The trusty Distro Delves PC had another hardware failure and I spent about an hour trying to track it down. This time, it is either the motherboard, cpu, or possibly the psu.

Debugging hardware issues like these just isn't a good use of my time so I've decided to let the Distro Delves PC retire.

I have two totes with of random computer parts, not including a half dozen chassis parts, and at this point most of the components are far past their expected lifespan. It winds up being a waste of time & space.

I've had an idea for a Distro Delves series using OEM hardware and I think now is the time to do it. Going forward, instead of having a custom "Distro Delves PC", I'm going to use pre-built & standalone units. Think Zotac or Gigabyte Brix.

When I started Distro Delves season 2, my idea was to produce episodes year-round on the same hardware. And each year, I'd build a new PC for a the new season, compare seasons against each other, etc.

This was a silly because the rate at which Linux evolves and improves makes it impossible to compare previous episodes and seasons against each other. And never mind the reoccurring hardware failures.

I haven't decided what I'm going to do with the seasons yet. I might do away with them entirely or switch it to monthly seasons or a season per PC, etc.

This week's live stream will be on an ancient HP Prodesk all-in-one thing because its the only spare computer I have at the moment!
