Agreed! Very nicely put. But you better believe that when that sad music starts up, they immediately switch to "AWW" mode (see Inosuke's short flashback). It seems... disingenuous? I left a comment like this and I'm sure everyone thinks we're being uptight party-poopers, but I don't think it's asking too much for them to meet the show on its level, rather than constantly being flippant about it.

So which exact part is bothering you so much? Isn't this supposed to be a funny show or am I getting it wrong? Would like to see how your reactions would look like. Some people are bothered but if they had a straight face the entire show everyone would complain.
