What an incredible opening to series 3! This is an episode that is dialed in, setting up an incredible story and deepening our understanding of the characters. The quality of the production and writing are reaching new heights with this one!

You are right RTD did have the story in originally mapped out with Martha involved but then formed it with Rupesh and Lois. We are meant to assume Martha hasn’t joined torchwood but I don’t want to give too much away. I’m a big Capaldi fan, you will have lots more great Capaldi performances to look forward to on doctor who. Frobisher works at the Home Office which is the biggest government department in charge of all domestic policy. We are meant to assume he is the permanent secretary which means he is the highest ranked unelected civil servant in the home office department. But I think the people who the blank page have been passed onto are to be assumed to be one of the secret services probably mi5.

Oh it's gonna be a good week!! RTD initially planned for Martha to be part of the main cast this season, but unfortunately Freema wasn't available. Your face when you spotted Capaldi 🤣 He just has endless roles in Doctor Who at this point lol. But I have to say he is magnificent in every single one of them.

I am here to do this with you!!! I LOVE season 3. But it is so intense I struggle to watch it. Watching it with you is going to be brilliant. I love that we finally get an insight into Ianto's family. He has a sister and she is living on a council estate which makes it look like he likely grew up disadvantaged. He clearly has drifted away from his family. Then you have Jack revealing he has a daughter and grandson. Like he has lived for so long. I kind of get how hard it must be for Alice to watch her dad staying the same while she grows old. But it's also painful. Everyone has covered how Martha was meant to be in it. Mickey was also meant to be there. Can't wait to keep going with you!
