Everything gets a new coat of paint in this new Era! I love the idea of Winston Churchill calling the doctor to investigate a new military tactic that seems too good to be true.

These new Daleks were created because Karen Gillan was so much taller than Billie Piper, who the earlier version was designed to work with, and Moffat worried that they would be hard to take seriously with her towering over them. But it backfired big time, as fans endlessly mocked the more fragile look, the plastic texture, and above all the garish color scheme that got many comparisons to Power Rangers. This was even popularly considered one of the worst episodes of the Moffat era for years, but more recently many fans have looked more kindly on it, saying its strengths would have been better remembered if it wasn’t for that one overwhelming aspect.

As much as I like this era of nu who, this is probably one of the worst if not the worst Dalek episodes in the show's history. The bronze Daleks are not the original colour scheme they were introduced by RTD on the show's revival and tend to be known as time war daleks, not a colour scheme I was too fond of either. Daleks original colour was silver with blue accent colours (Like on the orbs and rings on the eye stalk) and then in the mid 70's and 80s moved them to a more battleship grey colour with black accents though kept the blue for the rings on the eye stalk (This is my fav look for the daleks).

Okay! So idk what happened but I finished the end of time part 2. And spent a short while waiting for the next doctor who video. I get a notification! It’s episode 3!!! I didn’t see the others 😂 I’m so blind. BUT this is great!🥳 3 hours of doctor who? Yeah that’s totally normal and totally what I’m doing

Apparently they designed the new daleks and it looked amazing on paper so built a prototype. The prototype looked amazing so they moved them into production. On set they apparently looked so awesome, but when they got to the post production stage and looked at what they had on film, everyone realized they looked terrible. Seems that the biggest mistake was not screen-testing the prototype first. Fun fact: the voice of Danny Boy is provided by Mart Gatiss, who as you picked up on wrote this episode (among others) and has been in Doctor Who before.

Making them taller for Karen was a great idea, but the bright colors are less intimidating. But the story is still interesting and I am excited to see where they take it.
