This was so great! Not what I was expecting and pretty mind trippy! It was mysterious and gripping and heart warming—I’m loving all the suspense movies lately!!

Alright ! Alright ! Alright ! 😊🍿

I love that it doesn't take the father and son half the movie to figure out they are talking to each other 30 years apart.

Mark T

I haven't seen this movie in many years, I remember I enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to watching your reaction tomorrow.

Rose

One of my favorite movies!! I’m so happy that you guys ended up reacting to it and enjoyed. Jim Caviezel is a sweetheart. My cousin’s wife is a TV producer from the Philippines and when she was at the Wild Card Boxing gym to interview the boxing great Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao she also got to meet Jim Caviezel who was visiting the gym to watch Manny train. The first movie that I saw with Jim Caviezel was in Terrence Malick’s WW2: “The Thin Red Line” (1998). I love him in this movie, which is definitely worth watching! Btw - another great boxing film that has been suggested on the channel is “The Fighter” (2010). Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale actually visited the Wild Card to watch Manny train prior to his fight with Ricky Hatton. I believe they went to watch Manny’s sparring session prior to filming “The Fighter.” Mark Wahlberg is such a fan of Manny’s. Here’s the clip https://youtu.be/4rFl_JPI1yk?si=WjPx9VCtkyvqpg_d Anyway, I know I’m going to love the reaction. This cast was perfect and Jim Caviezel and Dennis Quaid should have done more movies together. I just love their chemistry!

AdrianF

One of my fave timeloopy movies.

djKENTO

I really love this move… shame both leads turned into real weirdos over the past few years.

thomas king

One of the best underrated movies of the last 30 years

Matt Rowland

This is such a great movie about fathers and sons. Love this movie. My wife and I got married in 2001, and in 2000 when we were dating, we went to the movies to see some movie (don't remember) but it was sold out, and the only other movie that was showing at the same time was this. So we bought tickets, not knowing anything about it, and just LOVED it. It is in my top 10 of movies all time. As a father, a son, a husband, this film means so much to me, and I'm so glad I got to experience again, watching it with you two. The ending scene brings me to tears every time, and makes me want to go hug my kids (19 & 15). Thank you for watching this. Matt

Pickupthepieces76

This is one of those movies that when you go into it with few expectations and find it's a good concept and pretty well executed. The Arrival (1997) is another one which turned out to be very entertaining when I didn't expect that.

YodatheHobbit

I remember loving this movie, but I forgot why! The only thing I really remembered was father/son bonding with ghost dad over the radio, but once the mom's fate was in jeopardy, it was like a whole new film started in which I forgot everything that happened.

Clay F

Rose -- I couldn't agree with you more about "The Thin Red Line" (1998) [Oscar Best Picture nominee]. Surreal. A philosophical WWII movie. Not Vietnam. A good choice for Cassie. "The Thin Red Line" (1998) has a stacked star-studded cast = Jim Caviezel (great as a lead), Sean Penn, Nick Nolte, Adrien Brody, John Cusack, George Clooney, Woody Harrelson, John Travolta, John C. Reilly, etc.

Clarence Newman

I watched this for the first time last week. Good film, and though it stretched my tiny mind at times, I was definitely entertained. Can't help feeling it would've been a better movie with different leads (I'm not a fan of Quaid or Caviezel), but then again, Game of Thrones would've been better if Adam Driver had played Bran, so that's a slippery slope.

Clay F

Wild seeing Michael Cera that young. Also wild taking in that 2000 was 25 years ago. Simple math but makes one think. I wondered if you recognized Andre Braugher (Satch -- the cop friend) as "Thomas" in Glory (1989) -- the free black guy (not a slave) who grew up as a close friend with Col. Robert Shaw (Matthew Broderick) in Massachusetts. One of my favorite scenes was early in the movie when Frank/Jules were being loving/playful with each other and the young Johnny and Gordy were watching. Gave me a warm feeling thinking about a kid watching that instead of their parents fighting or being distant. I like the father/son stuff throughout the movie. I like how creative (a cool premise) the movie with interesting twists that keep one watching. A happy ending, which is nice. Logic seemed to escape me at times, but I just accepted that and enjoyed the movie. 3.5/5

Carol_White

Couldn't even finish it. Trite and sappy.

Clay F

“Traffic” (2000). Highly recommend. Great filmmaking. Won 4 Oscars. Nominated for Best Picture Oscar. Michael Douglas, Benicio Del Toro (won Oscar) (also was in Sicario), a young Erika Christensen (awesome), Catherine Zeta-Jones, Don Cheadle, DENNIS QUAID. “Finding Forrester” (2000) [Drama/Comedy] is also a good 2000 movie that I think you would find heartwarming. Sean Connery, F. Murray Abraham [e.g., Amadeus (1984)], Anna Paquin.

Dan M

So glad you liked this movie. It’s a great blend of drama, crime drama, suspense, and thriller. A very unique story with a twist and a heart. And the plot is a great conversation starter…if given the chance to change one thing in your past, would you do it, and what would it be?

Rose

Adrien Brody - “The Thin Red Line” was supposed to be the movie that made him famous - but bc of what Malick did to his character we might not have had an Adrien Brody two-time Oscar winner for Best Actor (“The Pianist” & “The Brutalist”). Definitely would love to see Cassie react to “The Pianist” as well!

Mojo One Thousand

It is a bit of trip to see Michael Cera ("Gordy") a couple of years before the role I most know him from - "George Michael Bluth" in "Arrested Development". I know Elizabeth Mitchell most from "ER" back in the 90s and then "Lost" in the 00s. I did look up her IMDB while I was watching and saw a "Santa Clause" movie in there, and as they are talked a bit on the channel, it came as no surprise that it was mentioned in the outro after y'all had looked it up. I think I said this on "The Lake House" reaction, but I wouldn't get too hung on the time stuff too deeply, as it isn't a thing in the real world, so there are no definitive rules about it. As long as the movie follows it's own rules well enough, than I try to avoid getting into the weeds about it.

Clay F

Elizabeth Mitchell (the mom Julia) plays an interesting character in THE EXPANSE series (awesome). Consider it the next time you are looking for an engaging series to binge. "The Expanse" (2015-2022) (62 episodes over 6 seasons). A newer sci-fi series. Drama. Romance. Investigative. Fascinating concepts. Exploration. Takes place on spaceships and on Earth, and on Mars and other locations in space. Much better than Firefly.

Archronos

The collision with the lounge window is a fantastic way of quickly selling the idea before it gets pretty complex later if you're not onboard

Archronos

Cannot wait to watch this tonight and I'm stoked Carly joined for it! Couldn't have asked for a better outcome. Thank you Cassie for watching it even though it didn't win the poll, and thank you to all fellow Little Chief / Big Chief fans who voted for this. It's not a massively well known film and deserves to be seen by lots more people. Hopefully fans of Cassie who don't know it fall in love with it for the first time like I did many many years ago. I absolutely adore Dennis Quaid's performance in this and Jim Caviezel is a better actor riffing off him. The two of them created one of the most tender father-son relationships you can find in movies for two family relations that often struggle to tell each other they are loved.

Shreddy

"Source Code" (2011) is very underrated scifi thriller. Cassie and Carly would love it, suspense and heart too. IMDb score 7.5 can't believe nobody wants to react to it? Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Monaghan. Jeremy Jahns called it "the best movie of the year so far" in his review, and admitted that it almost made him cry. Yet many haven't even heard of it

Ib-René Jørgensen

I was really looking forward to watching this alongside with you, ut unfortunately it is not available on any streaming service in Denmark or for rent on YouTube or Blockbuster. I guess I'll have to wait for your YouTube release.

Joe

Another example of a film that's never shown anymore on basic cable channels...so it has fallen off people's radar. I saw it when it came out and found it entertaining.

Zane From Canada

I'm watching this for the first time and I'm tearing up every time Frank and John "Little Chief" talk. 🥲😭🤧 It's a surreal movie with a great message. A lot of kids who lost their fathers that were good men would give anything to have more time with them, even if it's just to talk. And vice versa. 😊

Joe

Maybe with Brad Pitt and Harrison Ford....Cassie would have swooned and hit the floor hard, LOL.

djKENTO

Jim Caviezel was in that Sound of Freedom movie and got hyper religious and started spreading blood libel and Qanon nonsense. Then it turns out that Tim Ballard was basically a huge liar and an abuser and Jim stood right by him and doubled down. Just really icky in general. Dennis Quaid it's kinda the same thing. Super conspiracy theory minded, anti-vaxx and then started dating a woman the same age as his son Jack and then he started taking credit for Jack's success even though it was Jack's mom Meg Ryan who got him acting and helped him with his sketch comedy group.

Mary Alice

I was so happy when I saw that you watched it. I thought you would love it as I did.

D. T. Nelson

I knew both of you would like this movie. It has all the feels and all the suspense you guys love. There was a few shots of gruesome violence but without the bloody gore you both hate. The only complaint I ever had with this movie was the terrible age makeup, but I was always willing to overlook that because the story was so good. For future reference, the actor's name is pronounced Jim Kah-VEE-zul.

Uncle Phoenix

So glad you guys enjoyed this movie. LOL, I cried the whole movie. Some people have trouble Believing in God. I absolutely Believe in God. My problem is that I have trouble Believing that God could Love me as much as My Dad did.

Stick Figure Studios

A charming film from the director of PRIMAL FEAR, FRACTURE and FALLEN. Knew you'd both love it.

Brandon

How can all of these movies not be available on any of the streaming platforms I pay for. Lol

Chris Thom

Seriously wtf. It's like they know exactly when reactors are choosing them.

Clarence Newman

One possible explanation is that you're actually posting in 1995 on an IBM Thinkpad 701C. In which case, streaming services don't exist yet. If that's true, then bet your house on the Cowboys to win the Super Bowl. We'll be here when you catch up.

Archronos

I was in tears in the bar scene when Frank's hat falls in the past and John's glass in the future, praying the ladies would realise the significance of what was happening as John's life floods with memories in present day. I admit the eye flickers too much at first in a disconcerting way but you can see what they were trying to portray in hindsight. Incredible reaction and one I'll gladly come back to many times in the future. So grateful to everyone who made this happen.

Clay F

Rose -- you and I think alike. "The Pianist" (2002) is one of the best movies of all time. A huge +1 for "The Pianist" (2002). Adrien Brody is awesome (as you noted, WON Best Actor Oscar). "The Pianist" (2002) also won Oscars for Best Director and Best Screenplay. Best Picture nominee, Best Cinematography nominee. Based on true story. Everyone should watch that movie imo. I would welcome a reaction by Cassie. As a citizen of the world, everyone should watch The Pianist. Tough but not as tough as Schindler's List.

Clay F

+1 for The Fighter (2010). I love Amy Adams in that. Christian Bale completely transformed himself for his character.

Joe

Bjorn posted a link to the movie below in the comments.

Carol_White

"Believing," "love," "my," and "dad" are not, in this context, proper nouns. Hope this helps.

Philip Alan

That was a fun reaction!

Rick Williams

It was great to watch this movie again with you ladies. Trippy movie. You have to be care messing with the past. It changes the future. Great reaction.

Oisin Clissmann

It's very good but she has sadly seen it already, before the channel. You can see a very extensive list of movies she's seen here: https://letterboxd.com/popcorn_in_bed/films/year/2011/

Larry Darrell

As someone who lost his Father too early, I can say this film is very special. What I wouldn’t give to have one more talk. Thank You Cassie for watching this, even though it was a runner-up.

Mark T

I haven't seen this movie in over 20 years. Since then, both my parents have passed, it hits different now.

Larry Darrell

Cassie should watch ER sometime. Not as Reaction… 15 seasons, so obviously not. One of the Best shows ever. Doesn’t even compare to Grey’s Anatomy. I started watching it when it originally premiered in 1994. I wasn’t even 10 years old yet. The pacing, the long shots, fast talking, and intensity hooked me at such a young age. I watched it weekly for all 15 seasons. I grew up with that show.

Larry Darrell

@ Uncle Phoenix - Ditto And props for Capitalizing Key Words. I like to do it in this improper medium as well. If someone was scanning through, they could catch the Main Idea of your comment easier.

Chris Thom

I saw the first episode when I was nine in 1994...then never watched the show again until Covid quarantine in 2020 and I did the whole damn series. It was amazing. Really felt dumb for missing out all those years. One of the best shows ever. Surreal to revisit that first episode too.

Larry Darrell

Wow! Not until 2020. Crazy. I bet that was an Epic Binge. I’ve been wanting to watch the whole series again, which I’ve only done once since it ended. It takes a while, but totally worth it.

Erik Locquiao

I haven’t watched this since I was in middle school. Lost my dad in high school, this hit a lot harder now. Still a great movie.

John Cranberry

I know it was so great Cassie, I've been screaming at my monitor for people to vote for it. I fell in love with this movie 15 years ago! I will watch it with you this Friday night. 😘😘😘😘😘😘

Chris Thom

Yeah it holds up really, really well. We actually took a field trip to Hollywood in 2004 and we sat in the waiting room of the set and it didn't mean anything to me. But now that it's iconic to me I'm like 'ahhh I sat right in that seat where Lucy Lu was' or whoever. I'm curious if they still use that set for a different med show now. The raised subway outside looks super fake though. lol

Bill Maurer

probably the first time I watched this movie from start to finish. Always caught the first part or the last 1/3 rd of the movie

Stephen Dias

Great movie! It's funny, I remembered how it ended (with Dennis Quaid and the rifle), but, when Cassie announced she was watching this, all I thought of was: "Oh, yeah! Guy talking to his late father on the radio and changing history. Cassie (and maybe Carly) will love that!" Then, as I'm watching it, "Oh, yeah. Serial killer." Luckily, it wasn't too too graphic. They also foreshadowed that rifle early in movie; I don't think I ever caught that before.

Uncle Phoenix

@Larry Darrell I am at the stage in life where I believe that everyone "Thinks" based on the Pictures in their Mind's; And Act on their Feelings. As an Uncle, I am proud to say that my nephews actually Love to Clean and Study; and they Hate Drugs, Alcohol and Sugar.

Clay F

I write for a living. I can't stand capitalization of improper nouns.

Clay F

Not that many comments (relatively speaking), considering Frequency came in second, along with screams for the reaction.

Uncle Phoenix

@Clay F I have always loved how Stephen King would sometimes add Improper Fonts into his Books like “IT”. “Push Play Cassie.”

Javier Hernandez

Glad you're seeing this. Bummer that it wasn't for Father's Day.

Luke Godfrey

Just finished watch this reaction. First time watching this movie so I had know idea watch to expect. After about 50 minutes I was getting a little bored and didn't know where they would go with it, but boy did they turn the volume up with the suspense. In fact it was a little too stressful for my liking. I don't think I've ever shouted at the screen more than I did during this movie. I'm glad it had a happy ending, but my pulse is still racing. It's after 3am here in the UK and there's no way I can go to bed now as I had planned. Going to have to watch something lighthearted first. I'm thinking The Parent Trap. Can't go wrong with that classic 90s flick.

Verteron

I haven't seen this movie in a long time. I like how it ended, but I think I noticed something this time that kind of bothers me. They fixed their family but destroyed another. The original time line had the killer killing 3 women. Then after the mom saved the killer it was 10 women. They saved number 4, but failed to save number 5. After that they caught him. So they saved the dad but Sissy Clark died in the new timeline. Whoops.

subscribed again forgetting why i unsubscribed in the first place, it's not being able to download the full reaction from drop box it takes days for you to upload so by the time it's available the edited version is already on YouTube defeating the whole point of your patreon.

Eddie Perkins

I had forgotten all about this movie; I saw it about 20 years ago. It starts a little slow, but then it hooks you and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I wish I could go back to July 11, 1989, and save my younger brother. I know when you alter one event in history, you create a butterfly effect. But that would be a chance I would take, even if, by doing so, it might create my own demise.

Odd Thomas

A great Dennis Quaid baseball movie is The Rookie

Matt Jamison

I love that Cassie's first idea for dealing with the unconscious killer on the floor was to kill him. She has so much "righteous anger". And I think Carly did not enjoy this as much as Cassie.

Clay F

She has seen it. I bet she liked it. I like The Rookie.

Carol Rocha

Told yall!! Told yall you were gonna LOVE IT!!! ❤️ Not enough praise for this movie!! And it’s Jim Caveisal Ka-VEE-sel. And he played Jesus in The Passion of the Christ, as well as many other great roles. Dennis Quaid just did the movie about Ronald Reagan’s life. He plays Ronald Reagan. ❤️👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼

Johnny Bullis

This brings me back ... Im glad you ladies watched it. Great movie for any son who wish they could have one more day with their dad. I know because seeing this movie now hits different since I lost my dad in 2022, rather unexpectedly too. So this movie now gets me right in the feels. Got a little choked up watching it this time. Thank you two for taking me for a trip down memory lane. It was priceless your reaction when you both realized at the same time he was talking to his dad in the past... you gave the Bill & Ted reaction.. "NO WAY!" Classic.

Gray

have you tried using a youtube downloader on the link if the download option isn't available at the time

Gray

Well that was quite mad, guess Frank has like 3 different memories of his family growing up now. But I did enjoy the film something very different.

Karl Ries

Saw this in theaters, is on my list of fav movies though haven't watched it in over 10 years, but I didn't realize that is Michael Cera until Cassie pointed it out. That's why I enjoy rewatching movies: you never know what you might pick up that you missed before. It also hits differently now since much has changed since the last time.

Ryan Towell

Jim Caviezel had a few really good films in the earlier 2000's starting with this one, this has always been a favorite of mine along w/ the Count of Monte Cristo.. but watching this with you today made me way more emotional as i was watching I realized I lost my mom 9 years ago today.
