Hey everyone!

I'm so excited to release this super cool fidget collab I did with RuvenBals of this gear skull! Be sure to check out his other awesome work here! https://thangs.com/designer/RuvenBals

This gear skull is sooooo cool and fun to play with! It takes some assembly to put together, but honestly I feel like that's part of the fun lol. Shoutout to Ruven for providing great print instructions and assembly and troubleshooting videos below!

For this file, you need:

To choose if you want to print the big version or the small version.

The big version takes roughly 500g of filament and 20h to print on a bambu with basic PLA. 3 Plates in total.

The small version takes roughly 100g of filament and 6h to print on a bambu with basic PLA. Only 1 Plate.

I recommend the big version. It's worth the effort!

You then need to print out all 14 gears.

You also need a one heart and 14 connectors.

You can also use the "All" files. They have everything you need.

The Big version has 3 "All File" you need to print them all out.

Print Settings:

You can use Standard settings for all parts. I used a brim on the Gears to prevent them from toppling over. No supports needed.

Soooo cooooool!!!! This makes my Halloween heart so happy! 😁

Hippie

Yeah for sure 😂😂 I’ll have to get my wife or something. I have bad arthritis and nerve problems

Phyllisia

Currently printing this! So amped!

Trisha Brown

I'm dumb. I cannot get it to work :( I can't get the gears placed correctly and I keep knocking a ppiece out when I go to spin it. 😞

Dragonsblood

I usually have to watch the videos a few times to get it right. I have a subscription to Ruven on Thangs. I am having issues with the small skull. But that is also in PLA. I am printing it in PETG now. I would suggest printing the clips in PETG no matter what or a strong filament PLA is too weak.

Robi

I am trying to print the small one but 2 pieces refuse to print right. Any suggestions for piece 1 and 4? I have tried on both an A1 and a P1s and both singly and all parts together. Both parts fail in the last few layers. I have tried with a brim and slowing the printers way down. I have never had issues with adhesion that I haven’t been able to fix by washing the plate, adding g a brim or slowing the speed down. Any suggestions welcome I have tried printing them a bunch of times.

Kekreations 3D

Try a 0.3 first layer height and a brim with a 0 object gap and 4 or 5 brim loops :) (the edges of the pieces are sharp so the brim won't be too hard to remove even with 0 gap)

Lori Hinkley

I printed this and have been trying to put it together like forever. Unfortunately I had already started a 2nd one. I have made numerous ones of the sphere, But this is so difficult to put together and his video is hard to understand.

CrazyCrafty Co

Can someone PLEASE make a better video of how to assemble it. Like put a piece in and show how it sets in spot next to the pieces around it. I think that would help us strugglers alot. More of a visual aid.

Shannon Zintner

Question. I printed the all file and things were ok but a couple pieces knocked over and I have to repeat them. When I went to print them individually they say there are no layers. I have never had this happen before. I use a Bambu and an Apple. Am I missing something?

Kekreations 3D

Let me ask Ruven about troubleshooting for that! Could try saving those pieces as an Stl in the meantime maybe?

Brian Williams

Super cool. Being following for awhile subscribed today. Can’t wait to print this and other items!!

Dragonsblood

I may have to post a video later but I figured out a different way to put the small skull together a bit easier. I was having issues following along with the one already made but after a few tries I kind of reverse engineered the assembly. I will post the video later after I have had a chance to get some sleep and get my head straight.

Kekreations 3D

Ohhhh yes I'd love to see other ways that help people's brains assemble it! We all think of things differently xD

Kekreations 3D

Updated the STL so if you re-download from the site those pieces should work now when split! :)

Lori Hinkley

For me, it isn't finding the correct pieces, its finding the correct lineup for the pieces.

Trisha Brown

That's my exact issue. Maybe my vision needs correction 😆 old lady eyes can't tell which one is the "deepest"

Robi

I ended up having to use glue on piece number one. Your suggestions worked great with piece 4 but I just can’t get piece one to stick without glue. I made a 2nd one today with glow in the dark filament and everything stuck on the first try except piece 1. But both of mine have turned out great overall and I am loving them!

Robi

I couldn’t really either. I watched the video a few times and he says which one is deepest in several of them and once you get the big pieces and a few of the smaller it gets easier to put them in correctly. The 2 sides mirror for the most part.

Kristen Terrell

Me too. Finally got it together and nothing stayed in place after 1 spin. So sad.i was supper happy to see it.

Kekreations 3D

If they're too lose and falling out of rotation go to the troubleshooting folder included and grab one of the tighter hearts! :) -2 or -3 might be good. All other pieces the same

Carmen Lucas

What are the dimensions of the big one, once it’s assembled? 🤔

Ray

Printed both sizes. Small on with PLA and Large with silk pla. Small one works better. Large one is loose. Love both of them.

Matt

The assembly videos were a big help. Not too hard to assemble for me. In the troubleshooting folder - when you have a skull that is too tight, do you want to print a bigger "heart"? Use the + size for too tight, and the - for too loose? Or do I have those backwards?

Kekreations 3D

I'm so glad the videos helped you! And yes, that's it exactly! - for too loose, + for too tight.

kristy hulsey

I've had enough! lol I'm laughing so i don't scream... I'm having trouble when i print the #1 part everything else prints wonderful but the #1 always breaks off . I've slowed the print to 20 and also at 50% silent on printer it self with outer and inner i cant seem to keep it from breaking off .. please help!!!!! i beg please!!!!oh this is the small version

Kekreations 3D

Have you tried printing with 0.3 first layer height and a 0 brim gap with 5 or 6mm brim thickness?

Jen Moreau

I've had trouble with 1 part. It's only in one printer. Weird right. The other is fine. Lol. I ended up adding tree supports tonthat little @#$%& 😂

Jen Moreau

As with his balls and cubes. The gear tolerances are lose. I won't sell them. I've had a bit of a difference between colors. But in the end. I'm not thrilled. I printed the pins a larger size. But still too much play in them.

Abby

I have tried everything to get part 1 to print correctly even add supports and still continues to fall over--- even printed seperate--- i really want this print but 4 tries in its getting exhausting

Joni Goodman

I have tried everything and can not get the one piece to not fail. just wasted almost 300g of filament after 3 failed attempts.

Kekreations 3D

You can separate the pieces so you're only re-printing the one and add a large brim with a 0 brim gap so it's solid :).

Joni Goodman

I did .. still failed.. he's just going to have a hole in his head. Wish I knew how to post photos on here cause he turned out really cool except that part.

Kekreations 3D

Aw no! You can try adding a few manually placed supports too if you want, that should keep it from wiggling towards the top.
