There’s been a lot of comparisons made between Amy/Rory and Rose/Mickey, the idea is that Amy and Rory is what could have been between Rose and Mickey if Mickey had initially wanted to join like Rory did. Life on the tardis is fast paced and emotional so it makes sense that attachments are formed quickly and intensely. When Rory decided to go he gave himself the chance to have all those experiences with Amy from early on where as Mickey joined too late and that strong bond had already formed between 10 and Rose. I think there’s also a stark difference in how the doctor dealt with Rory and Mickey almost like he had learned from that experience, he still makes fun of Rory sometimes but he didn’t hesitate to invite Rory on board as soon as he realised what was happening with Amy getting too attached to him. Loved this reaction, definitely a strong episode for character development. It makes me so happy to see how much joy the show brings you. Looking forward to the next one!

My favorite evil pastime is watching reactor's ultimate confusion during the first 5 minutes of this episode 🤣. On a serious note, this is such a great episode, I always think it's so obvious that they must be in the Tardis but then they throw so many things at you that you start to doubt it. Then reveal at the end that it's neither is just, chef's kiss!

Great breakdown! I initially felt like his handling of the Amy/Rory situation was a direct result of what he learned with Ricky. I liked where they parked the Tardis this go round.

Another favorite episode - which makes it surprising that there's really relatively little to say about it. Toby Jones is always brilliant. The mystery plot is great. And it's nice to see the Amy/Rory/Doctor triangle resolved a bit. The monster plot is a bit underwhelming - like it usually is in these character-driven episodes. But pensioners as monsters works as a nightmare for both Amy and the Doctor in different ways. 🙂 While the Dream Lord, not surprisingly in hindsight, does have some character traits that feel quite close to the Seventh Doctor in particular. Can't quite remember, but I *think* Rory whacking an elderly lady with a plank did make first place in that weeks count of viewer complaints sent to the BBC. 😁 In spite of having seen this one many times, I only just noticed some I Am The Doctor variations in this one, which I don't think appear in other episodes.

this was a great concept for a story! It becomes much more interesting realizing it was the Doctor's dream!!

I love this episode, and really enjoyed your reaction! I have one thing to ask, since I don't believe I've seen such a thing mentioned in films or TV shows from the States... Do you have walk-in butchers shops like the one shown in this episode? Such places are sadly disappearing here in the UK due to massive supermarket chains, it just occurred to me that this scene may have been confusing to people across the Pond! (Capitalised "Pond" because of Amy 😅)

Fair enough! They're not the most glamorous of places, which is why I guess I've just never seen them mentioned before 😁
