My wife of 43 years fell asleep half an hour into the movie. When she woke she told me it just isn't her type of movie.

Raven Dark

I have a friend who hates stuff like this. It's the fantasy aspect. She doesn't like all the "weird names" and thinks there's too much to keep track of. Heavy worldbuilding just doesn't resonate with her, no matter how good it is. Funny thing is, if it's sci-fi, she's all for it. She loved Dune. I love both.

Raven Dark

I meant to add, there are a lot of movies everyone seems to love, and I can't stand them. Almost everyone I know loves Everything Everywhere All At Once. It seems like a movie I'd love. Lots of cool looking fights, good actors, worlduulding, ect. I've tried to watch it like six times, and i just "don't get it." I feel like a garmudgen, but I just can't get into it at all.

Thanks for uploading this today! Another reason you all are the BEST!

Johnny Liu

worth the wait. Thank you, Cassie :)

Always gotta be argumentative! But I guess being different makes the world go round 😝

How about White Christmas?

The reason that Saruman gets corrupted is because he has one of the 7 seeing stones,... Sauron also has at least one of the stones - the one that was in Minas Morgul - One was located off an island of Numenor, one was located in the tower hills and only looked towards the one in Numenor. One was located at Weathertop (Amon Sul) and one in Annuminas. Saruman was given his from the men of Gondor as well as stewardship of Orthanc. One is in Minas Tirith held by Denethor. Minas Morgul was Minas Ithil (tower of the moon) when it was still held by Gondor. Sauron used the stone of Minas Morgul to not only see what was happening in Middle Earth, but also to allow certain visions in the other stones, as he had mastery over the stones, which could corrupt anyone not strong enough to completely master the stone to his will. Gandalf and Saruman are 2 of the 5 Istari (which are a form of Maiar (servants of the Valar)). The Valar stay in the undying lands and do not interfere with Middle Earth after the defeat of Morgoth (the only evil Valar) Sauron was a Maiar serving Morgoth. The Balrogs are also Maiar (evil and of fire) so Sauron (the strongest of the servants of Morgoth) is equal to the Balrogs and the Istari - just in different forms. When Sauron first came to Middle Earth - he took human form and was beautiful, but was also manipulative,... The reason he never got to actually touch or help in the making of the Elvish rings was because they never trusted him. Because Sauron put so much of his self and power into the one ring - his fate and life are bound to the ring, so when the ring was cut from his hand - he lost his human form. It implies he could regain his body and be even stronger if he gets the ring back,... he is weak without the ring,... In the war that Morgoth was destroyed, whole lands were reshaped permanently,...

Well...I tried my best to get into LOTR with you two. I guess its just not my thing. I'll be standing by for other movies.

Richard Maurer

I'd like to say I don't judge people who don't like LotR. I'd like to say that, but I can't.

Doug Cook

I got through about half of the first movie before I checked out. I just don't get it.

BRT

It's not for everyone. My Sis and Brother-in-law don't get it. I've never seen anyone not get something so much as they don't get LotR. Could sit and stare at a brick wall and they would be more into it. They only made it like thirty minutes into the film before they wandered off.

Damon

Don't feel badly. One of my best friends says the same about checking out. She gave it an honest try or three but it just wasn't for her, much to my sadness. *wipes tear*
