the beginning of their romantic relationship. But because of nickelodeon and the time this aired, there were restrictions put on how much they were allowed to show. I think making a parallel to Katara and Aang at the end of Avatar was pretty smart. And on top of that the comics don't have these same restrictions.

Robert L

It was fun watching the world of Avatar through your eyes. Can't wait for us to return.

DmanUNT2014

We're finally here at the end. It was so fun watching you react to my favorite series of all time. You are definitely my favorite reactor when it comes to this franchise. We all love ATLA, but I also love your mindset coming into Korra as well. The vocal minority that hates on this series affects some reactors, but I'm glad you never let them affect your expectations coming into this show. I think Korra being cut off from the previous avatars is what turned a lot of people off, but personally, I don't think it's the end all be all. Raava might've been reset, but that didn't kill the spirits of the previous Avatars. I believe there will be a way to connect w/ their spirits in the future. Maybe in the spirit world. Who knows. The next Avatar in the cycle always seems to overcome their predecessor's biggest regret so maybe the Earth bending Avatar will find a way to reconnect with the previous Avatars. Just a personal theory of mine lol. On the other side of the coin, the current Avatar's success always affects the next Avatar in a negative way, so I wonder how bringing the spirits back with the humans will be an issue for the next Avatar as well. Either way, in the comics it's stated that Korra is documenting EVERYTHING and plan on leaving it behind for the next Avatar so it should be fun! Speaking of the comics, yes, Korra and Asami are a thing! Sorry for the long comment, I love this world so I can definitely yap away sometimes. I can not wait for Avatar Studios to do the thing! Once again, I'm glad you enjoy this franchise as much as you do. It was a joy to watch you react to it. Take care!

Traditionally the main goal of the current Avatar is to undo the failings and shortcomings of the previous Avatar. Korra's biggest failing was the loss of the connection of the former Avatars, and there is a popular fan theory that the next Avatar, the Earth Avatar, will somehow restore this connection. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Kevin Pomeroy

You pretty much said everything that was in my comment but said it first and better.

Korrasami is real!! I remember watching season 3 when it came out and noticing what I though was romantic interest. I wrote it off because I didn't think they would/could do that. Happy to be proven wrong. Google "Korrasami Turtleduck". Korrasami, Hiroshi redeaming himself, Zhurrick wedding & Kuvira surviving for (maybe) future redemtion. Korra is my favourite character in The legend of Korra. I'm pretty sure she is actually my favorite character in all of Avatar. What a character arc. Compare her now to the brash and aggressive from season 1. She was never bad but still flawed and that is a difficult balancing act. And the Korra alone arc really hits home for me. I'm not watching the LA reactions so, for me, this is the end of Avatar reactions... For now. The animated movie can't come soon enough.

Michele Jean

Welcome to the end. The end did have a lovely little bow. The end with the hand holding, it was decided that was the boundary the team decided to push to imply an intimate relationship blooming. The reprised version of TLoK theme at the end of the last episode always chokes me up, it was what my wife walked the isle to several years ago. I hope you get to enjoy the expanded stories via the graphic novels and books.

Jenna

Thank you for sharing your journey with us! This show holds such a special place in my heart-- it's definitely got some rougher moments, but at its core it's such a great story for Korra as a character. I definitely agree with you that the pacing is weird at points, and sometimes it seems like storylines are really thoughtfully begun but then aren't ended properly (usually as you said because they just didn't have the time/budget to do so)-- one of my biggest gripes actually is with the handling of the equalist plot way back in book 1! I loved the concept but I've always thought the ending doesn't treat the equalist movement with the nuance it potentially had. The Kuvira ending does sometimes feel a little weird too, but I'm largely ok with it because it's just SO perfect for Korra's personal growth as a character. Exercising restrain, wisdom, and compassion at the end of her story really feels fitting. Other comments have mentioned the Korra and Asami ending, and the reasons for why it was so vague, but I will just say I've always appreciated how it was done despite their limitations. So many shows are ended with big romantic declarations of love (not a bad thing!) so it's actually kinda refreshing to see an ending where two people are just tentatively acknowledging that they're into each other and ready to see where it goes. It's very mature and not at all teen drama love triangle-y :) And it very much feels like a beginning rather than an ending!

Sakura man

Very nice reactions, I'm glad I could watch you discover the avatarverse, my rating: TLOK: S1 - 7/10 ATLA: S1 - 9/10 N live action: 8/10 S2 - 7/10 S2 - 10/10 S3 - 10/10 S3 - 10/10 S4 - 9/10 I love ATLA and TLOK and I love this fictional world, but the adventure doesn't end there are two live action series to come and a new Aang movie should be out in 2025, I can't wait.

Hi, I am Hi.

I actually got a slightly different ending when I first saw the finale. In the ending I saw Korra and Asami kiss at the portal before the "the end" came up (I can neither confirm or deny that I might have illegally downloaded it😅) annnnnnd I didn't like it. It didn't ruin the show or anything like that, I just think it was out of place, like it came out of nowhere. Then like 2 years later I rewatched the show and got, obviously, the "right" ending where they don't kiss. And honestly I liked it way more that way. I personally didn't see enough to make me believe they were already at that stage in their relationship. I feel like implying it like they did works best (even though it was quite vague), it gives the relationship more time to 'cook'. Because apart from Korra blushing at a compliment from Asami, there was no real indication of that type of relationship, at least that I remember.

Zachery Love

Future historians will say Korra and Asami were just roomates, lol. Potential hot take: Aang was a better Avatar, but Korra was a better protagonist.

Amy

korra only wrote to asami, asami was always there for korra when she went through stuff, asami was always fond of korra, even when korra and mako dated, they always knew how to communicate and be gentle with each other (unlike korra and mako), the blushing, the comforting hands at the end of season 3 etc. it was pretty obvious that there was something there to me personally!

peachy af

I couldn't agree more on what you said about asami, she's always had her head in the game and was always the most level-headed of The Krew, and it's so unfortunate how underutilized she was. Her and sokka were both brilliant non-benders, but it seems they weren't sure how to give her as much of a proper arc as him. Makes me sad :( but I still love her character from what we were given

Hi, I am Hi.

It is also what friends do, specially girl-friends. It is probably just a personal thing in that regard, what we interpreted personally. However I do feel like films do have to make it a little bit more obvious though.

Hi, I am Hi.

"Shippers" ship everything 😂 they just see 2 people they like and think they would be good together so they 'ship it'

Oscar Villalobos

The Avatar always gets the girl. Thank you for being a part of this journey!! Its not a goodbye its a see you later with more animation coming in the future. Like the cycle of the seasons we will be back ❤️ 🔥💨🌊🪨

James

Shes my favorite reactor for this franchise too. She always lets out her feelings and gets swept up in the story and characters. I love when she gets emotional because she truly cares about these characters and world. I also love how she sees characters and knows they arent just one note. They have deeper motivations and she doesnt hold them to everything they do. Shes really great at reading characters which makes the reactions much better.

James

It probably all stems from season 1 being developed as a miniseries. They were never planning on having these characters in more than a season. So with the sudden renewal they had to work with what was already made. I think they did pretty good, definitely some rough spots but it worked out fine in the end.

Theo Brown

What an amazing journey this has been watching the whole franchise with you. I am a seasoned Avatar franchise lower, having been apart of the franchise as fan since 2007. You are one of the best reactors to the show that I have come across. Amazing journey!

Mathies

In all honesty, I wouldve expected you to notice the romantic tension in S4ep7 when Korra blushed at Asami's compliment. There's hints previous to that their feelings for eachother are deeper than a platonic one through out seasons 3 and 4, but this one was the first time they were really overt. As much as you COULD be blushing for a platonic compliment, I feel like there would be no reason to animate it if it was just that. Like they were pulling attention to it cuz they want you to notice that something is happening there. But a LOT of reactors did only see it watching the finale so you're definitely not alone! but if you want me to list all the korrasami-coded moments in the show I'd be happy to do so!

funnylilgalreacts

I love that is has that special meaning for you two! I flipped through a few pages of the fisrt book and saw a kiss and was like "well now I HAVE to read this"

funnylilgalreacts

It wasn't a perfect show but I think that kinda matches Korra. She stumbled a lot and there were some messes to clean up but she prevailed through it all. Aang was a near perfect Avatar and I think it makes it harder to see him flawed.

funnylilgalreacts

I think this assessment matches my own feelings. S2 of TLOK fumbled because of outside forces and they could've nailed it but it fell short.

funnylilgalreacts

I never got romantic vibes but I do think they have chemistry. Like when they were in the car together and laughing about Mako and that whole ordeal. They really balance well with each other.

Ietseatapples

IMO, Avatar the last Airbender is the kind of masterpiece that a writer or creator only gets once. Its honestly amazing that they were able follow it up with a strong, but imperfect spin-off. Usually spin-offs suck and flame out fast. But Korra is a fantastic show and has withstood the test of time. Its not perfect by any means. It isn't as tight in places as we would like... Its clearly been messed & mucked around w/ by Nickelodeon.. But that doesn't change the fact that it still has that magic.

funnylilgalreacts

I thought it was cute to compliment her and I won't lie, when women compliment me I'm definitely more excited about it. I don't think it was overt and in your face, but it was a cute moment between friends and it was meaningful to Korra and that's a good start.

kevandrecactus

I am glad you're starting full Metal though! You'll get some similar feels from that as you get from the avatar shows for sure

Joseph Davey

cant believe her reactions are over love both atla and korra. loved seeing you cry and laugh with these shows

Mathies

okay so, this is gonna be a long comment but here we go: 1. generally, Korra is REALLY confrontational in any sort of argument. be it Mako, or Tenzin, or Raiko, even her parents, she just fires right back at them. But she seemed very scared of having Asami ever being mad at her. exhibit A: S3E1, Asami teaching her how to drive Korra divulges having kissed Mako and when Asami feigns being mad over it her reaction is "IM SO SORRY! i thought you knew!" rather than something like "You're pretty hypocritical to get mad over this, seeing as you did it too" Then when Asami revealed it was a joke she seemed very relieved and just happy the bs with Mako didnt come between them. exhibit B: S4E7: i guess she argues a bit more this time, but when Korra doubts Hiroshis intentions and Asami gets actually mad, she's trying to mostly explain herself for being gone, rather than doubling down. 2. Now that same scene from asami's side, I feel like the only reason she really got that mad was BECAUSE she loves and cares for Korra so much that she was really stuggling without having her close by for 3 years. They may have been writing eachother, but thats not really the same thing 3. during S3E2, Korra uses airbending to emberass Mako during their performance seemingly just for the purpose of making Asami laugh, based on her looking for Asami's reaction right after. In general their banter about Mako being awkward is one of my favourite things about early S3 4. Theres a lot of them just hanging out both voluntarily and involuntarily throughout all of season 3, they sit next to eachother at the metal clan dinner table, but they also get so much bonding time being stranded in the desert together. 5. Asami is pretty quick to offer to watch over Korra when she meditates trying to find Zaheer, when she ends up running into Iroh instead. i think it was cute how willing she was to just sit there and wait and guard her. 6. after Korra gets poisoned and paralyzed, I always find it interesting how both her parents are there in republic city at Jinora's ceremony. they've probably been there the entire time after the fight happened. But guess who's dressing Korra, doing her make up, driving the wheelchair... Not her parents. Korra has at this point found some sort of comfort with Asami that apparently supercedes her parents when it comes to being taken care of. Thought it was an interesting writing choice to make it a point that her parents ARE there too. to add onto that, the scene where Asami places her hand on Korra's and tells her she can always confide in her is very sweet. 7. Now for Book 4, in Korra alone, Asami seems to be willing to basically drop her responsibilities at Future industries just to be with Korra at the southpole. responsibilities which we later learn involve reimaginging the city's infrastructure. She seemed prepared for it to take a long time too. 8. Korra refuses, but instead back in republic city here's some of the details of things Asami has done in her absence. - Her car used to be red, now it's Korra's blue. - I know Korra completely deserves that statue in the park named after her, but something tells me it wouldnt have happened if it came just down to Raiko. Now remember the deal Asami struck to work on the city's infrastructure. I also like how she comes back to that park when feeling lonely, before seeking reconnection with her dad. in conclusion: Asami is a YEARNER! 9. Korra only writing to her is cute, but on its own could have been chalked up to being more comfortable with the only other woman in your friendgroup. 10. the compliment and the blush, ofcourse, and Korra came back with "snazzy as always", really creative of her 11. now by far the funniest moment: "I brought you some tea. I thought you might be cold out here", Asami says to the air- and firebender, who grew up in the southpole, and is addicted to wearing tanktops. I see right through your schemes Asami. 12. and finally, during the scene where they sit together at the wedding, and asami confesses just how much losing Korra would have hurt her, the background is actually bisexual! blue, purple pink

Hi, I am Hi.

Yes, exactly, no romantic vibes. Good friends have chemistry too, and I think that is all I saw because they also didn't establish that either of them was bi or hinted at it (and honestly the above examples don't do it for me, just good friends do those things too (unless me and my friends are bi as well and we don't know it 😅)). Maybe a little comment or scene about a previous girlfriend or something from either of them would have made a bit more sense to me, so it wasn't out of nowhere, as I personally see it. (Btw I am just talking about the show, maybe in the novels/comics they go deeper, I personally haven't read them)

James

Yes! People are so dramatic saying its terrible and made the original show worse. It made the original show better imo. They expanded the lore and gave us new perspectives of the avatar and the world. It also makes the series finale with the lion turtles make more sense. It had alot of shoes to fill and it might not have been able to fully reach it, it got pretty close and proves that they can still make more great things in this universe. Im excited for more content! Avatar studios need to give us more info soon !!

funnylilgalreacts

Yes! I think Korra is a great show. Any followup to ATLA was going to get picked at with a fine tooth comb. It's not prefect just like Korra. She took a lot of hits and got up and tried again and that's what sets her apart from Aang.

Mathies

well, sometimes characters only find out about their sexuality when they catch feelings for eachother. im pretty sure thats canon in Asami's case actually. there needs to be no explanation for them being bi, there needs to be no previous indication. as maybe they didnt even know yet as characters. I think theres enough hints that they have feelings to eachother to make it believable. a lot of these are things that if it were a boy and a girl, it would have been clear where it was going by the end of season 3.

Hi, I am Hi.

Of course there is no need for an explanation, there is no need to explain why some people love other people. However, in story telling, there kinda needs to be some indications. That is the point of story telling, can't have something come out of nowhere when you are telling a story. Well I guess you can, but it isn't well received. Whether there was enough indication is something we can disagree about. Also I am not saying its not believable or possible for them to have a romantic relationship, I just don't think it was there at the time.

rowan

Thank you (and thanks to the editors!) for your reactions to ATLA and TLOK, I'm crying over these ending like you are for the series LOL. I've gone through some of the hardest times in my life and your reactions to this universe (well, Blue Eye Samurai too, but specifically the Avatar verse) has helped me so much more than I can put into words. Truly, thank you again, and I'm looking forward to more of your reactions, especially as you start going deeper into anime!

Hi, I am Hi.

Oh sorry, forgot about your other point, "if it were a boy and a girl". Well you can change Mako into a girl in the show and nobody would say it came out of nowhere. Because they clearly show that she is interested in Mako romantically and they also indicated that she isn't interested in Bolin romantically. (And as you said, maybe the characters themselves didn't know, but in that case you can't blame the viewers for saying it came out of nowhere, so it comes down to story telling) Also I kinda don't like that films don't show enough strong friendships between a boy and a girl that doesn't end up romantically. So, I would, personally, say something if it was "a boy and a girl" too.

Rester

I'm a little late to this, so I don't know if you're still reading comments, but if you are, prepare for an essay in several points: 1) One of the reasons I do love this series, even if it is a little messy in parts, is that they do still maintain thematic throughlines. Highlighting the difference between intention and method, Korra is forced to reckon with the fact that all of her antagonists did want things that were arguably good: equality, spirituality, freedom, order. Just because they were villains didn't mean they were wrong - just how they went about it. This season, and this series, ends with Wu planning to dissolve the Earth Kingdom into independent states. Amon's Equalists fought against bending supremacy, which was very much in place in a world where the four nations were defined by bending power - but if the other nations follow Wu's example, then we reach a world with true bender/non-bender equality, where nations are not defined by bending. The final, greatest act of this series, and Korra's last pledge on screen, is to achieve what her first major antagonist tried to do, but in a good way instead of by violence. 2) A powerful bender, once on the side of good, former ally of the Avatar, who is set on bringing the prosperity of their home nation to the world: Kuvira, and also Sozin. This series doesn't just compare how Korra handles things against how Aang did, but also Roku. 3) As a gay fella in his early thirties, it would be remiss of me not to highlight the importance this show holds in the history of queer representation in western animation. I won't put any spoilers for other shows here, but after this aired, a different animated kid's show got a same-sex kiss between major characters in their finale, then another show got a same-sex wedding between major characters in their final season, then another show got same-sex protagonists and characters throughout their entire run. They may only have been able to get away with hinting at it in the show (enjoy the books), but Korra really walked so the others could run. Or Korra crawled, so the next could walk, so the others could run. Or Korra rolled over for the first time while Dad was messing with the video camera and missed the whole thing, while the others crawled, walked, and ran. Point is, it was a much more significant moment in gay media history than it perhaps gets credit for. 4) It's truly wild that Varrick's arc runs through so much of the show. Ally/villain/ally/villain/ally - always irritating and loveable at once, a man in constant flux in every way and yet somehow always consistent in characterisation. It was always fun to watch your reactions to him. And you picked up on his first name: Iknik - just a reminder to the audience that he is, at the end of the day, a Southern Water Tribe member, just like Korra. And his and Zhu Li's story don't end here either, not by a long shot. (Enjoy the books again)

TheDarkPower

are you watching the owl house next it will be an amazing journey 🥰

Katelyn Halt

Don't forget about Avatar Studios!! It is not the end!!!! Gosh you're making me tear bend. In October 2025 we will be getting a new animated adult Aang movie!!! And also the next Avatar after Korra!!!

Aaron Jones

If you want more Korrasami, definitely read Turf Wars. It picks up where the show left off with their relationship and vacation in the spirit world

TheDarkPower

it was the 3rd in the poll but i hope she watches it i think she would love everything about it

Gabriel Barott

I think Korra's character concluded nicely, but there were a bit more valleys than hills for me over the course of the show with her. Personally, I thought Korra's love triangle shenanigans were so boring and I almost always skip through those portions of the show when I watch reactions for it. Also, sometimes it felt as though her dialogue was forced or lacking in organic emotion. This is not to say that characters don't deserve to have growth, but it felt more like lack luster writing than just the writing of a character that needs to become more mature. The only time I felt a realistic payoff was when she confronted Zaheer and faced her trauma. S3 and S4 are definitely the better seasons for her character imo.

Arman

Angela, it really feels like time flew right by. Can’t believe your awesome ATLA and LOK reviews are complete. You’re officially all caught up with us now! I thoroughly enjoyed watching your reactions and it gives me great joy that we share a number of similar views on how LOK panned out. Ultimately, as you said, it wasn’t Mike and Bryan’s fault but rather the budget cuts that severely impacted the potential of the ATLA sequel. I think ATLA or LOK would make for a great video game if the right company were to do it. Looking forward to seeing how the Avatar world develops in the coming years.

tarrsk

If you haven't already, there's a wonderful episode of the podcast "Song Exploder" that does a deep dive into the closing music of the finale with composer Jeremy Zuckerman. He knew from the outset that he was tasked with scoring the beginning of the first queer canon relationship in American children's animation, and he took the task appropriately seriously. And boy did it pay off, just a gorgeous piece of music.

Mathies

lmfao yes they would. especially mako and Asami's relationship?? but even still with Korra and Mako. they litterally had less build up than korrasami. You're very much incorrect to think they wouldnt say it came out of nowhere.

Hi, I am Hi.

You can have all the build up in the world, but if you don't show romantic interest, most people will view them as just friends.
