UPDATE:

Congrats to this months winner: Ian A who picked "The Intouchables (2011)".

------------------

Hey guys! I'm going to do a quick LIVE for the the pick-a-flick draw! If you're not familiar, this is a new perk of the Kernel Club and up tier where members get to submit a movie each month for me to potentially watch and each month I randomly draw one! This will be quick, and you can find the live here:

Pick-A-Flick Draw

Rosario Cicero

Come on 2001: A Space Odyssey!!!

Jeff Lunan

A walk in the clouds. A Keanu Reeves romcom

Randy Schuh

The Phantom of the Opera (2004)

Farmer Jayy

The Judge 2014

Kristin D

This is a lovely movie. Not sure it's a comedy, but Cassie would still love it. It checks so many boxes that make her happy.

Tim C

Charade is worth a Watch. Audrea Heburn and Cary Grant and a younger Walter Mathew.

Robert N Douglass

Alright, no more of this "Scary but Not Too Scary" business, I'm recommending EVENT HORIZON for the mighty Captain Cassie

John

Taken!

Uncle Phoenix

The Man From Snowy River (1982)

cfb0453

Raising Arizona!!!

Doc Larry

I found out today that Patrick Stewart was in the 1984 adaptation of Dune

Murph3194

Guardians of the Galaxy!!!

Vishnu

Princess Mononoke!

Mannygogou

Rules refinement... 1. If the movie is invalid - have to spin again (the spin is for the movie to win, not for the person šŸ™‚) - In this instance the movie Gone Girl actually won!, so that's good... but it was nixed... therefore a new movie gets a chance in a re-spin. Gone Girl in fact did-not-lose... it won... 2. Similar to that, if 15 people suggested the same movie and it wins - the person who won the spin is the winner! Not really a refinement, this was always the case. The other 14 can continue to play... 3. if Cassie wants to spin for a 2nd movie to watch, I don't mind šŸ˜„

MrDannySteele

That one is good, but she should watch ā€œThe Curse of Frankensteinā€ because the two stars Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing met on this film after Lee, who was playing the monster, stormed into Cushing's dressing room, complaining that "I've got no lines!" Cushing kindly responded, "You're lucky. I've read the script."

Murph3194

She hasn't made a video of it. I guess she only does first time watches which is authentic. Some reactors will post multiple "1st time reacting to" videos.

Mike Lemon

Wait... Neither my name nor my pick showed in the list, and I went frame by frame when she scrolled down and up.

Mark Vaderr

Yeah, I wish we could've gotten a 24 hour notice about this being a LIVE event.

Clay F

507 entries

Mark Vaderr

Love this movie, and I believe Cassie will watch this movie some time this year.

Murph3194

Tropic Thunder! The girls would flip out for the cast.

Eddie Perkins

Who is that fasecp guy that doesn't do his homework? šŸ™„

MrDannySteele

You are right HoD started the Dracula series starring Lee and really started Lee career. Lee was the only actor to do Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Classic Horror film, and a James Bond Film

Mark Vaderr

Are you going to make it a LIVE event for every pick of the month? Also, Cassie, when are you and Carly going to start watching the Planet of the Apes movies?

Rene G.

ClockWork Orange, REC, The Descent 1983 Cujo, 1989 Pet Sematary, Sleepwalkers

MrDannySteele

That one has an interesting story behind it because Grant requested that the roles in the romance be switched to Hepburn character chasing the much older Grant character which was unique for the time.

Grinznmore

Dirt Rotten Scoundrels. Steve Martin and Michael Cain.

Nolofinwe

, the Intouchables oh my God , give me a break. You Need veto power when the movie is stinky . Lol

Clay F

I saw many movies that I like on the list. I saw my name/entry. I saw THE EXORCIST (1973), which I don't think she will react to that. I saw The Apartment (1960), which she has already reacted to.

Clay F

Gone Girl (2014) does not appear to be on Cassie's Letterbox watched list, so maybe wasn't the patron's fault. I do see that movie shown as "seen" at popcornrequests.com

Mannygogou

Strictly Ballroom

Clay F

I am definitely looking forward to her reactions to Planet of the Apes movies.

Mike Lemon

Oh good. That must have been when the video skipped a bit when I was looking originally (it did it three times). Thanks. edit- That was during the shuffle, not the scrolling, so I hope that means I'm not going more crazy and it just didn't show during the scrolling.

Anthony Oberhauser

Did she say sheā€™s going to watch Conspiracy Theory with Mel Gibson? That one also has Julia Roberts and her old man crush Patrick Stewart in a very different type of character role. I think she would really enjoy that movie. Hopefully it will pop-up on the list soon.

Chris Thom

Gone Girl with Carly

Chris Thom

I think she saw it fairly recently. Didn't know until one of the mods mentioned it six months ago.

Eddie Perkins

I looked and didn't see it, or I wouldn't have asked for it. Unless ther is another fastecp, I should get another pick, right? šŸ¤·

Chris Thom

Oh it was your pick? Bummer because that would've been a really good one. Still think she should do it if Carly hasn't seen it yet. Was pushing for that for like a year.

V M

Dang, I was sure I was gonna win. :P Congrats.

2-Can

I am going to change my suggestion this time around. Instead of submitting The Court Jester (1955), Iā€™m going to request Star Trek: The Court Jester (1955). Consider it a prequel. You are all invited to do the same.

V M

I slowed down the video so I could see everyone's picks :P Jeff: she's already seen The Sting. It's here on the channel. +1 to BWood and DWG15 for their pick :P

Deidre

Ordinary People, Princess Mononoke, and CODA (2021)

Lewis Creech

Josie and the Pussycats (2001)

fire12wife

Bad Girls (1994) This is a western with a 4 woman lead! It stars Madeleine Stowe, Mary Stuart Masterson, Andie MacDowell, and a gorgeous 18-year-old Drew Barrymore!

Chris Thom

Drew did a fun reunion for that on her talk show if you didn't see it. Sweet show. Think it was six or seven months ago.

Anthony Carlson

Off topic: GO LIONS!!! šŸ¦ šŸˆšŸ†

Vlad D

The Book of Eli. 2010 with Denzel Washington

Clay F

Yes. Full reaction posted Dec 2021. One of my favorite black/white movies

V M

When someone submits a movie thats already been watched, he/she should have the chance to submit a new movie. fastecp should get another pick.

V M

The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain

V M

The Phantom of the Opera - 1925 :P Lon Chaney

Randy Schuh

No. The 2004 version. It's a musical/romance and the number one play ever on Broadway

Chris Thom

Yeah he was really cute with her. They all were. She's been really lucky to have supportive people around in the business.

420gunnyinc .

I think Cassie would love the Short Circuit movies with that loveable robot Johnny 5

fire12wife

I'm sure it's one of the biggest reasons she has made it to where she's at and didn't become another child star statistic!

Chris Thom

Was just yesterday watching a vid about Astoria, Oregon filming locations.

Chris Thom

I know I didn't see it either. Was really bummed about it. I think I submitted Spielberg/Kubrick AI: Artificial Intelligence. May have also been Lost in Translation.

Joel Wayne

I wish someone would do Operation Petticoat - 1959 Cary Grant & Tony Curtis

V M

I'll never win this thing

Clay F

1 in 500 is not very good odds. But for me (and this is just me), I will view it as a win for me if one of the movies on the list I like wins. There are many movies on the wheel I like.

V M

I didn't see a lot of movies I liked but there were a few

Gray

Message her you should get to pick another film, i mean techically you won it was letterbox fault for not having it on there.

Clarence Newman

Oh no. I forgot about the sex scene in Officer and a Gentleman. That's me on Cassie's nope list. Then again, she needs to limber up for Game of Thrones.

Shawn Kildal

Guardian of the Galaxy Christmas Special?? Plus, there are several movies listed that Cassie has seen. Someone had Pride and Prejudice (2005). She's seen that a few dozen times.

rakesh

I still think she should pick a couple and save the reactions for emergencies when she's unable to release videos due to emergencies or holidays. Stacking 20 or so movies would give her a month's leeway. And everytime she needs to use one, she can replace it with a new movie slowly dripping feeding it out as needs require.

Shawn Kildal

Gone Girl (2014) is listed on her Letterboxd. It's right next to John Wick.

Shawn Kildal

Gone Girl (2014) is indeed on her Letterboxd list. It's right next to John Wick.

Grad

Congrats to Ian

shireknight

Wait Cassie, so you are saying that even though I was a Kernel member when I made my pick, because I wasn't when you made the draw my pick was removed? I'm sorry but that just doesn't seem fair to me. I paid my $10 and I obviously would have had to sign up again in order to watch your reaction to my choice if it had won, but now you're saying I have to pay you a minimum of $20 just to ensure my choice is even included in the draw? That's just wrong on every level. When you said originally your pick would be removed if you are no longer a Kernel member I took it to mean that for as long as you are a kernel member your pick rolls over from draw to draw but if you unsubscribe then your pick would be removed from the following months draw list not the current one.

Happy Hanukkah

[Spoilers in links for Deadpool and Wolverine, Pride and Prejudice. No actual spoilers for Good Will Hunting.] Apropos Pride and Prejudice, when watching Deadpool and Wolverine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_Ku2zjjvDk&t=3098s I was most disappointed we did not have Paradox yelling: "F---! He stole my line!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFsgLhx9dxg&t=84s :-)

Jeff

OK, it took me a bit but I did see my entry, One Fine Day, did make it on the list but obviously didnā€™t win this month. I think Cassie would really love it but Iā€™m going to choose a different movie for the next drawing.

Mike LL

Been asking for years for Planet of the Apes 1968. Talked with her about it in the Discord. This should be the time. But I thought it was the time when she put up the poll on Youtube and the Apes lost to the X-Men.

Mike LL

Stop asking for those nudie flicks, CT! /j šŸ˜

Mike LL

Yes I stopped getting Patreon phone notifications on my iphone about 2 weeks ago. Tried to fix it but no luck. I would have watched the live if I had gotten a notice, I was watching a random YouTube video at the time.

MrDannySteele

The 1925 version was a OG horror movie. Lon Chaney Sr was a master at his craft and he went through a ton of discomfort with all the make up.

Neighbourhood Watch Alliance

You need to be a current member when the draw is made. She only announced the new feature a month ago so if your membership has expired then you signed up before you knew it was going to be a thing anyway

Stewart Menzies

Have you seen Van Helsing (2004) with Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale? Helsing battles against the infamous Count Dracula and his bride's. You and Carly should definitely watch that together. Spectacular movie.

shireknight

You're right, I'm not trying to say I signed up just for this perk and now I feel robbed, I'm saying that it's not fair that I was invited to submit a film for the draw because I was a member and then when the draw is made my submission is removed just because I didn't want to commit to a rolling subscription plan.

Daniel Karlsson

"You can check out my Letterboxd page to see what movies I've seen. It's not 100% complete, so if you're chosen, and I've seen the movie you requested, I will have you choose another one for me." This should probably be removed from the rules or let the first winner pick a new movie.

Alex Gorell

Anyone have the link to the next months draw?

Clay F

I missed it on her Letterbox. I sorted by title.

crazyivan

Great movie, but the rock/pop soundtrack (produced by Alan Parson) was a bit distracting. I saw it again last month (after about 20 years) and it still holds up.

Matt Rose

you are going to love THE INTOUCHABLES. Wonderful film. The American remake ain't bad either (THE UPSIDE).

crazyivan

You really think people won't get butt hurt by Fisher Stevens 'Indian' accent in Short Circuit? I laughed my a$$ off in 1986, but this ain't 1986 anymore.

crazyivan

Has me leaning toward dropping out for a few months to see if her selections get any better than the recent ones (not a knock on Cassie, but YT and Patreon)...and if more series are watched, I'll probably look elsewhere for movie reactions - or just watch them myself and ignore YT and Patreon. I'm old enough not to get worked up over someone else's reaction to some of my favorite movies...and as we used to say - "there's no accounting for taste".

JAKH

If you are watching "Gladiator", then I would suggest also watching the more historically accurate (and also about the reign of Commodus after the death of Marcus Aurelius): "Fall of the Roman Empire" (1964) starring Sophia Loren, Alec Guiness, Christopher Plummer, & Omar Sharif

Byrd N. Hand

Well, I presume you were laughing because the character is funny, not because it's a white guy playing an Indian... Why do people still think accents and dialects have anything to do with race and not with the region of the world that one was born and/or lives and the language they primarily grew up speaking as a result? šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø It's the same damn principle as Peter Sellers' Inspector Clouseau, yet few people (if any) find that offensive -- presumably because the French are also white. šŸ™„

420gunnyinc .

If people get offended at a simple dumb accent then their too thin skin to have a valued opinion. Both of the Short Circuit movies are great classics.

Cole Jennett

Why wouldnā€™t you use the name Eddie Perkins when you submitted? Just wondering?

rakesh

i've good things about this movie, we havent watched a foregign film in a while, so i'm up for it. Congrats Ian A

Cole Jennett

She has seen it, but if Iā€™m not mistaken Carly has not, so itā€™s possible

Joe

@shireknight, I agree 100%. If we can submit a film, it should always be included for that particular month's drawing. She needs to correct that.

Joe

Cassie doesn't seem to have any extra time during a week to watch additional films. I think most patrons understand reduced schedules during holidays and emergencies. Just not a big deal.

Joe

Curious if it will get a YT edit. I don't watch full-lengths.

Cassie Tremblay

Gone Girl is on the LB, but I'll still make sure it's up to date this week. And yes I'll reach out to the first winner and get his new pick as well!

Cassie Tremblay

You're right! We are going to adjust the rules. If you were a patron at the time of submission you will be included in the draw between the 1-5th of the next month. We'll also go back and make sure that everyone who was left out of the draw last night because of that rule has their pick put back in for next month. Sorry about that! It's our first one and we're still working out all the kinks.

Cassie Tremblay

Eddie! It is on my Letterboxd, but I'll still give you a chance to choose a movie since technically you wonšŸ™‚. If you can email your pick to cassie@popcorninbed.com that would be easiest!

Clay F

Good point about Game of Thrones. Starts in S1E1

TheSingulatarian

You are spoiling us my dear. Keeping things in short supply is a better marketing strategy.

shireknight

Thank you Cassie, I really appreciate that. I've been watching your videos for about a year now and I feel like I've got to know your personality quite well so I was really surprised when you said that at the start of last night's video. I'm glad it was just a mistake and it's now been fixed :-)

Ian A

Heck ya! Thanks Cassie!! Sorry I missed the pick live. I hope everyone likes it.

Clarence Newman

Please let her pick Horror of Dracula. It will make Officer and a Gentleman look like the rom-com she wanted it to be!

V M

Figured you would let them pick another movie.

Joe

I think the long-term viability of PAF will come down to how many of the winning movies can make it to YT.

Clarence Newman

Yes, but it was called "Wagon Train". Roddenberry always said that Star Trek was "Wagon Train to the stars."

Chris Thom

I'm sure she'll repost it every month. Too hard to go back looking for it.

Clarence Newman

Just scanned for an answer to that, Alex. I don't see one. I assume Cassie will drop a post like she did last time and we can click the link on that.

Chris Thom

She said she saw the remake so she'll know a little bit going in about the premise. I haven't seen either, but have heard they're good.

Mike Lemon

This is the link that was posted in chat during the pick- https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdP37Lq-zFbBWHRuRPNMmZwW4iMBQjgHPbObtBtaiSp5YKaGQ/viewform She also said she would make a new post today.

V M

I was hoping "I'll never win this thing" would get a like from Cassie. How awesome would thatve been? Cassie be like "Yeah, youre probably right" :P :(

V M

BWood's and DWG15's pick is gonna be my pick in 2 months. An actual masterpiece and classic, not a fake one

Eddie Perkins

I couldn't find it, even after looking in the tags and by date. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. Please copy-paste and post it to me if you get a chance . I think you would like Conspiracy Theory (1997), which would make me happy.

Cole Jennett

My guess is she finds it odd that you have a picture of her as your profile picšŸ˜‚

Jeff

Something Iā€™m not sure of about the Pick-a Flick process but Iā€™m sure others know. Where does Cassie access the movie to watch it? If my movie is selected, do I send her a DVD?

Chris Thom

No you don't ever have to send a DVD. Some people send them as gifts, but it's not required, and I also don't think that it guarantees she'll watch it on the channel. Pretty sure she mostly streams from Prime, Netflix, Hulu etc. and rents some from On Demand or wherever. Or maybe even YouTube.

Chris Thom

Oh my bad it was Underworld that she watched this year. She's debated watching Van Helsing on the channel every year.

Rose

Cassie - Nicole Kidmanā€™s Golden Globe dress was pretty and sparkly but has nothing on Ginger Rogersā€™ famous beaded gown (that weighed almost 25 pds) in her dance scene with Fred Astaire in ā€œLetā€™s Face the Music and Danceā€ from the movie ā€œFollow the Fleetā€ (1936). The dress affected her performance - and the hem of the weighted sleeve slapped Astaire in the face - he finished the dance in a daze but they were total pros. Ginger Rogersā€™ influence on fashion designers is sweeping (from the 1930s to present). She had incredible style.

Eddie Perkins

She said she would give me another chance, and I asked for Conspiracy Theory, so maybe it will be coming soon.

Chris Thom

I think less is more when it comes to promises made on the channel. Can be overwhelming, I'd assume.

Chris Thom

Game of Thrones would be such a giant commitment. Not really about whether it's good or bad...but really hope she doesn't watch it on the channel.

Chris Thom

Oh interesting. Granted I don't know much about Roddenberry, but I didn't think a frontier show would be his thing.

Aaron Mann

Most movies you can stream online. Either included in your subscription (Amazon, Paramount, Peacock, Netflix, etc) or you can also rent it from a streaming service (Amazon Video, Fandango at Home, and others). So no need to send her a DVD.

Aaron Mann

Agree. I'm a huge GoT fan but even I wouldn't want to see 8 seasons of a show on the channel.

Mark Vaderr

Cassie has repeated a few times that Planet of the Apes was coming after X-Men. She just hasn't set an official date.

Clarence Newman

@Neighbourhood. I'm not sure anyone has. The only reason it's been discussed lately is because Cassie said she might watch it on a recent live.

rakesh

I also think the vast majority of patrons will understand. However, it's not just about that. This ultimately is a business from which Cassie and Ben generate their income. The YouTube algorithm rewards constant, regular uploads. I'm not saying it's going to kill their business by hypothetically being offline for a couple of weeks, but not having to deal with that and communications from people who may complain or have no idea why there is a break will be alleviated. It also relieves any self-imposed pressure they may feel to make sure everything is running. Like I said, it's for emergencies, like dipping into your savings or buying insurance. You probably won't need to use it, but you'll be happy you did if you do need to. Beacuse S#1t happens.

Steven And Chloe Oddi

Macfarland USA as your a Kevin Costner from The Oddi's Happy New Year to you!

JAKH

Both the movie and series "Spartacus" are about the 3rd Servile War (aka the "Spartacan Revolt") of 73BC - 71BC, while the movies "Gladiator" and "Fall of the Roman Empire" are about the end of the reign of Marcus Aurelius and the solo reign of his son and successor Commodus 180-192AD. 2 different eras and very different stories.

Stewart Menzies

You're right it was Underworld she watched. I think she would like Van Helsing. Mentioning Underworld I don't think she's watched the sequel yet, has she?
