Hey All,

Liam here. Today was a busy and extremely stressful day, but its 9:14 pm and I'm turning off the computer and winding down for the night. we did orientation today for our new colorist. She will be assigned as an assistant to our existing colorist as a flatter and we're enthusiastic to see results.

This should significantly speed up the production of WONDER ISLAND, which I am anxious to fulfill and deliver.

I also spoke with a couple of notable kaiju artists that were interested in doing variant cover or poster art for DINOKING. However, that might delay the release of the project and people seem enthusiastic to get the book, so we'll see.

In addition to working on the project, they've offered to put me in contact with a number of other industry pros with a love (and history) of working on Kaiju stuff. Which could be really awesome given the budget. I'll probably commission them as stretch goals on DK#1, and if we do not reach those goals release them here as exclusive art for you, my loyal patrons.

In other news, since I am in the process of developing a new series, I thought I'd take a couple of hours and take a shot at designing the logo for Bloodsport. I'm inept at logo design, but I made the KMD logo and doing it myself can save me between $200-400 USD. Which is more money that can go to my art team to keeping up production. Things are still very tight right now, but I'm giving my all and the ship is still sailing.

I started with the American Gladiators logo, which is largely what the series will make satire of. Like in KMD, I want to keep up with the social satire in the same grim tone as Robocop, so it seemed like a solid place to start.

I took apart the Vanglorian flag, adjusted the colors, and flipped the stars to give them a subtle but sinister pentagram look.

Instead of "America" or "Vangloria" at the header, or any sort of acknowledgement of the athletes (since they are seen as disposable), I chose to head it with a corporate "DVS Presents."

I wanted a bloody font, kind of like what was used in the opening of the ANGEL COP OVA series to be sprayed across the "Vanglorian Shield" like it was in blood splatter or written with a squeeze bottle of tomato sauce. However, after about an hour of trial and error, I instead chose to go for one of my standard fonts as they were considerably more legible.

And maybe the wife was getting a little mad at me trying to write in tomato sauce on the table so I could take photos to paint over. Hey, it seemed like a good idea at the time!

In the end, I got so carried away trying to make it that I forgot to properly balance it with the rest of the detail on the cover. So, the "bloodsport" word itself is only about half the size of "Kakashi" while the bottom of the shield extends far too low into the cover art.

So, after everything, I think I am going to either cut the thunderbird, stars, and triangle from the underside of the logo or completely redesign the thing tomorrow or when I have another free couple of hours.

Stay Tuned
