You have to feel sorry for Mary. For a lady of her status at that time, her primary role was as a wife. Divorce would not have been possible. And clearly she TRIED to make it work lol. No fault of hers that Stede was so unhappy.

I love how they characterize Mary. It was a marriage that would inevitably be doomed. They are both very different people and as a woman back in that time, Mary was going to be married off to some man for wealth gain. She tried to make it work, but Stede could never love her like that. Both Stede and Ed are pulled by whims. Stede left as a whim. Now Ed is on Stede's ship on a whim.

Ok so Stede and Ed 4Ever is a rocky road but worth it. That's all I'm going to say. And I'm here for your reactions to every last moment of that :D PS: Izzy is a handful in this season but season 2 Izzy is next lvl let me asure you that. One of the best character arcs ever <3

We love Blackbeard and Izzy Hands on this crew. Also a fun fact about the fun inaccuracies in this show: what Wee John was imitating was the foghorn which wasn't invented until 1859, 142 years later. Edward's really good at predicting weather on the sea but most sailors are. As someone who lives in a town by the sea, I'm not too bad at it either.

I loved this show from episode 1, but this episode and the dynamic between Ed and Stede hand me all-in. I adore the two of them, and agree with the other comments that Izzy has a fantastic arc in season 2. Can't wait for the next episode!
