The haunting story revealed! Who is the lady in the lake? This actually explained a lot more than I was expecting the show to explain.

I have SO enjoyed watching you react to this show! And Midnight Mass is my favorite of Flanagan's works, so I'm counting down the days until next week. Absolutely cannot wait to hear your thoughts on it.

This show was really great, but I am very curious to see what Midnight Mass has to offer. Super excited to watch it.

this episode and episode 5 are tied for my favorite episode of the season. the writing and the cinematography of this episode are just impeccable! I love the tragic story of the Lady in the Lake and how complex the whole thing is. you're one of the very few reactors who have shown some grace toward Perdita in this situation. while I don't condone the murder of her sister, I completely understand her motivations, and I just feel sorry for everyone involved. btw, fun fact: Perdita is played by the same actress who played Poppy Hill in The Haunting of Hill House. the actors Flanagan picks for his projects are so good that they absolutely disappear into their roles. it always takes me a while to place them, but when I finally do, I get so giddy!

The whole situation is truly tragic. I can't imagine how hard it must have been for Viola to spend 5 years like that unable to hold her daughter. I also can't fully comprehend Perdita spending the same 5 years being belittled, pushed around etc. I KNEW SHE FELT FAMILIAR! I couldn't place her for the life of me, but I kept thinking I'd seen her somewhere. I should have assumed she'd been in hill house! Thank you!

Great origin story. Perdita being the creature in the attic. Very poetic. (Also love that the Lady in the Lake doll goes under Flora's dresser to represent being asleep out in the lake.)
