This is a partial follow up to the Vibe Check from yesterday. I want to do some information gathering regarding the cult classic web serial and fanfiction-target, Worm by Wildbow.

For those who don't know, Worm is a gritty superhero web serial written by a guy named Wildbow. You can read the entire web serial for free here. Be warned though, it's something like 300 chapters long and the length of like 10-15 normal novels iirc.

On top of that though, Worm has been the subject of thousands upon thousands of fanfics at this point, ranging from bad to good. It's also been the product of a lot of smut too.

Basically, how many of you know what Worm even is? How many of you have read Worm Fanfiction? And most importantly of all, how many of you would guys participate in a Worm Story Poll by me?

My current idea for Worm would probably be a Male OC in an aged-up AU of the setting where the relevant characters are all in college instead of high school. I also have an idea for the sort of power set I want to give the Male OC, but that's complicated enough that it'll probably be its own Vibe Check. Feel free to give feedback and suggestions on top of voting for this though!

I'd look at Worm, but wouldn't look at Male OC. I have a very high bar that needs be met for me to tolerate an OC main character and it is often not met. OCs don't bother me, but a lack of establishment with them does if they get a lot of screentime.

Edit: Just realised how hilariously late I am to this. The fics I've read that stay accurate to worm cannon 'grim-derp' where everything sucks because everyone is self-destructive in some way are incredibly unpleasant to read. Some of my favourite fics are worm tics, but they tweak a few details just enough that it doesn't become 'hell is other people' spelled out in 300 chapters. I'd rather see a vibe check on the characterisation than the MC power or Worm-verse itself.
