Ripley had to be a woman - the alien rape/impregnation vibe would have been too much with a male hero, following the gut buster. It may have veered towards camp.

Love the show, yall. But I suspect the reason people 'hated' prometheus, and 'didn't get it' is bc it's built from an intelligent design narrative (at the beginning it proposes humans were 'created' from the Engineers). I think this went over a lot of people's heads. Cheers
