Things are getting pretty crazy now. Click here to watchalong with me!

It's giving "building to a season finale" vibes, except we're not even halfway through the season. 💃

Looking forward to your comments! Thanks for watching.

The episode title Closure has been Ward motivation this season but this episode is all about The team and their relationships with Ward's past. May and Ward were the mostly physical relationship with no real emotional vulnerability shared between them (At least on Ward side.) May actually started to be emotionally vulnerable with him in season 1 if you look back on it. With Simmons it was more a one sided attraction that Ward used to gain her trust after saving her in 1x6. Simmons definitely has a type. Men who risk their lives for her. So her attraction to Will and Fitz makes more sense now as well. Fitz was a replacement for his little brother in his life which is why their bond in 1x7 felt so real. Sadly it was really Ward trying to fill a hole that he made in his past. We get the Full story of the Well. Ward pushed Thomas down the well and of course whether or not Christian told him to do it doesn't matter. (Christian did admit to telling him to do it) But the fact that he did when Thomas trusted him enough to consider him his best friend is really messed up. Of course Coulson was probably the father figure for Ward like Garrett was and we see that constant need for Ward to be the hero has made him a soldier for Malick too. Be Hydra hero. Fucking Idiot. He didn't even believe in Hydra. Even though he keeps trying to be a leader that need literally brought him back to being a soldier following orders. (He is literally wearing a soldier uniform.)

Such a great episode as it finishes in a completely different place than when it started and without feeling forced! Like you said, this episode feels more like a pre season finale episode than a mid season episode and that in no small part is a credit to the writing staff. I love how we started this season with several seemingly seperate stories which over the course of only 9 episodes have blended into one storyline. The way that we were introduced to the ATCU in episode one where we hate them, and then to be intrigued and mistrust them, only to find that we like them (particularly Ros) in such a short amount of time was crazy. And then both Ros and Banks are taken from us in little under half an episode is cruel! (Loved your "I really like these two" and "Bank will fit into this team" comments, directly before they are both killed.) And then there is Ward! If we didn't hate him enough by this episode, he murders Rosalind and then lets Jemma be torture before finally hurting her himself! Looking forward to your next reaction.

That opening. That middle. That skydive at the end...love this motherfucking show. Can't wait for next episode.

Forgot to mention how we have Fitz and Coulson both Jump into the Portal. Fitz did it at the start of the season to save someone and he does it here for the same reason but Coulson does it purely for revenge with much more at risk. Two different mindsets. Both for the women they cared about.

So, you said you like Raina and she died, then you say you like Rosalind and she dies, then say you like Banks and he dies - I think I'm sensing a pattern... 🤔 Rosalind's death is definitely sudden, but it does make sense - there are (differing) reasons that both Malick and Ward would want to kill her. The one benefit to Rosalind's death? We get to see just how capable Coulson is - it's quite rare for him to be in a fight like this, so getting a sequence that shows off his skills is (almost) a treat. I love the music in AoS - Bear McCreary is a superb composer, and having a full orchestra (very much a rarity) for every episode just elevates it. Note the subtle change to the title card to underscore what just happened - the usual 'drone' sound (can't think how else to describe it) is missing - and then the use of Rosalind's/the ATCU's theme when Coulson picks up the matches in his office... OOU, they only had Constance Zimmer available for the first half of the season, so there wasn't a chance of her becoming a regular.

When Coulson said that Roz was being a little harsh for saying she was an idiot for not realizing she was working for HYDRA, I didn't think it was because he liked her, it was because he was in the same position with SHIELD/HYDRA and that was going on for decades. HYDRA's sneaky.

I'm so sad Rosalind died. She was a really great character and Constance Zimmer is awesome! The show is speeding up even more than it already had. They just keep "doing the thing" rather than stretching these storylines out, which is so much fun! I continue to have a blast with your reactions, and your predictions at the end of this episode. 😊

The writers here are great, I really enjoy how these seasons are paced. I'm glad you enjoyed that moment. I am def gonna miss Ros and Banks.

Constance Zimmer is fab, really loved her as Ros. I'm glad you're having a great time!

Giving Coulson props for the baller move of jumping and diving through the portal 10.0 score, but he didn't stick that landing so 0.0 on that. Lol I'm slow on commenting due to work, seems most tings are covered but all I know is I wouldnt want to be on Coulson's bad side when he's motivated .
