Jedi Mandalore (Dylan)

Lobo is such an interesting character created from a very cool concept. He's pretty much a parody of a whole style of comic book characters that got popular in the late 1980s to early 1990s when new grittier anti-hero style became popular compared to the more traditional heroes of the Superman and Captain America who started to show their age and even appear a bit naive to viewers. This was all Influenced by the Vietnam War, Reagan/Thatcher governments, and the Watergate scandal. We got characters like The Punisher, Wolverine, Cable, Spawn, and Deadpool to name a few all Anti Hero' in many ways. Lobo is pretty much a parody of this era of comic books and a character who would honestly feels more like someone you'd find in a Judge Dredd 2000AD comic than a DC comic. The comic book Kingdom Come from 1996 is a commentary on this era of Superhero media. Not a lot of classic comic writers like these new anti hero characters and see this as the fall of the Superhero genre.

I love these episodes. The badass guitar in the background, Lobo's amazing design and dialogue, the message of how Superman wants to take care of people and things like him that need a new home, it's just great. And of course, a hilariously awesome vocal performance from Brad Garrett, who you might remember from a few Disney movies. He's Bloat the pufferfish from Finding Nemo, and Chef Gusteu from Ratatouille. :)

Fun Fact; Kal IS ''A Hard Luck Case'' himself when you think about it.... OH and ''great immigrant story'' Is farrrrrrrrrrrrr from a stretch, Meg; you really should read up on Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel and why/how Supes really came about/What he truly stood for originally....

I've always wanted to visit Thailand especially cause of the martial arts they have their. I love that Clark just travels to other places when needed and is a character for all cultures

Superman doesn’t receive his powers from the Earth, but rather from the yellow sun of our solar system, which is why he wanted to be thrown in the dodo enclosure, because it was illuminated with yellow sunlight to mimic Earth’s environment. The reason his powers where halted then limited on the ship was because Supes’s enclosure was illuminated with the light of a red sun, which negates his powers. Krypton itself was in a system with a red sun, which means all Kryptonians there were effectively like powerless humans, which is why you didn’t see anyone using flight or anything in the first three-parter.

superman's immigrant story is very intuitional. his creator Jerry Spiegel and Joe Shuster were children of Jewish immigrants. Gene Luen Yang's comic "superman Smashes the Klan" does a brilliant job exploring this aspect of Clark Kent's character

Best of S1. Lobo is hilarious the entire time but Supes and Lois also get some excellent lines. Lobo is a parody of 90s antiheroes, using 'fake' cuss words like 'frag' and 'bastich', but I was worried you wouldn't like him because of the way he acts towards Lois (marking the SECOND time that Lois has slapped a bad guy for acting pervy and hurt her hand). Love the way Lobo and Supes' theme songs are duelling in the first episode but they combine in the 2nd, symbolizing them teaming up to frag that Preserver bastich.
