My favourite solo. His passion, his lyrics, his voice. It's different on this song.

Summer

Yoongi!! One of my fav solos of his💜

Omg yes thank you Keith I was like omg what are they saying this is not what the song was about it was the complete opposite and when you finally said what the song was about I felt so happy lol

FYI Shadow samples from the Oh R U L8 2 album. And in the MV they use a lot of graphics from that album. Persona and Ego also sample from prior albums from BTS’ discography. A lot of what makes MOTS7 is about discovering or exploring your journey; from what Suga wanted (rap star, big house big cars etc) to now he has it and it’s not all it’s cracked up to be and he’s actually a bit scared of the success. Same for Ego where Hobi is thinking about what if he hadn’t become Hope what would life been as Jung Hoseok. There’s so much self exploration within MOTS that truly makes it brilliant.

I think because they have put so much thought into what if they fail, it has fueled them to continue trying to improve or put out even better art, even if we think they have reached the top. Once you have reached the top, you still have to figure out how to stay there or gracefully come down.

I think this song was less about doubting his rapping abilities . this was more aboutt the fear of sucess.. recently Suga said how when BTS came to the states for the first time he didnt this it was a good idea. BTS never thought their sucess would come this far. he said he locked himself in the bathroom and cried cause he didnt want this sucess. He has come to terms with it now but before it was really hard for him. Also his personas whch it was this album was about. As Min Yoongi, Suga \and Agust D. and at the end of the song he says we are one all the personas whether he likes them or not or what he wants to show the world they area ll him and hes accepting that

Persona: "I just wanna fly" Shadow: "Don't let me fly" Ego: "I am flying / I fly" Persona is about the power that brought them here, Shadow is about the source and shade that comes with it and Ego is about being able to overcome this.

This video was heavy and the change up was nasty but usually if you haven’t consumed their earlier projects then you will miss some of the elements. I think you guys reacted to a handful of tracks from the Orul82 album but Shadow sampled the intro from that album. It might be worth it to take a look at all of their intros too as you guys go through the journey. To me, BTS sets up the tone of the rest of the albums from the beginning. That’s why you see comeback trailers, Outros and in this case Interludes.

This track is so intricate, and has so many layers to it... like the map of the soul itself(the book, but the album touches on that so both.) This was produced by Yoongi, GHSTLOOP, and EL CAPITXN. It was written by Yoongi, GHSTLOOP, EL CAPITXN, Pdogg, and RM. There are a lot of past album references in this song as well from their debut 'No More Dream' and outro of O!RUL8,2?, to his Interlude that he was working on around the same time for Halsey - 'Suga's Interlude' This track covers so much, and if you've read the Map of the Soul(I recommend it, it can be a tough read, even RM said it was a tough read.. though for him it most likely wasn't that tough.) One more thing I'll note. Person intor by RM, Suga's Shadow Interlude, and J-Hope's Outro Ego are all connected- "Who the hell am I?" "I want to be..." "Whatever my way.... Just trust myself." All connected. Thanks again for the content drop.💜

Please please watch the explanation by dkdktv for Shadow (Suga), Persona (RM) and Ego (Hobi). They are all connected and Curt was right on the money with the Carl Jung Theory

Thank you Keith you were spot on! I was getting a lil worried y’all weren’t grasping what the concept was and what he actually was conveying 😅 kinda could see Keith was about jump in to clarify since I know he’s always mentioned how much he likes shadow, didn’t disappoint. I love this track so much the meaning the visuals it’s a masterpiece. And Curt your input as well always insightful. 💜

kameron⁷

keith and kurt love the explanation and commentary

like other people mentioned this song touch the fears of Suga about the success they have as a group...actually more about his strugles dealing with it and how he feels about it and wanted to enjoy the experience but at the same time fearing all the pressure and the challenges of being success and losing himself into it, thanks again for the reaction!

Sandra

I love Keith's facial expression. It's between patience and I'm gonna kill someone if you guys don't shut up so I can tell you Exactly what this song is about. 🤣 Thank you Keith and Curtis for your great explanation and input. Love all you guys and your discussions keep up the great work. 💜🥰💜

RMA

This is about the price of fame, the other side of fame. The danger of losing yourself. The fear of no longer being in possesion of yourself. The scene at the beginning is based in design on a work of art. The red mass is like blood extruded while passing through a doorway (experience?). Suga is dealing with where he is now. There is a progression from No More Dream, the first BTS mv, as he raps the same line about wanting to be a king,...a rap star, etc. This is also a through line from Jungian Professor Murray Stein's Map of the Soul series, upon which these albums are based, developed through these series of albums. There are literary sources for a good deal of their works that inspire them.
