Jessica took heavy gulps of strong alcohol, feeling the hot liquid spread down her throat. Closing her eyes, she tried for a moment to forget what was happening around her. Putting the bottle down on the table, she irritably exhaled the cigarette smoke, watching the gray wisps dissolve in front of her. Her breasts, almost spilling out of her shirt, slightly bounced, reminding her again of her situation.

— Are you lost in your thoughts again? — a quiet voice sounded next to her.

He was sitting beside her, a man from her new life — David. Handsome, confident, always a bit reserved. He knew nothing about who she had been before, and that scared her. He saw Jessica — a fragile woman with delicate facial features.

She lit another cigarette, feeling David glance cautiously at her almost exposed chest but staying silent. He never pushed, never asked too many questions. It was convenient, but at the same time, it irritated her. He simply liked Jessica and didn’t see beyond her appearance. He didn’t understand that inside, everything was tearing apart with hatred.

— You’re beautiful when you smoke, — his voice sounded soft, as if it could calm her.

Beautiful? She flinched at the word. She had never been called beautiful before. Back when she was Jack, they called her strong, reliable, maybe even intimidating. But beautiful? It was almost an insult.

— Yeah, thanks, — she threw him a glance, her voice sounding rough. — Why the hell are you still here? You could’ve gone home by now.

— I thought I’d stay, — He moved closer, his hand touching her head, gently starting to massage through her hair. — We could…

She grimaced but didn’t push him away. Every touch reminded her how far she had drifted from her previous life. David knew nothing. He didn’t know that Jack could have handled him with one hand, just like many others where he worked as a bouncer. But now, Jessica just wanted to forget.

She reached for the bottle again, trying to drown out the thoughts that pounded in her head. She didn’t want sex with David. But her body... it was like it was waging a war against her. Jack was still inside, his mind resisting, hating this. But ever since it had happened the first time, her body more and more frequently reminded her of this new desire.

— Maybe you shouldn’t drink so much, — David softly said, running his hand along her cheek.

Jessica averted her eyes, feeling something inside tighten from the disgust at what was happening. Disgust toward herself, her new body, and the fact that she could no longer fully control it. She wanted to scream at him to leave her alone, for everything to go back to the way it was, but instead, she just took another gulp, gripping the bottle tightly.

— I don’t care, — she muttered. She had already wanted to push him away, but the alcohol clouded her mind. Her nipples under the shirt betrayed her by hardening. — Just... stop, — she forced out, but her voice sounded too weak.

David turned her toward him and moved closer, his breath brushing her skin. She closed her eyes, trying to shut down, but instead, she felt his lips softly touch hers. Inside, everything clenched with disgust, but her body, like a traitor, responded — slowly, almost against her will, she kissed him back.
