I'm so glad to know you've already filmed ep5 because it's ALWAYS what I look forward to the most in Bly reactions! That's when you can probably tell how their opinion of the whole series will be. Either they hate the storytelling style, or love it - I think your 23 second vid told me to keep watching lol!

haha yes, I had to stop what I was doing when I reheard Flora's words to Owen about her feelings following her parent's death and who they allowed the camera to focus on. So good.

To clear up a tiny, spoiler-free mystery: Flora thought it was funny that Danni told her she had wet her pants because in the UK ‘pants’ means ‘underwear’ so it sounded like Danni was saying Flora had peed herself. Can’t wait to see your reaction to the next episode. Holy crap is it beautiful and devastating in equal measure!

This is such a devastating episode, especially Owen's speech. Flanagan hasn't leant into the soliloquies as hard here as in Hill House, but when they come they're still amazing. And it puts a whole other spin on Danni's ep 1 freak out from being 'locked in the closet'! Which makes perfect sense with the writing choice to set this in the 80s rather than nowadays. Oh, and I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this yet but the episode titles are a nod to the particular Henry James work that is being drawn on. In this case, it's elements of a failed engagement, a ghostly love triangle and seeing visions of loved ones who have passed on.
