I think they never really said that gon had sharp ears cmiiw. i mean he could distinguish sound like with the pre hunter exam beast. he got sharp eye and nose.. i think thats about it (for yall complainin in the egg thing in hunter exam, i think he felt the wind not heard it, still cmiiw)

The point that should've have heard the conversation is overhyping Gon's hearing ability. Do you realize how hard it is to listen to a phone inside a pocket? The Narrator made sure to highlight that Pitou was only able to hear the conversation because of her chimera ant-cat hearing. While Gon has really sharp senses for a human, he is not on the level of Pitou. Vibration is also hard to pickup inside a pocket of a person walking feets apart from you.
