The truth of Father Paul is revealed!! Or is it? I loved getting to see parts of Monsignor Pruitt’s journey in Israel. This episode also had some intriguing and powerful moments in the fallout of Leeza’s miracle.

They never really come out and say it, but I'm pretty sure Bev has been poisoning Paul...first, to see if she could get him to leave (I'll bet she really liked being in charge while Monsignor was senile and then gone on pilgrimage) and then...after she saw the picture of young Monsignor on the wall...to test him. She wanted to see if he was REALLY the recipient of a miracle (because why would she just ask? Lol). She knew exactly who he was the instant he woke up from "death," how else would she know to call him "Monsignor"? LOVE the way these first three episodes set the stage...it's all intense from here.

I can see how a religious person might mistake a vampire for an angel

Mike Flanagan says (Chris don't read until you finish the series): https://flanaganfilm.blog/post/701818089327755264/hi-mike-i-hope-you-and-kate-and-your-kids-are

Hmmmm...I like mine better. 😉 Good to know, though!

Huh, that's really interesting. I'd always assumed that because the foaming-at-the-bloody-mouth moment that Fr Paul had was so similar to Pike, that it was implied that Bev had done it. And I can come up with multiple motives because...well...it's Bev. Thanks for the link!

I have SO many thoughts every time I watch this episode: - I adore the dialogue between Joe and Leeza. Annarah Cymone absolutely knocked it out of the park, performance-wise. Ditto for Rahul Kohli. - The actors and the make-up teams are doing a fantastic job with changing appearances. - Some great jump-scares and beautiful cinematography. - Got my theory affirmed earlier than anticipated. I'm still amazed that, of the numerous reactors I've watched MM with, no one seems to have yet put boat + dirt-filled trunk together and made 4...I didn't think I was that much of a gothic-horror afficianado, but hey. - I love the wood-cut sequence. But I mostly get distracted by the clunky excuse for exposition. I know meta-wise that Fr Paul is talking to the audience...but who is he talking to in-universe? Yeah, he's in the confessional but do you know anyone who talks to God like that? God knows who he is and what happened, so why is he being so coy? It's really not a big thing, but Flanagan is such an outstanding writer 99.9% of the time that that little bit of story-telling grit really irks me. /rant

Oh I eventually came to the same conclusion, even if Mike contradicts it 😅 I think it makes more sense, but I'm not gonna argue with the MAN. lol

haha I definitely didn't think vampire until the next episode. I'm not sure I recall seeing a vampire with wings like that before, but honestly most of my vampire knowledge comes from Buffy 😅

I didn't even realize it was a dirt filled trunk 🤣 this show felt darker visually than anything I've watched in recent times. Many times I missed details because the image was so dark. I think the confessional scene works because while yes, he is talking to God, he's going through the motions of confessing to a priest in which I think you would give such detail. I don't know, we can all be a little particular about certain storytelling elements from time to time.

Oohhh, I hadn’t thought about him picturing an imaginary confessor in the other side of the booth. That actually works. You’ve salved the irk! 😎

I think once they said that the cats had been drained of their blood, there was a huge box with something living inside of it, and something big flying around i put it together
