Note: The house that Agatha lives in here is the same house that Samantha Stevens lived in for all of the 60's Bewitched TV show. I yelled when I noticed that. So, have fun. P.S. this show was given a very negative review by the infamously harebrained & misogynistic “Critical Drinker” on youtube, so I expect a largely fun & inoffensive experience! 😁 episode 1 is already a cool premise and Aubrey is perfect as Rio

"What is grief if not love persevering..." Perhaps the single most wonderful, deep, hurtful, and hopeful line in all the MCU. And a good deal beyond. Beyond that... I found this series to be wonderful. And I also had to watch it a couple of times there were so many nuanced lines and performances. Agatha is, in my mind, one of the best anti-heroes that I have ever watched. This show is definitely a gem in MCU television! Also... happy posty wedding and Christmas! I hope that your end-year was perfect!

tbh it's more about the subtext - he almost exclusively targets harmless & inconsequential shows & movies with female protagonists to mercilessly pick apart in the spirit of "exposing woke culture". sometimes this even comes at the expense of him not understanding the source material at all (like when he claimed the She-Hulk show "ruined the character", despite it being 100% faithful to her comic persona). I think he's trying to go for the "female characters without flaws are a problem" stance, which is absolutely true - but he misses the mark a lot. I personally don't mind seeing inherent bravery, intelligence & physical aptitude in a female character. to me, the character is only a "Mary Sue" if her conflict is never shown to the audience. I always use Toph Beifong and Suki from ATLA as an example, because they're both strong female characters in opposite ways. Suki embodies the idea that strength & femininity aren't mutually exclusive ("I am a warrior, but i'm a girl too"), but Toph absolutely rejects conventional femininity. I feel like if Toph were written as a character today, people would be saying "she's too one-dimensional" or "where's her grueling character arc?". both archetypes are possible, but Critical Drinker seems to think that a face value, rough-&-tough female character who's good at things is "too unrealistic" or "not interesting". idk, I just think a lot of his criticisms are very vapid and surface-level. plus, audiences are already conditioned to be hyper-aware of being "emotionally manipulated" (i.e. when everyone complained about the female form-up scene in Avengers Endgame), so whenever he complains it just feels like a big echo chamber / watering hole for other people who are for some also reason wrestling with being emotionally manipulated by movies & TV made for people under 18 that happen to feature "unrealistic" female characters (in unrealistic worlds, no less)

But he has also praised shows like Arcane, movies like Prey and has written very strong female characters in his own novels. Yeah I get how he can come off as you suggested.. and I don’t always agree with him, but he mostly talks about how the focus is more on these certain aspects than the story itself while it has had a tendency to water down the stories where as a good story would have balanced characters showing both their strong and weak sides. I agree that he misses the mark at times, but he also hits it on the head.. I just feel that people who disagrees with him use too many labels in these situations, but that’s just my 2 cents.
