These few episodes were a bit anticlimactic to watch as they were premiering as well but its also really funny. LNs have a different pacing structure than manga have a different pacing structure than anime. I find that slime has a really good structure of ebb and flow, the setup and the payoff, and its demonstrated by you two (understandably so) not enjoying ramiris' episodes last season and not remembering beretta thus spending a chunk of the discussion speculating on a friendly lol the show definitely should have done something to show beretta arrive to help remind viewers though I love this show and I'm defiinitely looking forward to more though! Once the payoff starts happening hopefully it will make these episodes make more sense.

Beretta is a character that highlights the pros/cons of this show’s character building. She’s a terrible and powerful demon who is recognized as talented by the upper echelons of the underworld but she’s also literally a background character that the anime will only speak about in vague terms because she’s Ramiris’ butler (a supporting character’s supporting character) and therefore has very few opportunities to act in the plot. That’s why she shows up out of nowhere and then sits by Veldora. Her only concern during that summit was protecting the unconscious pixie

The character you were confused about is explained in a 5 sec scene in season 1, so no wonder you forgot about it.

Politics is my favorite part of the episode hahaha, relevant or not. I lose my interest when leaders say "okay, let's be friends. Who cares about our mutual benefits and overall political landscape". But I understand your argument because the pacing becomes extremely slow. As for the person standing there, it's a character from season one, Ramiri's companion.

For Beretta's appearance as a demon (aka before fusing with the doll-like mmagisteel body made by Rimuru), you can see it fully in the first opening of season 2. Here's the watch part of the youtube link to the opening in question, on Crunchyroll's youtube channel: watch?v=XQqQqK9ufo8 Seen in the opening from 0:55 to 1:04. Beretta is the demon summoned by Rimuru for Ramiris. Beretta has the same clothes, same black hair and same black eyes with golden pupils as Diablo when Diablo was summoned by Rimuru. Demons in this world don't have specific genders. Beretta used to appear as male, but changed how he appears (in this case only with the voice due to the doll body not showing gender) to feel more female-like because Beretta felt it to be more appropriate as a servant of Ramiris. Black Colored Demons in this world are ALL very eccentric and obsessed with being the epitome of anything they feel passionate about. They also don't seek power for themselves much. In other words, Diablo/Noir and Beretta have both actually spent centuries mastering how to be the perfect bulter/maid/servant/etc. just because they felt like it.

The funny thing about Ramiris saying that she could one-punch KO Veldora back in the days is that it's true. In her adult form, Ramiris is actually that overwhelmingly powerful.

Something often misunderstood (which you guys seem to also misunderstand) is the difference between the demon lore evolutions. There are actually TWO demon lord evolution stages. 1) "normal" Demon Lord (also known as Demon Lord Seed stage) - It's the most common one and it doesn't require 10 thousand souls. - It can be achieved as from reaching a certain amount of power AND from fulfilling a certain set of conditions. - We have seen a case of this evolution in the anime with the Ord Lord when it evolved into the Demon Lord Orc Disaster. - This evolution is what creates the Demon Lord Seed within an individual. - Simply having a Demon Lord Seed makes you a normal Demon Lord. - Rimuru reached this stage, but in his case he did so through an exception. That is to say that he devoured and absorbed the newly evolved Demon Lord Orc Disaster and through that gained the Demon Lord Seed of Orc Disaster. - Clayman, Frey and Carrion are at this Demon Lord stage. 2) Awakened/True Demon Lord (the demon lord seed having sprouted from the nourishment of the sacrificed souls) - This is the one that require 10 thousand souls. - Having a Demon Lord Seed, aka already having had the normal Demon Lord evolution, is a prerequisite to be eligible for this evolution. You need to fulfill that prerequisite in order for it to work. You can't just collect 10 thousand souls. It won't work if you're not already a Demon Lord from the point of view of the System of the World. - Out of the demon lords seen in the series so far, only Milim and Rimuru are at that stage. Ramiris is an exception in that she isn't actually a Demon Lord in that way. She has the title, but not the evolution. - This Demon Lord stage is overwhelmingly more powerful than the Demon Lord Seed stage.

yeah the meeting seems to have been extended for anime sake but in the manga it was pretty concise so it did suck watching the part

Whether or not that is true (in actual LN canon) or is something I am doubtful about, yes she is one of the oldest Demon Lords and a True Demon Lord and Veldora was young and inexperienced back then just letting his power rampage without any skill or tactics involved. Nevertheless he was still one of only 4 True Dragons in existence, the most powerful species. Fighting and defeating him would be one thing, she has some pretty broken abilities even now, but doing so in a single punch is a whole different level.

Except the Manga is not the source material. The anime simply skipped less than the manga, it was even more detailed in the Light Novel. Politics and the Micro and Macro management of Tempest are usually at least half of a volume of the LN.

Sancturillore -- Élie Simard-Wallot

Alright, that is fair. Though she is still up there with Guy and Milim in terms of actual combat power in her adult form. That is more so what I meant, but you're right that it wouldn't just be "one punch." Though, in terms of "being the most powerful species," there are two other beings who are about as powerful in terms of species, and one of the two is the one and only Spirit Queen, who also happens to be the only other actual deity-like being in that world at the same level as the True Dragons.

These few episodes were painful when they were coming out for sure. They just dragged on so much and really slowed the pacing down. There's good stuff still ahead, but this lull is way overextended.

The boring episodes are basically over be ready for some much higher quality episodes.
