There is a very interesting, very recent podcast interview with Michael Biehn talking about Tombstone (1993). Biehn talks about what was a very troubled production shoot, on the fact the original director was fired a month into shooting and replaced with a very volatile director that in Biehn's words "nobody liked". The 5 minute clip is from a 90 minute Michael Rosenbaum podcast, I've watched the entire interview that covers other aspects of Michael Biehn's life and acting career. Fascinating stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLjw4czibzQ

Steven Perez

Great Western. My second most favorite, right behind SILVERADO.

rubberkidney

pretty funny on that commercial although it would have been great if for the vacuum sequence it hits your bed and just...nothing but crackles and pops as you vacuum all the treats remnants.

Heath

You really need to watch Wyatt Earp with Kevin Costner. It is better!!

Mike Lemon

She's seen them. The "watched" list- https://letterboxd.com/pib1/films/

This is a great movie and I still love it. Even though they did take some liberties with it, it was a good story telling. Not to break your 'happy ending', but Wyatt and Josephine did not have a happy marriage, if they were even married at all. She was a huge gambler and would gamble away large sums of money. They both were said to have had extramarital affairs, or adulterous affairs, depending on the claim of them actually being married. If anything, she was considered his common-law wife since they lived together for 46 years. He often went on long walks to get away from her...In fact, it was a good friend of his that took care of him more than she did as he was often left hungry because she would gamble away the money. It also is said that her own family did not like her, but the friends (Walsh's) definitely had no good things to say about her. There's definitely more to read on Wyatt, but all in all, they covered his stint in Tombstone pretty well. You can always visit Tombstone and get a lot of information and some good tourist activities in. They have some re-enactments that they do that is fun for kids.

Mike Lemon

Not to break your 'happy ending', but let me take a movie way to seriously and break your 'happy ending'.

Soccerdmon

Lol, some people take movies based on truths way too seriously. Just wanted to add some historical facts about it, especially since at the end they asked "I wonder how true it is".

Ria Grix

I was just reading a bit of Wikipedia on these guys and loved the the description of Doc Holliday… Gambler, gunfighter, and DENTIST. Kinda strikes fear into the heart of you doesn’t it lol.

Bill W

Cassie, Michael Rooker, the actor who played McMasters ("the remorseful Cowboy") was Rowdy in Days of Thunder. If you look up the cast there are many actors I know you will recognize. There was a lot of drama behind the scenes. Believe it or not Kevin Costner took steps to sabotage the film, since he originally passed on the opportunity to be involved in it. His production company took up all the Western clothing from Hollywood costume studios for his upcoming film Wyatt Earp. Luckily the Tombstone crew was able to get their clothing from Western enthusiast collectors and re-enactment troops. Kurt Russell pretty much single handedly saved this film by taking over directing, producing and script duties and kept morale up during a very troubled production.

Uncle Phoenix

Does anyone else think that Cassie would love “Street Kings”? It has Keanu Reeves and John Corbett.

Chris Davis

There is Show on Discovery+ called "Gunfighters" and the first episode is about the Shoot Out at the O.K. Corral. It was a surprise to see one of the people interviewed on the show, along with the Historians and Biographers you'd expect, was Kurt Russel! He learned a lot about Wyatt for the movie and seemed to have a genuine admiration for the man!

I’m pretty sure Kurt & Goldie named their son Wyatt (Falcon & the Winter Soldier) after Wyatt Earp

Sean Novack

It's slightly more historically accurate, but if you actually feel it is "better" you are in an extremely small minority.

Wendy

Doc Holliday was an actual Dentist. So glad you finally watched this. Loved your reaction. Thank you.

Richard Levesque

Both movies are good, but it really is a case of apples and oranges. One is heavily stylized, the other more grounded. I think where the Costner film went wrong was that it tried to capture every waking second of Earp's life, whereas Tombstone hangs it hat on the only part people care about. I like both films and I think Dennis Quaid also made for a great Doc Holliday. But the REAL great Costner western is Open Range.

Jayson Phillips

You would like Young Guns I bet

Jayson Phillips

A "Lunger" is someone with Tuberculosis in the west because their lungs are deteriorating. The Dr's of that time told people to go west for fresher air to cure it but it never did. Also "I'm your Hucklebearer" is a slang term for casket bearer the handles on the side of the casket were called Huckles.

Jayson Phillips

Young guns 1 and 2 are about the Lincoln County wars and Billy the Kid,,,Great movies!

Robert Jewell

Put OPEN RANGE (2003) on your Westerns to watch list. Directed by and starring Kevin Costner.

If you liked this you should check out Silverado with Kevin Kline, Keven Costner, Danny Glover and Scott Glenn.

Paul Mellette

Also includes Jeff Goldblum, Linda Hunt, John Cleese, Brian Dennehey and several more recognizable names and faces!

Dazman

Wyatt Earp on Doc Holliday: "I found him a loyal friend and good company. He was a dentist whom necessity had made a gambler; a gentleman whom disease had made a vagabond; a philosopher whom life had made a caustic wit; a long, lean blonde fellow nearly dead with consumption and at the same time the most skillful gambler and nerviest, speediest, deadliest man with a six-gun I ever knew."

More Val Kilmer - The Saint, The Ghost & the Darkness, Willow, Real Genius, The Doors, Batman Forever

Mike Lemon

I would love her to watch The Saint, but it is probably best to avoid Batman from that era.

Kelly Marie

True, there are definitely much better Batman movies, BUT Batman from that era is fun and wacky. I like Jim Carrey in it, and Val as Batman isn't bad either.

Mike Lemon

She hated the Keaton Batman. Is it even still on Patreon? Looking... it is. That is surprising.

Kristin D

Sorry if this is lame to say, but I'm not into watching advertising while paying for patreon. Perhaps a separate video for patreon members without having to the watch the sponsorships would doable?

Bill W

I liked Kilmer in Thunderheart and Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang.

Bill W

I think they would too. I actually liked YG2 better.

Bill W

Mike Lemon facts are facts. I thank him for the clarity. That mushy happy ending never fit the film anyways.

Dazman

Bit of an internet myth. The phrase is "I'm your huckleberry" which was used to mean "I'm your man" or "I'm the man for the job".

Dazman

They were in a strange mood for Batman, seeming to spur eachother on to make fun of it at every opportunity. Cassie has admitted they got a bit carried away. One bit that sticks in my mind is when they were baffled that Batman asked Vicki Vale how much she weighed - even though it is obvious that he was assessing whether his winch could lift them both.

GamerGal8684

Hey hey. I state Val was and is the best Bruce Wayne. The tribute to Frank Gorshin is on point. Batman Forever is fun w a great cast. Batman and Robin can be ignored

Richard Levesque

I second Open Range. One of the best westerns ever made. Robert Duvall is amazing in it. And I also recommend Costner's Wyatt Earp. It's a bit slow in places because they try to fit ALL of Earp's life in it, but I like it just as much as I like Tombstone. It's an apples and oranges thing and it would be good to see Cassie compare and contrast the two films.

Joseph Rardin

Sam Elliot is also in Gettysburg, which I challenge Cassie to watch. 😄😄😄😄

Tom Holman

The "My Friend Doc Holliday," booklet was a "dime novel." Eastern newspapermen and other writers would contract with famous frontiersmen like Earp and Bat Masterson to write their biographies or ghost-write their autobiographies. Supposedly, one of these writers, Ned Buntline, wrote a number of these books for Earp, and also gifted him the long-barrelled revolver shown before the OK Corral fight. Also, the term "heeled," means armed with a gun. Great reactions, thanks.

Wesley Allison

I’m coming at this late, but has anyone pointed out that Charlton Heston (Ben Hur, Moses from the Ten Commandments) was in this movie?
