Sic Semper Tyrannis [Noble Phantasm]
For the Sake of Democracy, I Slay Thee
“Thus Always to Tyrants.” Anti-King, Anti-Caesar, Anti-Roman Noble Phantasm.
An assassin’s blade, wielded out of desperation.
In truth, there is very little way to say one way or the other who struck the blow that killed Gaius Julius Caesar, let alone definitively prove that it was Marcus Junius Brutus. There were many senators involved in the conspiracy to kill Caesar, and he was only one of them. The modern conception of Brutus being the ultimate traitor is owed in its entirety to the works of William Shakespeare, and is therefore almost certainly entirely fictitious.
However, regardless of the origin of the belief, this Noble Phantasm is the end result. Taking the form of an ordinary dagger, easily concealed, it is a weapon ill-suited for frontline combat and meant for a close range, intimate kill, a single strike delivered too close for a spear, too close for a sword, indeed, too close even for a punch.
In order to deliver the fatal blow, the user must be close enough to embrace his target as a brother.
Ordinarily, a fairly low-ranked Noble Phantasm with mediocre output. However, under certain conditions, the damage may increase dramatically. If the target is Roman, if the target is a “king” or other form of autocratic ruler (dictator, emperor), and if the target has the name “Caesar,” then under any of these conditions, he will take extra damage. The greatest degree of efficacy is seen when it is all three.
