Yes, Dr. Swann's death was written into the story because Christopher Reeve had passed. And yes, you remembered correctly that they had "in memory of" in a previous episode.

Ahhh I get behind any episode with Clark and Lana scenes! I know we all get tired of the will they, won’t they but their chemistry is insane and I’ve missed their scenes this season.

Honestly, I've always thought that Kristin's acting as Isabelle leaves a lot to be desired, and upon rewatching this episode, I definitely still think that. RIP Christopher Reeve

Right? It's difficult to buy her as Isabelle. I mean, I get she needed to be distinctly different from Lana to paint a proper contrast. But... it's just not all that believable.

How did that Chinese professor know who Clark was much less expect him? His journey was a last minute decision and I doubt Lana was able to give notice. Lionel had arranged the meeting after all and he didn't know Clark would be going.
